Bought all the groceries for Christmas Eve dinner today. Picked up some packages from the post office and stopped by Cost Plus World Market, because that is the only place I can find REALLY cool food to add to stockings. Also found my sister a cute little fish-shaped teapot there.

The past week has been spent baking items for hampers and catching up with friends to exchange gifts. I made chocolate flapjacks, (sticky) fudge, an assortment of truffles and chocolate fridge biscuits. I have also bought and wrapped all of the Christmas presents, and my SO and I dropped gifts off to my side of the family last night since we won't be with them on Christmas day.

Today's challenge to to clean and tidy the house (there is wrapping paper and shredded paper everywhere) and buy the items needed for a little party for the SO and I tonight Long Island Ice Teas, crisps and Die Hard will be enjoyed this evening.

I got the turkey cooked today. It is now deskinned, deboned and packed away into a little refrigerator we have. The bones are out in the freezer and the drippings are in my frig waiting to be turned into gravy. Tomorrow is ham day. That won't be as much work but I will at least get it cooked and ready to be warmed up on Christmas. We are eating around 1:00 so I need to get this part of the food done as we will be going over to my dd#2 for Santa Claus.

The air conditioning will have to be turned on here in just a short while. The windows are all open and the temperature is 80+ degrees inside the house from the turkey cooking, etc. I am "sweatin like a pig" and I am not very comfortable (hot flashes ya know)

Spent the day cleaning house, except for a quick trip to pet-sit for a friend who is out of town, followed by a last-minute shopping trip to get fabric softener, and a trip to the post office. All but two of my packages have arrived, and the last two are "guaranteed" to be here by tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

Tonight will be spent doing the last bit of preparing the house, wrapping the gifts that came today, and figuring out my time schedule for dinner tomorrow.

Last minute cleaning and organising is what's happening here. I want to get plenty finished before dinner this evening so I can knock off (well, except for doing the dishes afterwards). SO is making dinner so I will hopefully be relaxing by then

Got to sort out the kitchen and the spare room mostly. Off I go!

Cooked the ham this morning. Swept and mopped the house today. My dh cleaned up the back porch and the patio doors. The house is ready, will only need a quick once over tomorrow after we get back from Santa at my dd's house.

Tomorrow after we get back I will make the mashed potatoes and gravy and reheat the turkey and ham. That's all. I should be able to enjoy the company this year instead of being stuck in the kitchen doing last minute stuff while everyone else is visiting.

Merry Christmas to all on FV. I hope that you have a Blessed Christmas.

    Stay safe.

Made it through the family dinner and CLEANED UP on presents - woo hoo!!

My big presents were a KitchenAid mixer from my sister and a new set of pots/pans from my mother. My sister also got me the usual odds and ends of eclectic things - a salt rock lamp, for example, and something I have wanted for years, but could never bring myself to spend the money on - one of those fans you put on your woodstove, and the heat from the stove makes the blades move, which sends the heat out into other rooms. I always drooled over that in the Lehman's catalogue, but couldn't bring myself to spend the money on it. My sister was surprised I even knew what it was.

Dinner went well, and while many of you will be slaving away over meals tomorrow morning, I'll be slaving away over clean-up! But then I'll be done with entertaining for the year - woo hoo!!

I'll wait until Monday to start the 2012 Countdown challenge!!!

Merry Christmas Mad and to all FV's out there.

You got some wonderful items. I bet you will really put that wood stove fan to good use.

    Enjoy your Christmas day.
