Default September Room by Room Cleaning Challenge

Normally I do a hard clean on the house a few times a year, almost always on Labor Day weekend, but we've a lot going on here and I'm off my game. I like to have all the hard stuff done by the time the holidays roll around and we can open the windows and enjoy a clean house and fresh air.

Right now I need to get all the pantry items I just bought put away and get some laundry started but here's where I plan to start tomorrow:

    Bedroom
    Dust Furniture
    Wash Quilt/Shams
    Wash Dust Ruffle
    Wipe Doors
    Helmac Lamp Shades
    Clean Floor Fan
    Windex Pictures/Glass/TV
    Clean Off Bench Seat
    Shake Rugs
    Sweep Floor
    Sweep Under Bed
    Inventory Under Bed Storage
    Mop
    Wipe Screen Door
    Windex glass
    Wipe Doggy Door
    Wipe Walls
    Wash Fake Plant
    DH – Ceiling Fans
    DH – Light Fixtures
    DH – Dresser Mirror
    DH – Blinds
    DH - Windows

*Even though they're on my list I need to separate these and make them a priority because they're getting really dusty...Clean the A/C return vents in the living room and hallway.

    Anybody want to join me?

Wow, that look sooo ambitious to me. I think I'll get the bedding washed and call it good here.

We did a deep clean of the LR yesterday, and I am happy with that, too.
Stop trying to organize all of your family’s crap. If organization worked for you, you’d have rocked it by now. It’s time to ditch stuff and de-crapify your world.

If you're not using the stuff in your home, get rid of it. You're not going to start using it more by shoving it into a closet.

Use it up, Wear it out,
Make it do, Or do without. ~unknown

A clean house is a sign of a wasted life. ~unknown

Contrary, it really only takes a couple of hours if I can stay focused and not get interrupted. Easier said than done though, lol!

Since I put off the majority of the laundry until tomorrow I've decided to switch things up. Instead of starting at the back of the house I'm going to start in the kitchen since I have some meats to get in the deep freeze, some cooking prep to do and I can keep a closer eye on the laundry and keep things moving quicker. It will also be easier for me to do a few things each day after work on this short week while I'm cooking or doing dishes then next weekend I can focus on the rest of the house.

    Here's the new list:

    Kitchen

    Scrub Sink
    Scrub Dish Strainer
    Wipe Cabinets
    Wipe Counters
    Fill Pepper Shakers as needed
    Fill Salt Bowls as needed
    Wipe Outside Fridge
    Wipe Inside Fridge and Organize
    Wipe Freezer and Organize
    Wipe Top of Fridge
    Wipe Trash Can
    Wipe Wall by Can
    Oil Cutting Boards
    Oil Rolling Pins
    Wipe Microwave
    Wipe Stove
Scrub Pans and Grates as needed
    Wipe Stove Hood
Clean Oven Too hot right now...I'll save this until the next cleaning in the winter time
    Dust Hutch
    Wash Fake Plants
    Dust Potato Bin
    Oil Potato Bin
    Wash Dog Bowls
    Wash Dishes Above Cabinets
    Wipe/Wash Wall Decorations
    Wipe Inside Cabinets
    Wipe Inside Drawers
    Polish Knives
    Call All Clad About Skillets
    Scrub Gel Mat
    Sweep
    Mop
    DH – Sharpen Knives
    DH – Blinds
    DH – Window
    DH – Light Fixtures

MA$H, I was wondering where you were! You got me motivated to deep clean my house last November. It's too early for me to start doing this now, I still have all the outside work to do but I hope you will post again when you do your next deep clean.

I've started this. I cleaned the LR blinds and window yesterday. Moved the couch and cleaned under it. With my 13 mo old that's as far as I got. Oh well I did something.

This will take me right until Christmas lol

Okay, I'll bite. My house is actually in a good place to start because we had a grad student clean it this summer. So my kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathroom are basically done.

Where I need to put in effort is...

    ~ the sunroom
~ the entries, halls, and stairwells
    ~ the sewing room,
    ~ our bedroom,
    ~ the utility room,
    ~ the basement family room,
    ~ the backyard patio,
    ~ and the garage...with DH's help.

Off to think of specific things to do right now. I think I'll focus on a patio cleanup today. We have company coming for supper.

I got out to the patio with a large garbage bag and picked up while DH was out there resting. It was great because I could double check what was needing to be thrown out and what had to be kept. Made a huge difference in the patio. Have a bunch of cheap pots to get rid of now too. We are gradually upgrading our pots each year.

Way to go ladies! It's always so nice to have a few people on board. It helps keep me motivated!

I hardly stopped moving yesterday but didn't get as far in the kitchen as I would have liked. Did knock a few things off though and will keep plugging away a little bit each day after work. Hopefully I can get the majority of it done by the weekend and move on to something else.

    Fill Salt Bowls as needed
    Wipe Outside Fridge

    Wipe Wall by Can

I couldn't sleep last night, so I cleaned the sewing room. I am almost finished. Have a surface to clean and some stuff to throw out/put away -- a stack of paper. Then I'm ready for the vacuum for the first time in MONTHS!

Nothing done today after work. Had a storm roll through. Very dreary and ugly and took what little bit of energy I had after a busy day at work completely out of me.
