Gbug I hope you feel better enough for church and the concert. I'm right with you about the house cleaning--it can wait but you need to take the time to enjoy good weather.
Nomad, yes, we're usually a pretty busy group.
fw, glad to hear your throat, etc., feel somewhat better. Do you think all of it was caused by the tooth?
SD, you got some good stuff yesterday. I'm wondering if we should get one of those tool cabinet things....our tools are currently in 4 different places around the house. DH grumps and gripes about it but he isn't motivated enough to actually deal with it. Maybe, with a cabinet....hmmmm, and Christmas is coming....I need to think about this
Rona, LOL about the terms you came up with for the alternate for "squirreled away." Did I mention I rescued 2 chipmunks the other day from two of our kitties? Both were brought into the house and I had to track them down and relocate them to the woods behind the house. One was a baby, so cute, and he pretty much cowered in a corner, but the other was older and more sophisticated in How to Escape from Humans, so I had to do some searching and chasing. Meanwhile our cats were terribly proud of themselves for presenting us with such generous and thoughtful gifts.
pinetree, DS is moving back in December when the semester is over. Till then it's just short visits home.
Last night it went to 41 and it's supposed to again for the next night or two. But by the end of the week the highs will be around mid-70s and lows in the 50s. Yesterday was warm in the sun but once it got dark it got cold quickly. We had to flip the heat on while dressing this a.m. and even DH mentioned that tonight we need another blanket on the bed.
1) Church and breakfast at Krystal DONE
2) Bake either cheesecake or something pumpkin
3) Vacuum/mop (from yesterday)
4) Sort through a pile of picture frames currently stored in DS's room
5) Go through paper for coupons
6) Put Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes together and go through my stash of gifts already bought
Have a really nice Sunday, ladies.

Hi, the first sign of winter...it was spitting snow this afternoon. It didn't lead to any accumulation and it only lasted maybe 15 minutes (naturally it was the 15 minutes I was outside taking a walk LOL) but I'm really not quite ready. I don't mind winter (unless I have to drive in bad weather) but it's too early. Every year I want a white Christmas. After that the snow is free to leave at any time.
I haven't accomplished much today. Just feeling so lazy today. Yesterday's plans went by the wayside as when DH got up he suggested we head to the wildlife park to see the new beaver exhibit. It had been raining earlier although by the time he got up it was sunny so I said OK and off we went hoping we'd make it through before the predicted showers hit. The weather held out and we were able to see all the animals. The new exhibit is nice and when we were there we saw a chipmunk zip into the enclosure and share some of the fruit that the beaver was eating. I snapped a shot but we'll see if I can get it up on here or not. LOL! Two of the fawns that came in orphaned have been released into the wild and the third one will remain permanently at the park. She's a piebald deer and has some muscular / skeletal deformities from birth. The wardens suspect that she wasn't orphaned but that her Mom abandoned her due to the issues she had. However, she's doing well and getting around well but her gait is a little awkward and she isn't as fast as a typical deer. You toss that into the mix along with her coloring and she's a sitting duck (deer?) for hunters and wouldn't make it through the first winter. There really isn't anything they can do to heal the deformities either so she's going to stay there permanently where she will be well cared for. As much as I hate to see animals kept in captivity I do know there are valid reasons for keeping some of them and this is one of them. The park's ultimate goal is to rehab and release any animal that they can but sometimes it just isn't possible and I'm OK with it for those reasons.
Anyway, so we spent quite a bit of time at the park visiting the animals and then when we got home DH was so tired he had to nap. I did get through some more papers and pictures and cleaned the bathroom downstairs.
This morning I went grocery shopping and got a menu somewhat planned out for the week. I got my exercise in and poked through some more paperwork. I hate paperwork. And there's just a never ending stream of it....
ILC my doctor's appt is tomorrow morning. Hope you had / have a nice visit with your DS. What a mess that must have been trying to corral and catch those two chipmunks. Yikes! Did you wind up baking cheesecake or pumpkin?
FW glad the earache is subsiding. How's the headache? Wow, your neighbor is really going to town on that house isn't he?? It's about time they cleaned it up as from what you'd said it wasn't a great situation. Hopefully their tree removal will help your raking situation too. Less leaves = less raking! How's little dog today?
Pinetree I would worry too about those A1C numbers at 12 something too. That's really, really high. DH is a diagnosed diabetic on oral medication and his A1C at his last check in August was 6.6 down form 8.7 in November of last year. I have read somewhere that when the body is under stress your numbers can run higher and if you'd been drinking Coke due to illness plus you were in the ER maybe that was the contributing factor? Do they plan to retest it soon? I'm glad they finally got your chart corrected to reflect that you are a non smoker! And you are so right, it's really hard trying to change things and get all the stuff to line up correctly. I get so frustrated at times. But it's a process and I do think I'm getting better at juggling somewhat. We shall see after the appointment tomorrow though.
SD glad you got some deals and glad you made it home safely. Long day on the road I'll bet. I like your chipmunk analogy
Rona when is your appt with the physio?? Hopefully they will have some answers for you on the knee.
RootedNomad Hi! Nice to meet you and welcome! We are definitely a busy group but it's a nice place to hang out!
GB nice win at the casino! Yay!! I hope you can make it out to hear the music. That sounds like it would be a lovely evening.
Hope you all have a great night!

Wow, we are moving today!
Nomad, Great to see you, I think about you often, SO glad you are doing better. This moves pretty fast somedays, but we have fun and support one another, Welcome Home!!
GB, WTG, on making hte extra money!! Have a good time at your concert tonight!
FW, Hope you are feeling better. Hows Hunter doing?
I have SAD lights I sit under during the winter and they really help. Home depot has them.
Rona. Take it easy, it will be there tomorrow. Yes, Shorts are in order, we are in the upper 70's is rather warm, but I'm sure the snow will show up, it always does!
SD, Wtg on the desk, surprises me they made you pay!! lol, Get some rest, oh harbor freight, I can spend all day in there!! You are really getting things put up and away!
IlC, Wow, you are really cold!! How cute with the chipmunks, we only have them here in the mounntains, people feed them.
Oh, Yes, Cheesecake, Take a huge bite for me!!
Niko, sending up prayers and thinking about you. Sure hope this is helping you, hugs
Ayanka, OM, Bernice, Hikr, did I forget someone? Hi, Hope you are doing well!
Ok, I lived thru yesterday, barely.. Went to our sons to help set up the salt tank, took my small oxygen bottle. I kept having problems with getting air so kept sitting down and resting, thinking I was wore out from the day before, I even laid down and fell asleep for a bit, just wore out. Well about 4 hours later, I just couldn't catch my breath, I yelled for help, my level kept dropping, I'm not suppose to get below 90, well I'm at 88, then drops to 87, then 86, help!! Theres no air coming thru my tube!! Dh thought my tank was empty, 85, help!! 84.. Then I heard someone yell, We forgot to turn it ON!!! AWWW, air!!!!
I was pretty scared, nothing I did was working, it was really funny, tho, DS looked at his Dad and said, didnt you try this before?!!lol, Dh felt really bad, he would feel even worse when he finds out I dont have much life Ins.!!!lol
I am taking it easy today, making sure I have air, for sure!! I'm not moving!!
I have been talking to my bf all morning, she is so funny sometimes, she can sure cheer people up, well she does me anyway, she ia a real blessing.
go to bed
Yep its a recoup day!!
have a wonderful day folks!!

Hey Hikr, we posted at the same time, Good Luck with your Drs. appt tomorrow, I hope it goes good!
Thats way cool on all the animals!! I can't wait for pictures!
My Dh smokes, I think they smell it on him and think its me. My first test was the high one, all of them since has been 5. something.. Sometimes all a person does is fight with them. Somehow it will work out I hope!!
You can keep the snow, I really dont want any, heard upper NY and Michigan got 7 inches..Pine trees, with their needles pointing up to heaven, represent everlasting light and life.

Rona-to be chipmunk like=chipmunkiferous lol nope!
We always say we are "magpie-ing again when we go out Garage saling and gather lots bits and bobs.
Little dog is a brat of squeakiness today. OMG!!! he was sleeping on the bed w/ DH w/ the light off last night and he tried to move him. OOOOH sounds of horror! He snarled and growled. I turned on the light and talked to him until he was wide awake. No,no house w/ kids. I told DH that he sleeps deep and that poor baby has had to defend himself at some point. He saw me and was all so sorry and submitting. I just held him and cooed to him. I had Dh put him in the crate. He needs to be fixed immediately when he's better.
As far as feeling better he is. His eyes are clearer and the lump swelling and warmness are gone from the injection site. I got him a new collar at Big Lot Yesterday to replace the crappy one he had. Its neon orange and matches his new lead. The Halloween Tiger costume is a bit bigger so I will prob. Avatar his plaid checked coat picture. Silly meeee!!!
Wishing Dh will get a position soon. This hanging sucks. I need the furnace and wish I could get it w/o angst. I have the cash. Just dont want to cut us short.
My attitude of gratitude is a bit shaky today. Need to reset.
ILC-I think grinding and clenching in my sleep from all the stress. Its the edge between a filling and a bit that broke. Plan on making an appt. this week w/ the dog settling in a bit. The sore throat and ear are sinuses.
Pinetree-your still on oxygen? I thought you got taken off.
Hikr-Are you near that preserve/zoo that those 2 people run. The guy is a vietnam vet. I watched the show yesterday and didnt catch the right name, sorry.

Man, how am I going to catch up!
Ayanka, I hope your hands are completely healed soon.
Hikr, good luck at the doc's! I hope there's good news there.
LOL, Rona! It seems like people like the term 'chipmunking' but you can use whatever you want. Don't work too hard. I hope you get good news about the gardening and your knee.
Welcome back, Rooted Nomad! That's still a cool avatar.
GB, who cares if the house isn't clean. It's probably better than ours! Congrats on beating the casino at its own games.
ILC, we bought this rolling cart at Harbor Freight. 26 in. 4 Drawer 580 lb. Capacity Glossy Black Roller Cart
We also have two tool cabinets we bought at Ace Hardware. They offer those a couple times a year for about $100, which is a pretty good deal IMO. They're not huge but they hold a ton of stuff.
We got the new one assembled today and it's pretty nice. It should help our tool organization a lot. Sounds like you're getting some cold temps.
Pinetree, turn that oxygen ON!!! Scary! Glad that's all that was wrong though.
FW, glad the doggy is feeling better. Hope your husband finds work soon. I hate that this job thing is hanging over you both.
We put together the new tool cart, as I said. We're going to love it. Husby kept saying he was glad we picked that one. He was the one pushing for one that cost quite a bit more, so I'm happy he's happy. It's a very nice cart and should serve us well.
Then we backed the truck up to the house and dragged in the new desk. As if my back didn't hurt before. But we both wanted to see it in place. It's going to work out great! I was happy to find a label in a drawer identifying the desk as a HON. They're very good desks. I'm guessing it's from the seventies. It's got some scratches and dings but the drawers all work great and it's sturdy and not too bad to look at. It looks like this one except the return is a couple inches lower than the main desk.
We found out there'll be space to the left of the desk for the waste basket and the file cabinet we bought last week, and to the right there'll be space for a smaller, cheapo file cabinet. To the right of that, he can stash the excess pop he can't resist stockpiling. I've been trying to make a home somewhere for that stuff for years, so that'll help a lot. Except for the pop, everything is more or less the same color as the desk in the picture, so he'll even be all matchy-matchy completely by accident. I think we're going to paint the walls some kind of tan. He's not saying a lot but I can tell he's getting excited at the idea of having a nice, organized office. He keeps saying talking about having gotten the desk so cheap. I think he's in shock. We went from believing that desk was unworkable to having it work out way better than expected, which is always nice.
He let me sort out a big box of pocket portfolios and I sorted about 90% of them to toss. He's okay with that. He has tentatively agreed to get rid of most of the ring binders, cassette tapes, manila folders, and some other non-controversial items. All of that's going to help so much. We're planning a dump run later in the week if the weather works out, and will get rid of all the old monitors, which is going to hurt since they all still work fine, we just don't have any use for them. We're going to take the Sawzall and cut up an old easy chair and the two cabinets he always insisted he had to keep, and the tabletop he had on top the two cabinets. Clearing out all that will make a huge difference.
I cleaned the entire outside of the desk including the bottom, and two of the five drawers inside. It needed it! It looks pretty decent now. Husby is very happy with it which sort of surprises me. He wasn't at all enthused about it last weekend when we first saw it, but somewhere along the line he changed his mind completely.
Still very tired. I'm glad it's Monday tomorrow!

Good morning! Doc appt this morning and then I'm headed to Target. Both DGDs are going to be a black cat for Halloween. There is a party at the wildlife park that we all attended last year which was a blast. They gave us all these red papers to put over our flashlights so as not to ruin our night vision and then you could go through the park and see the animals out at night. They had games etc set up for the kids and what not. We all had an awesome time so we're going again this year.
I decided that I am going to dress up as a black cat also to surprise the girls. The littlest won't get it of course but the 4 year old will. I asked DD if she thought that DGD would get a kick out of that or if it was a dumb idea and she said no, she thought she'd love it. So for the little one I'll do it. Now DD is making an orange tutu with black trim for the girls and with my hips I refuse to wear a tutu (good heavens, just take a moment and picture that??? Now pick yourself up off the floor from your laughing fit....). But I do have a black turtleneck and a black fleece jacket. I need to find a pair of black pants which I need anyway in my new size and I can easily make a black tail to pin to my pants and black ears which I can attach to a headband. I can draw whiskers on my face with an eyeliner or eyebrow pencil or something cheap like that. So, Target here I come
Speaking of the grands they are coming this afternoon as well. The bummer about today is we will be missing our water aerobics class because when I scheduled this doc appt and my hair appt tomorrow I didn't know we'd be taking the class so I booked the appt at 9 and it interferes with class. Darn it all. So we'll just go Wed-Fri this week.
So that's my day. Dinner is easy since it's going to be hectic today with baked chicken strips and roasted potatoes. I seriously doubt I'll get much more done in other arenas of life but we shall see.
ILC your weather sounds like our early fall. It's hot then cold. You leave in the morning dressed warmly then by afternoon you're wishing you had shorts! What are your average winter temps?? I'm guessing in the 50's or 60's maybe?
Pinetree that must have been super scary about the oxygen tank! Yikes. I'd have been freaking out. I'm glad you got it figured out before it got much lower. That's great you got to have a nice chat with your friend. A good long chat with a dear friend is just what the doctor orders sometimes. Oh I bet you're right and the doctor thought you were the smoker vs your DH. Glad you got that straightened out.
FW sounds like a rough night with little dog being so scared and combative when he was awoken. You handled it perfectly though and once he realized he was safe he must have felt so badly that he acted that way. Poor pup. He'll eventually get to a point where waking unexpectedly like that won't throw him for a loop but it might be a little rough for a while till he's confident he's not going anywhere else. I bet he's adorable in his plaid jacket and I can't wait to see that. Even if you cant' do the Tigger costume as it's a little big at least snap a shot for us so we can see him. I bet it's still precious. I hope your DH is settled soon. I know when my DH went through periods like this with job issues it was hard on him but also hard on me. I never did well being in limbo. The show you were watching is Yankee Jungle and it's about Dew Animal Kingdom and Sanctuary. That's about an hour from us, we've never been although we plan to go at some point. We watched the episodes they'd aired last season and I read that was more of a test to see if it was well received by the viewing audience and if it was they'd pick it up as a series. I then heard they did pick it up which will be great for them as it would be a good money stream. They run on a shoestring but it's clear they love the animals and take good care of them. The wildlife park we go to so often is just Maine wild animals whereas Dews has exotic animals as well.
SD great desk and tool box! I have never been to Harbor Freight. I have a feeling that if I took DH in there we'd be in there all day. I should though sometime. I've heard they have some good deals. How are you feeling this morning? Did you sleep well or did the pup keep you up?
Hi Nomad, Bernice, Niko, Ayanka, Rabbit (I think of you and Cadbury often!)
Better hustle. Gotta get to the doc's. Have a good day!
10-19-2015, 09:32 AM #3053
Hey Hikr-Any old black pantyhose? Ya gotta have a tail? Just stuff one leg and tuck the other plus a safety pin???
We can handle difficult animals-seems our forte? Yogi gets so jealous w/ Dh and the other dog overnight. I cant risk elevating the heart rate so little dog is seperated.
Yes,thats the right place. I am terrified and drawn. They have lions and tigers and a non pro staff. I love the care and love they have. I just wouldnt want to live near them. And yes I know the show is prob. making idiots of how they appear for tv.
Gross alert but kinda funny. Poor DD. She has a bad realtionship w/ my black mama cat. She hates her for clipping her nails and catching her for me for the vet. So she finally let DD pet her and she picks her up. (gross part)-so a cyst under her chins bursts all over DD's arm and the floor and cat. DD gets the hydrogen peroxide to clean it. Gracie hates her again.lol I'll keep an eye on it but it should heal on its own. Poor DD. Poor cat.
Need to sort some old food from the pantry as its garbage day. and grab a few groc. for the week.
Going to be a week cluttered w/ appt.
10-19-2015, 09:42 AM #3054
ILC-it was 34 here last night. But we were promised possible 70's next week. One more time please!!
SD-we have the exact chest in red. Dh got it when he lived at home?
Pretty sure thats the desk he had in the last bsmt office too? He finally made a wood top in this office and just bridged 2 desks. I so want the old press board one to die. Little hope.
10-19-2015, 09:57 AM #3055
Friday I got my list done plus more and house was amazingly clean!! But then we picked up the grankids( 3 & 6) for the night so I am getting it back in order today! I don't want to complain about the kids because they are good kids but it was a little rough this sleepover, not very good listening happening and the 6 year old started school this year and was just a slight bit disrespectful of Grama. I probably have over the top expectations though because we were taught absolute respect for adults....ESPECIALLY the grandparents!
So today will be
1)tons of laundry ( the part finally came for hubby to fix washer...yay!)
2)clean kitchen and organize fridge
3)clean up at least 2 of the garden beds( they are small)
10-19-2015, 10:57 AM #3056
ILC weren't your cats so kind to bring you the chipmunks!! Turns out they bring us live prey because we are part of their family and they don't see us hunt so they are trying to teach us. Can't you just imagine life from a cats point of view ie" those poor humans, look at them frightened of a mouse & then won't even eat it.... sigh!" I'm like you I've just added more blankets to all the beds
Hikr, the park sounds lovely & your right the wee faun will be much better off with ye. Black cat sounds like a great idea.
Pinetree thanks you're right the work isn't going anywhere You must've gotten a real fright yesterday over your tank. I hope you relaxed for the rest of the day!
FW lol my Nan always thought I was part Magpie, anything shiny & I'd bring it home Poor wee dog, yep getting fixed might help the initial fight reflex. Have a candle lit for your dh to get a job soon, I'd imagine it must be very frustrating for both of ye. Your poor dd, that sounded gross and weirdly funny all at the same time
SD Your office sounds like it must be nearly finished now, have you much left to do? That was a great buy. Hope you got some rest.
Hi TDN, peanut, Ayanka & everyone else
Today I got the kids away and went into town to sort out Halloween stuff, got most of it but had to traipse around the place looking for glow sticks, no joy, will have to go again. Found the driving hard on the knee, so I'm having a cuppa before all the kids descend, then chores, dinner for the evening. Hope everyone has a great day

Hikr--Sounds like a lot of fun with the kids. I love doing things with my grands.
FR2--We are in the 70s here and it is wonderful considering that we have been in the 90s.
TDN--I know how fantastic you feel getting things done. I am definitely a list person.
Made it to the dr. and physical therapy. Took my glasses to get the prisms put in and made it to the post office. Plan on getting my haircut this afternoon and then maybe take my free play to the casino and see if I can do as well as I did on Saturday. Not taking any of my own money.
10-19-2015, 04:11 PM #3058
Hi everyone! Good Afternoon!! Yep overslept again and moving slowly..
TDN, Oh I am jealous, I wish My house was all cleaned up! wtg!!
FW, I hope the little one calms down for you, That if so funny and gross about your poor DD!! Ick! Hope they are both ok!!
Nope, never got off oxygen, remember my tests showed they were only at about 50% Tell you what tho, it is sure a pain, keeps you from doing alot, my tank is so heavy I can't carry it, and its a pain trying to switch out to the smaller one, thats why I dont go outside alot anymore.. Then I have 60 ft of hose to drag around.
SD, We have the same tool chest too, only in red, we love it, Keeps things where they need to be! You will love it! Sounds like you really are getting things under control!
ILC, Hope you are out enjoying yourself!! Maybe a really good lunch? MAybe chicken?? hint hint!!
Rona, How is your knee doing? Is any better? You better be taking care of it, before it gets alot worse!!
GB, WTG, Hope you make a bunch more money from the casino!! Have fun anyway!! We are in the high 70's, sounds like Texas is getting a break!. There was a story on the news about texas might be flooding too, but I think it was for along the coast.
Niko, Nope I am NOT giving up, sending up prayers for you.
OM, Sure hope you are OK, How is that baby doing??
Hikr. You are having so much fun, you need to post some pictures, you know I live thru you guys!
Hi to Ayanka, bernice, Nomad and any one else I forgot

Hello to ALL!
This thread definitely moves really fast and I know I won’t be able to check in everyday so I am going to apologize in advance for missing some things and just attempt to keep up.
ILC- It was really cold here Saturday and Sunday night too. The drop was drastic. My comfy house clothes went from shorts and tank tops with bare feet to long sleeve tees with a sweatshirt with “fuzzy” pants and “fuzzy” socks in a 24 hour period.
SD – The desk looks wonderful and it’s very cool that your DH let you pitch stuff. Mine fights me over everything I want to pitch.
H ikr– The wildlife park by you sounds like fun. We don’t have a wildlife park right here but our zoo does the night thing around this time of year and we went a couple of times when the boys were younger. We always enjoyed it.
Pinetree – Holy cow on the oxygen thing. That must’ve been pretty scary. I am a fruitcake when I’m congested I can’t imagine watching a number telling me my oxygen level is getting lower and lower.
GB – Way to go on the freeplay to cash!
Yesterday (Sunday) was a good day. I got through pulling the clothes out of my closet for consignment, went on a run – which is becoming more of a struggle lately - , and read pages and pages of this thread until I had so confused myself and decided that I was better off just jumping in, and managed to get DS#2 both to work and home again. With DH away this gave me a chunk of time in the house by my lonesome. That has so NOT happened much lately I completely enjoyed puttering. I got two loads of laundry done, made some blueberry muffins, lemon cookies, biscuits, and some chocolate pretzel bark along with dinner. Anyway it was both productive and peaceful.
Today was suppose to be a normal day at work, hit the gym for a lower body weight workout, straighten the house and then pick DS#2 up from a study group. It ended up being wwwwwwoooooorrrrrkkkkk, finally get to leave and rush straight to pick DS#2 up.
Hedging my bets for tomorrow. Hopefully I can: get that leg workout in, work a normal 8 hour day, send out some of DS#2’s school papers, switch two doctors appointments. If all goes really well I might just catch up my finance spreadsheet.

Hikr, was your doc full of good news today? Hope so. I'm always tired these days. Sugar got me up about one and then wouldn't go back to sleep, so I was up and down with her till about four. Always fun. My being tired is nothing to worry about. I'm just whining.
FW, eeeewwwwwww! Poor daughter and poor kitty, like you said. I have no difficulty murdering pressed wood in its sleep. Hate that crap!
TDN, yea for a clean house! I'm trying to imagine mine clean. Hold on..... Nope, can't do it. But maybe someday. Still working on that.
Rona, we're actually working on getting two offices in order. Husby has an office in our house, and he's a worse packrat than me, if that's even possible. It makes me insane, and it's worse now because in order to make working space in there for the stuff we need to do, he's now moved a bunch of stuff into the guest room and elsewhere in the house, so his mess is leaking out all over the place. We're just starting on his office. One of the first things we need to do is pick paint colors, and then I have to paint and install baseboard that was never put in when we pulled out the carpet. My office is in a three-room cabin across the yard from our house. We've been working on that for two or three months now. There's a few UFOs to finish up and I still have a big pile of picture frames left to sort. But there's been great progress out there and I love being back in there working. I haven't worked out there for several years. We bought two big entertainment centers for storage out there earlier this year, and that's done wonders for organizing. It's all starting to come together. I've been doing some minor updating of the decor and love how that's turning out, without spending a lot of money.
Pinetree, why can't I go out on the lake now without thinking about you and looking for things I can use to paint a picture for you? We took the bikes out at suppertime tonight. There was a breeze so light it almost wasn't there, so the water was barely rippling. Today was warm and sunny, a perfect fall day. I worked outside most of the day and kept listening for loons, and heard only some soft mumbling and muttering, not the usual bold, loud calls. When we were out, we found our lone loon but not our little family. I think the family left and the loner was calling for them softly today. They never answered and that's another reason I think they're gone. So we said goodbye again to the lone loon. I hope he's back next spring. He's been coming to our cove for years and years. We were going to take a long ride, but realized it would be dark before we got back. Nope, not giving the BFRs a chance to rise up out of the water and darkness and drag us into the deep like a freshwater kraken. Instead, we looped around one of the bigger islands, the one with the house on it. They have their dock pulled in, too. We're so far behind everyone else. So we came home before the kraken awakened. The sun setting over the lake was gorgeous, all red and pink and gold and shimmering on the water. It was unbelievably quiet out there, like it's been all day long with almost no wind. This really might be our last ride this year, and it was a great ride even though it was short.
I got quite a bit done today, lots of little stuff again.
~remember the RV awning we took off our motorhome last year about this time and put up on the house? I finished that installation today. Now it's usable, finally. I may still do a small mod on it, but will wait till we've used it a little next year to see if it needs anything more. Such a relief to have that all done. It's bugged me all summer when we wanted to use it and couldn't.
~altered the grill cover for the second time. I'm still not happy but it fits slightly better. At least the grill will be covered and protected this winter.
~washed three loads of bedding. Poor Sugar.
~reattached the two gate panels that came apart. They need hinges installed and some other work and paint but I don't want to take the time this fall.
~installed the camper latches on the utility trailer. All that needs now is to figure out where the pins are to lock them closed. It looks like they're going to work out nicely.
~washed out the new file cabinet drawers.
~cut some of that rubbery stuff to put inside Husby's desk drawers.
~did some minor sorting in Husby's office. I don't dare do too much, but he has lots of empty boxes and crap like that which I know he doesn't want, so I think I'm going to try sorting stuff like that and see how it goes. He does best with things like getting rid of clothes if I sort and set aside the things I think he should let go of. Then he goes through what I've marked for purging and usually doesn't save much of anything, so I'm hoping it'll go the same way with his office. Guess I'll find out. He doesn't have time to sort all that crap and I don't think he knows where to start, so if I can help the process along, great.
~found a nice wire locker shelf I salvaged on the last trip to the dump and decided I like it a lot for a shelf I need in my office.
~cleaned up a yard full of trash the bear tossed around last night. Stupid bear.
~test-drove my new wireless mouse (Not free, Pinetree! But 66% off! ). Love that!
~set up the awning so it could air out before winter. Still in great shape. It's going to be so nice to have shade there next summer.
~cleared off most of the pool table to make space to sort all the electronics from Husby's office so we can haul them out Saturday.
~moved some tools into the new tool cabinet.
~set up the new fancy shmancy Porta Potti so that's ready to go. (Yes, I did say 'go.') Electric flush, woohoo!
Seems like I did some other stuff, too, but I forget now.
Not sure what's on tap for tomorrow. Sorting some stuff in Husby's office, for sure.
