SD-no spoiler please. Prob. watch it tomorrow. Bratsy dog is feeling better and making horrible sounds in his crate. The Dneighbors must think I am boiling him in oil. the office-slow down your not writing excuse is waining. lol

TDN-good thoughts. When the vet said there was a 70% chance the other dog had it too I contacted the rescue helping group who said it had been tested because the lady I got the dog from had called them already. We had contact through messaging. The female tested negative and will be rechecked it 6 mo.. So its covered. Rescue groups share things too.
HW is transmitted thru mosquitos. It is quite present here but a lot of people use HW preventative. When you get to rural areas the HW cases are higher because people regard animals diff. and dont understand the need. The preventative doesnt kill the worms but makes them sterile and the case dies out. The meds the dog I have got are an arsenic derivative and poison them w/o harming the dog. The worry is as they die,if the dog isnt kept quiet, the worms clog the vessels and cause emboli, which in turn can clot the lungs w/ obvious results.
This dog is getting a walking sedative 2x daily to calm him. No excercise to try and stop clots. Its going to be a long month. and the same w/ the next.
The newest protocol is 1 month Doxycycline-done,ist treatment-done,wait a month, repeat treatment, and the next day the 3rd shot. This will complete in Dec. when he gets shots/neutered? Then we will see. DD wants him if she moves but she works full time and is busy. We'll see.

OMGoodness-cats. We have the outside stand for Mackey (raised feeder) in the house and its upside down. Several cats are fighting over whose turn it is to sit in it. I guess they got bored of stealing DD's yarn and spreading it-literally all over the stairs.

Good morning. Well, I went to physical therapy yesterday and they did an evaluation and I didn't pass, so I guess I'll be in pt longer. I need to clean my house, but it's just not in me today. Don't really want to do anything. Guess I'll spend the day reading.

GB-sorry you dudnt pass-hugs. But at least you have the oppertunity to go unlike some.

    Today is already spinning
Got DD to work after she came home is the wee hours today
Dh got Yogi to the vet. His HW test results will be back tomorrow.
Got gas,did banking and went over the checkbook
    Called Dmom.
prob. vaccumn some more, empty the DW,spend time w/ little dog, laundry
    And whatever else come up

Dmom is getting to the age where she gets a conglomerate confused idea and there is no disuadeing her. Yesterday she had mentioned she hadnt had the furnace cleaned and it was almost time to do it. That she was late last year. Oh yeah I remember. She ended up not gettting the $69.99 deal and had to pay $100. for doing it so late. So I said should I call,no no she has it. So yesterday she says "I have that service contract w/ Consumer Energy and I am going to call and have them do it." No mom thats for service not maintainence. Round and round. Well it doesnt hurt to call and ask. It drives me crazy that she pays $22 or so each month for that contract (old people tax) but she seems confused as to what it even is for now. I have to call and ask if she scheduled it was the furnace company. Cripes.

Well,Yogi went to the vet and that is done. I guess he christened the office in 2 ways. I will apologize on Wed. when I take little dog. sigh. He has to be muzzled and I just cant hold him.

Hi everyone & thanks a million for the good wishes, slept solid since yesterday (at one stage I was 50hrs with only 3hrs sleep). Have to say the funeral was sad but his sons & wife loved having us there (nearly 30 from Ireland went). Then we had the Irish side in England arriving on, the poor people in the Hotel didn't know what hit them. The boys loved hearing stories of when their Dad was small, we had them laughing and crying all at once. I think they are in for the hardest part now, after all the commotion has gone and your left time to think. We have the boys and their Uncle arranged to come over around Christmas, so this should keep them occupied for a bit. Must go and play catch up here. Hope everyone is doing really well

Welcome back, Rona! I know it was very meaningful for you and his family that you were there.

Gbug, sorry about your evaluation but more therapy is not a bad thing, even though I know you wish you didn't have to do it. What are you reading right now?

SD, your office sounds great. Pictures, please!

fw, vets here recommend that all dogs should be on year-round, lifelong heartworm meds due to all the skeeters we have. All our doggies have always taken Heartgard every month for as long as we have them.

Speaking of mosquitoes, we still have them, halfway through October! I know because I have 3 bites on my feet and I've killed several skeeters trying to bite my arms.

fw, it's good to know that your DS is all right.

hikr, it sounds as though you've been having a lovely time lately! Glad to have you back too.

pinetree, when do you start therapy?

TDN, this IS a fun group. And very nice also.

Ayanka, Niko, Jen, om, and everyone else, hi!

Got up this morning and went straight to Kroger where I got some really good deals with sale items, coupons, and unexpected mark downs. DS is coming home today so I wanted to make sure we had the fridge and pantry stocked. Gotta keep boys well-fed!

    For the rest of Friday:

    1) Laundry IN PROGRESS
    2) Run a couple of errands with DS when he gets here
    3) Watch DH on the roof while he paints dormers
    4) Reset downstairs
    5) Change litter boxes

    Have a great Friday, everyone.

Ilovechocolate.....yes, also a very NICE group, which is what got me hooked!

    3 things for the day-

    1) make homemade pizza for dinner tonight/lunch tomorrow
    2) clean main bathroom which is also my laundry room( It always cracks us up on house hunters when people are looking at houses and say " who would put a washer and dryer in the bathroom!" Well my hubby would, before we were married! Though I never thought anything of it since I grew up with it that way.)
    3) throughly clean kitchen

So for all you animal lovers it is national feral cat day, I am signed up for a free, 1 hour webinar through alley cat alies.......on in 15 minutes! Not sure what all it is about but hope I learn something new about rescue!

Thanks for the snack suggestions, you guys. I had thought about carrots but forgot about them. They keep a long time and used to be a go-to snack for me, but I guess I got tired of them a few weeks ago. Cauliflower and radishes would be good, too. A half ounce of nuts costs me 2 points, so that's doable. Maybe some limited Wheat Thins or Triscuits, too. And string cheese. Everything but non-carb veggies has to be carefully portioned. Tupperware is my friend!

Stupid Flickr still won't let me into my account, but I'll try to post when I finally get it to work again. I spent the morning in my office rearranging the desk, taming down the cord clutter, and doing other little stuff like putting up a bulletin board and putting my $2 Walmart mums in the fancy $4 stained glass hanging planter. Now they both look beautiful. I got everything to fit onto the desk just the way I want it with room left over for some more plants, except the ink jet printer. So I can't get rid of the typing table that's next to my desk. That's okay, there's space for it. I might decide to use the sewing machine cabinet I'm fixing up for the printer instead of for plants. Haven't decided yet.

Husby woke me up early this AM to inform me the tool storage I drooled over last weekend is all on sale this weekend at great prices. Oh, boy. I'm hoping we decide not to go but tools are a weakness for me and it's painfully obvious the tool storage in our garage doesn't work for us, or else we wouldn't be constantly searching for stuff. I really don't want to go to Duluth again so soon, and if we go tomorrow we'll be too tired to deal with the bikes and the dock on Sunday. On the plus side (or minus side, depending) the cabinet I liked the best weighs over 500 pounds, so I think that one's out because we'd never get it off the truck once we got it home. Good thing because even on sale it's $1,200. One of the smaller, much less expensive ones looks like it has some potential and would have a much smaller footprint so take a lot less space. So it remains to be seen if we'll end up enabling each other as usual. To make matters worse, there was a desk at ReStore we decided against because it's an L with a right-hand return and we thought he needed a left hand return. But after measuring today, I found out a right-hand return would work fine as long as the main part of the desk is a standard size. Combined with the credenza, he could have an enormous U-shaped desk and I know he'd love that because he always wants multiple monitors like he has at work, uses two or three printers (don't ask me why. It makes sense for me, but not him.), still has to have his old calculator on his desk, wants the paper cutter out all the time, you get the idea. He'd be on hog heaven with a big U-shaped desk. Did I just talk us into going to Duluth/Superior again?

Is it weird we won't buy furniture for the house retail because it's so expensive, but are perfectly willing to drop a grand or more on furniture for the garage? OTOH, it's easy to get nice used house furniture, and pretty darn hard to find good used garage furniture. Usually the used tool storage we find is trashed and still costs a lot.

Should be some interesting discussions tonight.

Husby just called to see if I had called my mom to tell her we won't be going to her place to get her summer stuff moved to her garage because we're going to Duluth tomorrow. What?! Uh-oh. As far as I knew, we hadn't decided yet to go or not.

He likes the U-desk idea and can't recall exactly the desk I think might work. I had just tried calling ReStore before he called, and gotten some kind of weird message that didn't help me at all, so I don't think I can get any more info from them. I hate going to Superior worse than going to Duluth.

I hate that drive to Duluth. We haven't been there in about three years and now it looks like we'll be there three times in less than a month because we have to take Mom to a specialist there next month. Oh, well, if this is my worst problem, I'm indeed a lucky person.

Maybe Harbor Freight will have another winch for me, since we forgot to buy a second one for the bike trailer.

Looks like I have some shopping lists to make.

Good afternoon!! I couldn't get the computer to turn on, so I guess I have to look for a new one, sob!

TDN, lol, oh please don't tell me today is feral cat day, I have enough!! All but one of ours is feral, yep, wild from birth and all tamed down, we have lost several the last couple years, had 10 now down to 7. We have cat shelters around the yard so they can stay warm and dry in the winter, the ones outside refuse to come in the house to live.

I am so sorry you lost yours, its so hard to get along without them being there, hugs.

Hikr, are you completely moving in now? You are so busy!! Have fun with those grandbabies!

FW, whoa, boy are things moving around you!, So Happy to hear about your DS!
I sure enjoy your vet stories! hugs..

OM, you doing OK? Hugging that baby I hope!

Niko, thinking and praying for you..

SD, hey I'm on the look out for a free computer, thought I'd put the word out since you seem to find everything for nothing!! lol
Have fun shopping, enjoy the time out and the ride!! take pictures!!!

Rona, its so nice to have you back, I'm really glad you got to go.

ILC, I havent signed up yet he wants me to think about it, its for copd, so I need to look stuff up. I don't know if I can make it down for 10 weeks with snow on the way, so have alot of questions to ask yet. Dh doesn't like driving down in the winter, and I haven't been driving with being dizzy. Hopefully we can do alot of it my phone or computer. I'll let you know. I have to keep my oxygen level at 90 or above and I just can't do it, so I know I need help.

GB, I'm so sorry you didnt pass, are you close? I know what you mean about not feeling like it, I have several days like that. My Dr. told me the other day that a person can get overhelmed real easy when not feeling well. Heres hoping you start feeling well!!

    Hi if I forgot you!

It didnt frost last night yippeee!! The garden is still going fine, yea. Its only in the 60's today so have the windows open and a fresh air breeze is blowing!! aww, feels so good!!
today is free dump your junk day, so everyone is hauling out branches, old furniture, pots and plants. Our yard still looks like a wild overgrown forest!

    Today
get rid of the junk outside
help with a big job, done
    look for grocery sales...

Have a wonderful day, don't forget to stop and smell the roses.....

    TGIF!!

TDN my washer and dryer are in with the downstairs half bath!! I've never thought it was weird either! hahaha

GB sorry about not passing the PT test

SD I loved your story about you and DH enabling each other on the Duluth run Oh yeah, you're going to Duluth. New garage toys here you come!!

FW aww...poor puppy. I know it's got to be brutal to listen to him whine in there and fuss but it's the safest place for him. Is he where he can see you guys? Or does that make it worse? The countdown is on I'll bet for when he can be sprung.

ILC is DS back now for a while or is this a quick visit? How did the dormers go for your DH? Was he able to get them done?

Pinetree, no, not moving in yet but moving some stuff here and there. Got a couple more things to finish before we can get an occupancy permit from the town to move in. But it won't be long so we are packing and moving some boxes over and putting them in closets for now etc so we'll move in bits and pieces basically rather than just get up and move everything in one day. We've been trying to sort and toss stuff as we pack because we chose a much smaller house than this one to have for retirement as we just won't need this big space for the two of us plus I'm totally over cleaning a big house. But we have accumulated so much "stuff" over the 24 years we've been here that it's ridiculous.

As for today I babysat the one year old for the morning then this afternoon I fell asleep and slept for two hours. How can a one year old be so exhausting?? LOL. I took a walk when I got up to clear the cobwebs and now back in here ready for the evening. DH is napping now and I think I'm going to sort through a box he came across full of old pics etc. I think it's stuff from my grandmother's old house so it should be interesting to look through. What I don't keep I can pass on to my sister I think.

Rona, It sounds like it was a lovely service and I'm so glad you were able to attend.

Hi Bernice, OM, Niko, Ayanka and anyone I missed.
    Have a great night!

Pinetree, so sorry about your computer. I hope you can get a good deal on one soon. It's hard to do without a computer anymore these days. If I see a free one, I'll be sure to let you know. Hope you can get to the rehab for your health. COPD is nothing to mess with. How far are you from Denver?

Hikr, oh, yeah, we're going to Duluth! Ugh. Superior too. Back into Packer territory again. Maybe we should paint our license plates green and gold. LOL. We need to go to Harbor Freight for the winch but we're probably not going to buy any tool storage yet. We're not far enough along with the garage makeover to know what we need, haven't even really started it yet in fact, still just trying to purge some of the excess. I did get ahold of the ReStore and apparently I actually got the manager, who was very helpful. She measured the two desks I wanted to know about, gave me prices, checked for me to see if all the drawers worked right, described details to me, etc. Very, very helpful. She said she might put them on sale for their weekly Saturday sale and to watch Facebook tonight because she'd post that ad before seven tonight. The desks are each $35 so dirt cheap to begin with. It's not that easy to find an L-shaped desk at all, let alone one that's cheap. Neither of the desks are in perfect condition of course, so we'll have to look them over quite well to make sure they're solid. If they are, then I suppose they might need a paint job. Husby is really interested in the U-desk idea. Sure wish I had thought of it a week ago. I hope we don't drive two and a half hours only to discover we hate both of them.

Sounds like you're making progress with the move. Hope you can be completely moved pretty soon.

Hikr=no isolated. He needs the rest and will whine away and then crash. DH sits w/ him on the bed reading while holding his collar. I been slipping the sedative in w/ fancy feast and dog kibble.
I got stupid tonight and went and got him the collar I needed. The one he came w/ is super crap. So anyway they had a tiger costume for $12. Holy Crud. I am that person. I hope to take a picture and have DD load it for my Avatar soon.

Poor DD got written up at work. She ttok her lunch at the cafe. SOme lady wanted the salad bar filled so she asked someone else to do it. The lady called back and she has a permanent mark in her file. This may wreck her chance of asst. manager. What a bunch a... She has some real old people loonies. Some lady eats 1/2 c of butter from a cup, another guy steals coffee,Some kids was standing on the ice cream cooler and the Dmoms like he's just playing! I think I'd commit a homicide a day there. Working w/ the public.Yikes!!

The desks and all the office furniture are on sale at ReStore tomorrow for 30% off. Wow!

Wish we were home again. It's going to seem like forever getting there tomorrow, just because we'll be anxious to see the desks again to find out if they'll work for us.

Well, today was a poor me day, but I am feeling better. The birthday package that I sent my daughter was lost and it put me in a funk, but finally she found that her landlord had put it in an area that she never goes to, so she got it after all. I talked myself out of cleaning house, so I finished reading Heartwood and now I've started A Little Bit Country by Debbie Macomber. The high tomorrow is only going to be in the 80s. Yeah! DH took me to buy groceries and then to the dollar store to by groceries for our Harvest Sunday at church to fill our food pantry. I plan on going to the farmers' market tomorrow before I have to go to the theatre. After I get home, I will clean my house and do laundry. DH doesn't know it yet, but he is going to help me.
