ROFL! Husby had to go out in the dark and rain to see if the water was draining out of the one downspout we have installed. He really does not seem to understand the concept of gravity sometimes. Cracks me up every time. Then he had to come in and report to me that the water was running from the downspout into the catch basin below it. He's been telling me how it's going to shoot out too far and go beyond the catch basin, like it's coming from a garden hose or something, while I kept saying it wouldn't. At least he's happy to know it's working. How could it not be? I'm surprised he didn't go down our slippery hill to make sure the water was coming out the end of the drain tile.

We had steak tonight, too, leftovers from Sunday. Wrapped in bacon and grilled, of course. Mmmmm! The house is full of healthy foods I made for us and our friends to eat all weekend, but we ate out so much we didn't eat much of it. I shouldn't have to cook much till Thursday at least. Love that!

It's my day off and I should be working on everything that needs to be done around here but no, I am sitting on the back porch playing on the computer and watching the hummingbirds.

Thanks again everyone for your good wishes and prayers for my SIL. Stopped by the hospital yesterday after work and she is progressing in leaps and bounds. The nurse said she will probably be able to go home in 7-10 days. I think in the lower end.

I have been busy and just not able to pull myself out of this funk I'm in. Just feeling lazy and I hate feeling like this. (just saw a coyote walk across the back field!) I think I need to start exercising again, I always feel better and have more energy, now I just have to get myself to do it.

    Wednesday
    1 - dailies for M, T, W
    2 - laundry
    3 - exercise!
4 - make salad, corn bread salad
5 - put stuff for SA in car
    6 - clean kitchen
I'm too busy working on my own grass to notice if yours is greener.

Hi all! Spent the last two days with the granddaughters. They wiped me out but in a good way.

    Today I hope to
    1. Make it to the pool place to get supplies
    2. Groceries
    3. Swimming
    4. Pack another box

I love hummingbirds! I haven't seen any this summer although we just never got our feeder out so they've moved on. Once we move and get settled I'll put the feeder out next spring and I hope they'll come back. It was just too hectic this year.

Rabbit I'm so glad to hear your SIL is improving and will be going home soon. That is awesome!! Keeping up the prayers. Give Cadbury a little pat for me

SD I'm cracking up at your DH and the water thing. My DH is apparently opposed to gutters..we have a corner of the house where the water cascades down and it's rotted the wood which he's had to replace several times. So I said "hey how about a gutter to divert the water to a better spot so the wood is spared a bit". Nope, the water has nothing to do with the rot. OK then. Now I do confess this is not my area of expertise but I always thought water could be a rot culprit but he says no. Maybe he's right???

Does anyone have a cornbread recipe they'd like to share? I have had cornbread twice in restaurants and it was amazing. I've made it at home just using a prepackaged mix and it was awful. It was the Krusteaz Honey Cornbread mix. The cornbread I had in the two restaurants was kind of solid (not overly crumbly like cake) and kind of sweet. This stuff in the box was crumbly and almost bitter. Left an aftertaste which didn't impress me. Now I'm on a quest to find a good cornbread.

Hi Grammarbug, I've missed a few days so I haven't "met" you before. Glad to have you here!

Hi FW, ILC, OM, Niko, Ayanka, Pinetree, Bernice and anyone I've missed. Hope you all have a great day!

things have been strange here. I've been in one of those periods where I just am not me, confused, can't open my eyes for anything, then I'm ok for a while, then it's back. I finally get the 24hr EEG next week, I hope that clarifies things. My mom's sister has been here since Sat. I love her, she is great to my mom but drives me crazy. She has answers to every health blip I have; join the Y, really? Because for $70 a month I think it's wasteful to join when you fall over trying to get from the parking lot to the door and there is not one thing you can actually safely do at the Y. I tell her how I am supposed to be flat in bed as much as I can because of my BP, dizziness and falls, she calls that BS. I fall asleep getting the fork to my mouth at dinner and she claps her hands in my face and yells, "wake up! wake up!", she treats me like the things that are happening are a choice. She leaves in an hour, thank God.

She did help my mom a lot with her bedroom hoarding. And she finally got my mom to agree to meet with Hospice! Her doc said whenever she was ready, fine. Her specialist is not on board but I am done with him bullying her and talking her out of hospice when he knows she has massively declined and he has been unable to do jack s*** for it. So a family member can call and request hospice, it doesn't have to be a doctor. I call them, they call the doc and we're good to go. Well, her primary (also mine for almost 30 yrs) is on vacation, she gets wind of this, has her nurse call my mom and tell her to wait, she needs to see a psychiatrist first and she is totally misunderstanding the hospice criteria despite me having told her numerous times so she says she is not ready. I am so pissed off. it took a lot out of my mom to make this decision. Her doc has wanted her to see psych for over a year because she is so OCD about all her pills that she will spend an hour several times a day checking them over and over, plus she's a hoarder. The OCD is not that bad, easily controlled with a med is a case like hers. As for the hoarding, she is supposed to see a shrink to get that under control now, when she can barely walk to the BR without gasping for breath and bad pain? We are trying to de-hoard her room so she feels peaceful. The real hoarding is in the basement, she can never get down there and it does not matter. We will clean it out when she is gone. But to deny someone hospice when you have promised it for so long and they finally get to a place of acceptance, that's cruel. I have never spoken back to the nurse but I said, "as soon as she is back, we want a family meeting. This is cruel and unacceptable. You have set her back so far by doing this and I am not going to remain silent about how my family feels about what is being done." We start calling psychiatrists, all the ones her doc suggested do not take medicare, we probably called 20, either not taking new patients or don't take medicare. grrrrr

please pray for peace for my mom

Morning, well it is for 12 more minutes!

Om, if your DR says dont work, then dont work, you will mess up your ssi and you will have to start all over. um, lemon cake, sounds good to me!, The poppy seed turned out good, now if I can stay out of it!!

FW, Crossing my fingers, for you, but have a feeling you will find somewhere else to take care of kitties.. hugs, Hows Mom?

RABBIT, Oh how nice!! I would love to sit on my deck and watch humming birds!! We only get them in the spring when they fly in and fall when they head down south. They come thru here on their way to the mountains where they spend the summer, it get too hot down here for them.

Giving Thanks your SIL is doing well, hopefully she can get home sooner.. Take it easy for a couple days, youve had a stressful week! Hugs

SD, lol, your DH is funny! Heres hoping you get the rest of them up! Hey post a picture of the wolf thing you are doing, I cant picture it.

Hikr00, Hi, glad you had fun, bet you are pooped out!

ILC, Ok, guess we will have to send out a search party for you! Hoping you are just having too much fun to be on here!

    Bernice, sending up prayers.

    Jen, ???

Niko. still sending up prayers for DH and you.

    Ayanka, are you doing ok?

    Hi to everyone I missed.

OK I give up what is cornbread salad? I make corn bread and muffins, never heard of it.
The lemon poppy seed is SO good, oh kinda wish I didn't make it now.. oh yum, and the applesauce worked great instead of oil, so thats more fat out of my diet.
I have enough applesauce left, so will use that on the brownies.

I'm getting my list together for the sale, beans are only .68 so going to get a case or more. I guess I can freeze it all if I cant get it all done. Hoping to really add to my stockpile in the next week.

Well the mountains got their first dusting of snow, 12,000 ft and up, Rocky Mt. National Park and Pikes Peak have a white dusting.. looks like falls around the corner. It sure looks beautiful tho.

    Today
make out lists for all 5 stores
    vacuum living room
scrub, clorox , wax kitchen sink
    get a small job done

    dinner, baked ziti

Have a wonderful day and expect something good to happen!!
Pine trees, with their needles pointing up to heaven, represent everlasting light and life.

Rabbitt, that's such great news about your SIL! I hope she's back home soon.

Watching hummingbirds seems like a perfectly reasonable pastime to me.

When I have to ease myself back into exercise, it seems like the best thing for me is to set a short period of time, say ten minutes, and then make myself bike or walk half that so I have to do the other half in order to get home again. It always seems like just getting started is the worst part of it, but it's not that big a commitment to do ten minutes so that helps. I usually get back up to my usual time fairly quickly once I've gotten over the starting ordeal.

Hikr, we're opposed to gutters, too. We're going to have to heat tape them or they'll just freeze up and be useless over winter. If we could have come up with some other solution, believe me we'd have avoided them.

Bernice, I'd be ticked off, too. I hope you can get this hospice mess straightened out.

We got 2.5 inches of rain overnight and the driveway is starting to erode a little in one spot where we can't really do anything about it. We knew it would be that way. The garage floor is dry though, where it used to be a huge wet mess after a rain like that, so that's something.

Spent 3 hours in the cabin sorting books this AM. I got two boxes ready to donate. I'm hoping I can get Husby to let go of most of his high school yearbooks. I kept two of mine, but I only had four. He has yearbooks from elementary school and some he dragged home when he cleared out his parents' place, since they apparently bought them for years after Husby graduated. Who knows why? IMO most of them can go but it's his decision. I have a long, long way to go in the cabin. For now, I'm just working on getting things cleared up enough to get the old kitchen cabinets out of my office, so I can strip the paint off them and get them ready to go into the back porch. That'll be great storage there, which we need. So glad I don't have to put them in the bathroom now.

Bernice - you have far more patience with people than I do, your Aunt would have made me snap! Prayers going up for your mom.

Grammarbug - I love the hummingbirds. I just started feeding them last year as a way to remember my dad. I am not a person who likes to go to cemetery's and my dad always fed the birds year round, he loved birds.

Well I got everything done on my list and then some except exercising. I plan on going for a walk on the property as soon as I finish this post though.

    Thursday
1 - clean litter boxes and rabbit pen
    2 - cut back lawn
    3 - coupons - cut/purge/file
I'm too busy working on my own grass to notice if yours is greener.

Hugs to Bernice, I am sorry for the situation. Your mums physical issues seem to have surpassed the point where the hoarding really matters and treating the OCD is a waste of time, so I really hope you get the primary to change her mind.

Im okay Pinetree, though not as good as I d want. Doing a weekend night shift 8h 12 h12h was a bit too much for me tbh, but it is part of the shift system. Im going up for another 3 shifter, but days this time, which I am better suited to take (no problems sleeping).
I didn't do as much as I wanted the last 2 days, but I did the minimum and that ll have to do.
    For today:
I visited my grandma for her birthday, which is actually Sunday, but I ll probably need that day to recuperate, so I asked if I could come today which was fine. My grandma is not doing to good, nothing specific, but being overweight, old and having several medical conditions doesn't make life pleasant. And honestly I am not sure how much longer she ll be here.
I also went to my parents' (they live around the block) and traded things with my mum. The plastic containers she was looking for for some leftover food. (The things I got weren't intentional)
I did some grocery shopping for the couple of items I was missing, hoping I don't have to go anymore, anytime soon.
And some basic cleaning, so things look ok. All in all I am fine, just wish I d have more energy... Well off to bed it is.

Niko - I hope you see this......have you heard of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau? I just heard of it and thought maybe you could contact them with your problems with BOA. They are a watch dog for lenders but maybe they could direct you to another organization that would handle your issues? Or maybe they would work with you? Worth a try although you might have already heard of them.
