Doubt that would be tolerated there with all the kids involved. I hope it won't be a bad experience for your daughter.
I don't have any desire to eat out, unless you count eating out of the freezer. :D Besides, we're reeling our spending back in and have sworn off restaurants lately. We're too lazy to drive into town to eat out anyway. It's less work eating at home. I may succumb to the frozen pizza though, not a good thing.
Cook's not near us. It's fifty miles. We're crazy. :sigh:

Sd-It's an adult haunted house not for kids. We have gone to an estate that far away. Crazy is in the eye of the beholder. I didnt see anything to die for on the article but I'm sure given 10 min there I could find something.
We went to the Sportsman Club dinner and had fun. All the traffic from the kid friendly haunted house was there. They run that as their 2nd source of income beyond the fish/chicken dinner. Memeberships are limited and seniors/workers get rates. Its a nice folksy atmosphere.
I did the S.A. also but neither of us left w/ anything.
We got the rain now so IDK what today brings.
Going to redo the budget today for October.
10-24-2015, 08:26 AM
FW2--I love festivals and events this time of year.
Today is my class and showcase. I have had fun, but I'm ready to have my Saturdays back. So much rain and more to come.
10-24-2015, 09:59 AM
Gbug, sorry about all the rain you're getting. I guess it's from Hurricane Patricia? I have relatives in El Paso and San Antonio so I know they're either getting it or will get it soon. Stay safe! We're supposed to have rain Mon-Wed and I think we will because my knee is hurting like crazy.
hikr, your little grandbabies sound like so much fun! We don't have any yet but hope to someday, but not any time soon---my kids aren't yet mature enough to be parents. Sometimes I wonder if they will ever be!
fw, I'm with you on haunted houses. Halloween used to be innocent and fun and now it's just plain gross. I love October, and I adore fall, but Halloween just bothers me.
pinetree, missing you and thinking about you!
Everyone else, hi! Hope everything is well with you. om, how is that baby?
Why is it that I stay busy all day but don't get things done on my To Do list? In other words, some of today's list will be yesterday's list. I did end up getting the screened porch cleaned up and getting some baking done for the freezer.
1) Record recent expenditures
4) Get coupons together for Kroger shopping trip
5) Unload/reload dishwasher
6) Gather donation items
7) Change our sheets
I guess that's it. Have a lovely day, everybody.

Good Morning Ladies!
Just played a quick catch up. Glad to hear some of you are feeling a little better and inspited by those of you that are getting so much done. Getting ready to head out to work. (on a Saturday:dispirited:) However, I'll get a lot more done without tons of people in. I've got a few more weeks of crazy work hours and then things should let up.
Yesterday was just getting through the normal work, run, dinner, transport kid to work stuff. I did take a couple of hours in front of the boob-tube with DH and my run was better than it has been in a while. This morning has been about getting the morning routine going before I get dropped at work and DH takes DS#2 to practice parellel parking for his drivers test. My allergies are really acting up which for me isn't about itchy eyes but instead the pounding sinus headach. I think I've finally got it meidcatied as good as it's going to get for the day.
As for the rest of today I just plan on trying to knock some things out at work and do dinner and clean up when I get home.
Hope you all have good day!

DD had to be at work at 6 a.m. ! so that threw the little dog off and there went my sleep in Sat.!
I bought groceries w/ DD's discount card-yipee! We are also trading her $15. bday GC for rent money. DH has zero work bites. Things are just on hold! no yes and no no's.
I got sucked into an estate sale. Not my fault-1/2 off everything and some nice things. I found 2 NIP watches for Dh. 1 is like a spy watch w/ camera. He got super happy which I'm glad of. This work thing has him in a panic. He went back to the sale but found nothing else. So 2 watches $17.00.
My pushy neighbor was there. He literally will push you to the side to look when your already standing there. Everytime I am looking at something he is in my space. He can be across the sale. He missed the wind up flashlights last time and he didnt see the watches either. They sell online. I just want stuff for the Fam. and no one on my toes!! lol
Little dog lost is shxx last night so I took him off the meds. I cant keep an aggressive dog. He growled at DD and charged her and later DH. Pretty sure it was the meds but I am seriously reconsidering him. He get possessive of toys. And nutty if he is sleeping deep and someone wakes him. I hope he isnt too damaged. We still have 20 days left of the 1st HW caging.
GB-its rained on and off and just started pouring again. Guess Kroger will wait.
Had a virus today and slept some. The 2 days prior I felt flushy but no fever or sugar spikes>so today I got my answer. Prob. light flu due to taking Dmom to the Dr''s. office. Wish I could get flu shots-stooopid eggs.lol
If the weather permits I think DH and a dog and I need to walk in the woods. Its so beautiful and very few people are there now.
ILC-agreed. Even the Halloween movies are too violent. I was just looking for Halloween town sort of movies. I need some of Dh's friends to throw a party.
Hey to Rooted Nomad and everyone esle.
Thinking about you Nikko and OM.

We've never been fans of Halloween.
FW, that sale in Cook is something else. The little stuff is in the gym and it takes up the entire space. The furniture is along the sides of the hallways and in several rooms. They also have a ton of stuff outside. When we were there in June they were having silent auctions for stuff like a pontoon, lawn tractors, grills, and other expensive things. It's not your normal sale, for sure! It wouldn't take you ten minutes to find something you wanted, I can almost guarantee! :)
It's a nice drive over to Cook. It'll be fun to see the change since June, when the lupines and other wildflowers were all blooming like crazy. Now all the leaves are off the trees. I just hope it doesn't rain because we need furniture and only have the open box of the truck to bring it home.
I'm making a list of things to look for over there, so I don't forget things. I'm sure we'll find things not on the list but we do pretty well not buying just because stuff is cheap.
ILC, I often do the same thing, do tons of stuff but not what's on the list. I don't really care, as long as I'm accomplishing something worthwhile.
Speaking of stuff we don't need, we did find something irresistible at GW today. (Not my picture.) http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/3vkAAO...kG3/s-l500.jpg
Now I have to learn to like tea! But I was planning that anyway because I need to acquire a taste for a calorie-free hot beverage. I'm hoping a cute teacup and pot will help me want to drink more tea. I've never seen a teapot arranged like this although I guess they're not unusual. The top half is a teapot for hot water or maybe to brew the tea, what do I know? The bottom is the teacup. It's so cute! It has moose, loons, pine trees, and other woodsy stuff and will look and work great in my office. It was $3.
Also got a chicken cookbook, a large one for just $2. It's like new and is from Australia. My first clue was noticing the recipes for prawns and also the metric measurements with imperial measurements in parentheses. But the recipes look intriguing and seem to be from cultures around the world. Really nice book.
We went in there for two stretchy book covers for my dictionary and thesaurus. I found those NIP for fifty cents each. Husby bought another puzzle. I'm failing as a crap Nazi. :(
We hauled trash, too. I dragged home a dryer drum to plant potatoes in. Love that. We also snagged a piece of aluminum siding from the metal pile out there to use under it, since there's no bottom in it. If I can find one more, then I think I'd have enough although I need one for the horseradish, too. We don't plant that many potatoes because we wouldn't use them fast enough in the fall.
As we were walking around the metal pile, we discovered some dumb fool had tossed a perfectly good Lodge cast iron frying pan. I don't get it. Why throw something away when it could be donated? That really bugs me. So I'll be setting up an electrolysis bath for that pretty soon. It really doesn't need anything but a good washing but I'd rather strip it since I don't know what the seasoning might be contaminated with. I have other stuff I need to reseason so I can fill up the oven and make it worth my while. The new pan is not very dirty but better safe than sorry. I don't know if I'll keep it or not. It's a nice pan.
I cleaned the bottom half of Grandma's cabinet today and decided I'm going to paint the inside but not the outside. I can see from scrubbing it the paint is going to strip off easily, and it would be beautiful refinished. It's all straight lines, too, so would be fairly easy to strip. So I'll just clean it up and put it on the 'to-do someday' list. In the meantime it'll be usable. I had forgotten that cabinet has a breadboard and when I pulled it out, the memories came rushing back. I wonder how many thousand loaves of bread Grandma sliced on that thing. I sliced my share, too. My mom is almost 87 years old and that cabinet was in Grandma's kitchen as long as she can remember, so I'm sure with six kids in that house, it saw its share of bread to be sliced. I'm glad we dug that cabinet out and so glad I decided to put it in my office. I'll be losing storage space but I'm still happy about it. It's in much better condition than I remembered, which was a nice surprise. It needs some minor repairs that won't take long or be too difficult.
We did a clunky repair of the rusted metal cabinet we were going to put in Husby's office closet. As it turns out, it won't fit in there with the shelves from my office, so we moved the metal one back out to the garage where it'll be put back to work doing what it's always done, storing tools and fasteners. I've missed having it out there so I can't say I'm sorry it didn't work out in the house. It looks bad but it's solid again, so good enough for who it's for.
We did some other boring stuff today too. Overall, fairly productive.

Hey all and happy Sunday :) I'm catching up a little bit. Man you miss a day here and it's hard to catch up. LOL.
We had the Halloween Fest at the wildlife park Friday night. That was a lot of fun. The oldest DGD loved it. The youngest, at a year old, really didn't get it but she seemed to enjoy watching the flashlights bobbing around. They had games for the kids, story time, costume parade. DGD was very impressed I was dressed as a black cat. She was highly amused by that. LOL! I had a little trouble with the tail (slammed it in the car door twice) but the headband ears stayed on nicely. I totally forgot to draw on whiskers though. Whoops. Oh well....DD did a great job making little orange and black tutus for the 'ballerina black cat" costume that DGD wanted. They were so cute. It was a lot of fun.
Yesterday we hit the wholesale clubs and got our big stuff purchased (paper towels, toilet paper etc) and met some friends for a late lunch / early dinner. It was nice. We don't get to catch up with them very often because our schedules always conflict but today just happened to work perfectly. My best friend is coming over this afternoon for a visit so I will spend this morning catching up on my cleaning (vacuuming, clean the bathrooms, sweeping etc). Planning a simple supper for this evening (bacon, egg and cheese on biscuits and hash browns) so minimal clean up. I love an easy meal.
FW you mentioned Halloween Town movie. Did you mean the Disney original movie Halloweentown? I just ordered that off Amazon a couple of weeks ago. It came as a two pack with Halloweentown and Halloweentown 2 Kalabar's Revenge. Those were our two favorite. The next two just weren't as good. We are not big Halloween people either. It's never been our thing. I don't like scary or horror stuff. And forget haunted houses. NO WAY.
I'm sorry Little Dog has had such strong reactions. How has he been off the meds? Does he seem calmer?
GB how was the class and showcase? Did all go well?
ILC yes, the grands are a ton of fun. Everyone told me grandparenting was better than parenting and I couldn't fathom that at all. Until the first one arrived. Oh were they right. I loved having DD and parenting her etc and while I couldn't picture anything better with the grands you get all of the fun stuff and none of all the hard work that comes with parenting. No responsibilities...just the fun part of kids. I love it!! I hear you on the wondering whether your kids will be mature enough to be parents. I questioned that a bit with DD and her DH too. They will :) They've watched you all these years and when the time is right they will knock it out of the park. No worries :)
Pinetree, hoping all is OK. You sound down :( Sending a hug and hoping today is a good one for you.
OM Are you enjoying the baby snuggles? Miss you around here!
RootedNomad glad work will be settling down for you soon and your hours won't be as crazy.
SD that sale sounds awesome even with the 50 mile drive to get there. Great tea pot! I love the design on it.
Hope you all have a great day!

Good Morning All!
Didn't have to worry about gettiing in to work this morning so I got out of bed and am doing a little surfing while I drink my coffee. Need to get DS#2 up and taken to work in just a bit but then the day is mine.
FW – Hope the little one can pull it together and it is just the meds.
SD – You are always going. I wish I was that productive at home. I would’ve grabbed the cast iron skillet as well. Those things are virtually indestructible.
As for my plan for the day. I'm going to try and hit the gym before noon as that is my only "gotta make it happen" besides transporting DS. After that I'm going to let the day take me where it will and see what "to dos" get my attention.
It's looking like a fall day here. Kind of grey and blustery but some days that's kind of soothing. Hope you all are feeling well this morning.
10-25-2015, 10:20 AM
Good morning to all,also!
Little dog didnt growl yesterday at all so I think it was the over meds.
He was super active though and seeing I was ill I kinda depended on Dh more w/ him. He isnt supposed to jump and I just couldnt keep up. He was yowling already today. this process is a 1 day at a time thing for sure.
DDis off today so no work drive-yeah!! Think I may catch another hour and down the water to flush the rest of this out of me. Tylenol PM really knocked me out last night. Not for all the time but I would recommend it highly.
10-25-2015, 10:39 AM
Well, the class and showcase went off without a hitch. I probably won't teach a class or direct until some time in January. I taught and directed theatre for 25 years in public school. I retired two years ago and was just going to volunteer at the community theatre theatre school and the next thing I knew I was directing The Hobbit and serving on the education board. I directed The Best Christmas Pageant Ever last Christmas, but I'm easing back into it after my stroke. I love it because I can pick and choose what I want to do. I was exhausted by the time I got home last night. Still raining here and very cool. Not complaining. We need the rain. Just doing a little laundry and reading today. I am trying to find a needlepoint Christmas stocking kit with an angel on it that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and so far I'm coming up with nothing. I have done my entire family a stocking and need to do one for my new DIL. If anyone knows where I can get one online, please let me know. I found one on eBay, but I closed my paypal account due to fraudulent charges and I have tried using a credit and a debit card and the seller won't take them even though it is an option. Hope everyone has a great fall day.
10-25-2015, 11:37 AM
Gbug, isn't it wonderful to be able to pick and choose what activities to pursue? Our rain is supposed to start tomorrow and we need it desperately. Are you getting tons of rain like other Texas folks?
TRN, glad you've got a day somewhat to yourself---a good chance to recharge your batteries.
fw, poor Hunter. And poor you! It does sound like it's a day-by-day thing with him.
The only Halloween-type movie or show I've ever really liked is It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. My Daddy always said the scariest movie he ever saw was one from the 40's called The Uninvited with Ray Milland. It's an old-fashioned ghost story and boy, Daddy was right! No blood or gore, just suspense. Very atmospheric and creepy but really excellent.
SD, I love that teapot/cup combo. Perfect for living in the woods with bears and moose and loons.
hikr, your granddaughter will have such a happy memory of all of you dressed up together. No one here would object if you posted pics :)
pinetree, hope you're feeling better. Hugs to you!
Everybody else, hi, and have a good day!
DH and I both woke up feeling like we'd been hit by a truck so we went back to bed for a couple of more hours instead of going to church. I know he needed the rest and I must have too, because I sure slept well.
1) Finish laundry
2) Work on menus
3) Do some almost-end-of-month finances
4) Clean out fridge freezer
5) Do some more filing
6) Clean out the garden area outside screened porch
Have a wonderful Sunday.
10-25-2015, 05:55 PM
Hikr - Doing the breakfast for dinner thing here as well. Scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravey, and some fruit.
ILC - Getting to go back to bed if you need to is always WONDERFUL!
Went on a run at the gym. Should have went outside the treadmill has been making my back achey Ibut I was trying to avoid aggrevating my allergies. Folded up some laundry and went to Goodwill looking for a pair of jeans. I could use a pair or two. No luck. Then on to Kroger for some staples like milk, bananas, and salt. Got a couple more things as well but those were the primary motivators. Did some laundry, cooked up some pre-made meals for me to take for lunch this week, and stuck a big pumpkin in to cook down. DH just left to go pick up DS#2 which is my que to throw the biscuits in that are prepped and waiting. Enjoy your evening all!
10-25-2015, 11:39 PM
Just hit the kitchen and flipped the Dw and cleaned the sink and top of stove while I waited for the dogs to come in.
Paid the health ins. COBRA and made out a Halloween card to Dmom. I included a picture of Ddad and her dancing at Dbro's wedding. It has me dancing w/ my Dbros newly departed best friend. It will be a treasure to her because Ddad didnt dance (even at my wedding) so its special. We were just talking about it. I didnt believe her but I see in the photo my back is to them.
Hunter has been better most of the day. I gave him another new toy and DD spent a tiny bit of time w/ him, and DH and I spent a lot. (in between being sick)
I feel overwhelmed by his situation on top of the job situation but day by day is what we will do.
I was proud of DD for checking out the health club for her SAD which comes on about now. Its next to her work and she gets 10%off a membership. Her BF needs to lose weight (pre diabetic). So she is hoping they can get together.
Also DD is officially w/o ins. So I am on her about Obamacare. She will get ins. at work but it takes another 4 months. She is too young to understand the danger she is playing w/.
Messaged Ds and got a yes,i'm ok. Better than complete silence. I guess.
Did Octobers budget. Seems like vet bill and health ins. and car ins. ate the money. Commercial Christmas is just starting to annoy me. Esp. w/ the job situation. I have prayer up for something soon.
10-26-2015, 09:33 AM
FW2--Hang in there and pray. My hospital bills are mounting, but I am focusing on people that are in a far worse situation than my own. I know that the bills will eventually get paid, so I have quit worrying.
Making potato corn chowder in the crockpot today. Feeling a bit off today. I think I might have had a TIA during my sleep. Got to mail a book today and take some costumes back to the theatre also. DH dumped all his winter shirts in the laundry room for me to wash and iron, so I will begin tackling that today, also. Not much more for me today. Praying that all of you have a fantastic and productive day.
