I cleaned out a large kitchen cabinet and drawer today, packing 63 items for the PTA thrift shop and two appliances for a new couple who asked for kitchen items on freecycle.

I had a lot of fun with my bento box supplies, but I can't wait for my new kitchen to be uncluttered, so they are going to a new home also. I hope a mom or dad picks them up so some kids get cute lunch surprises.

I did a huge project yesterday.

I packed up 111 pieces of my clothes and left 33 for the next 3 months. I did not actually toss them yet because they are cloths that fit me, I look good in them, and they can be used in the spring. I boxed them up and packaged them away.

I plan to toss belts, shoes, coats and scarfs when the 3 months are up. I figure if I can live without it for 3 months, I don't need it.

I pared down my exercise outfits to 3 (the others were way too small. I may donate if I don't continue to loose weight) (20)
I pared down my PJs to 3 (4)
I pared down my belts to 3 (50)
I pared down my unmentionables to 7 and 7 (5)
I pared down my lounge outfits to 3 (6)
I pared down my bathing suit and cover up to 1 (10)
I pared down my shoes to 1 black boots, 1 sneakers, 1 dress shoe, 1 winter boot, 1 clogs (30)
I pared down my coats to 1 black coat and 1 scarf, 1 hat, and 1 gloves. (15)

Next I plan to pare down my jewelry and toss the junk stuff
I plan to pare down my socks and keep 10 pairs. (7 dress and 3 sports)

    To sum things up:
I've organized and tossed many things from my kitchen pantry (15)
I've listed for sale 20 items
I've cleaned out the clutter in my closet (261)
    For a total of 304

FN....why would you toss things that fit you ?
I can see boxing them up and rotating them, but NOT tossing.
You don't need to buy things again if you already have them.

I didn't 'toss' them. I boxed them up for the 3 months. and in the spring will rotate out my winter stuff. I'm also losing a pound a week and hope they don't fit me by then But I do have a full wardrobe in every size from 4 to 14 (14 being my current size) in the basement all organized.

Also, I think the original wording for the challenge, was "fling" to go with 2013 "things," so the idea maybe morphed into "toss." I need to get back to flinging/tossing things into donation bags. I don't transition very well, and I've been concentrating on homework, so I didn't do well meeting the challenge this half of the week.

Wish I saw this thread last week. There was a lot of flinging going on. Didn't keep count. One thing I do know is that some of the items I tossed I kept on thinking, well, that was money down the drain. Mainly with clothing that I barely wore. Luckily the items were from the thriftstore. But still, atleast it is keeping me out of the thriftstore since I keep reminding myself that I threw out items that I barely wore.

Anyone else thinking that was money down the drain when tossing items?

I reduced my CD and DVD collections today, so I'm up to 130 items. I'm discarding old invoices tomorrow, but I won't count each piece of paper...maybe the three containers, though

My count is up to 253 since I trashed, traded or prepared for donation a total of 123 items yesterday and this morning.

It was sobering to learn how unaware we've been about accepting take-out utensils when not needed. I collected a drawer-full from eight years of living here. Fortunately, someone else wanted the sturdiest plastic utensils, I saved the paper napkins for our use, and there were little packets of salt and pepper I put into our emergency bag.

The worst part was going through my adult children's childhood game collection, since neither would take on the job when I suggested it over the holidays. Happy memories but bittersweet task.

I finished sorting through office shelves of old, full binders and the storage boxes. I still have some drawers that contain that sort of item to go through, but I recycled a lot of paper (counted per binder) and found out I will probably never have to buy another pen, pencil, or legal pad for the rest of my life.

    Today's fling: 44
