Real disappointed in Aldi. All their hams werent frozen. You cant refreeze pork w/o cooking so I have to wait to get my Christmas ham. DH loves ham/Ds too but it makes him a bit ill like me. DD wont touch it. It's a bit of a "Christmas Story" sort of dad and the turkey kind of story.

Hey to Rabbit and Ayanka and the rest.

FW, LOL, that poor kid is marked for life!! I dont think he will ever be the same! DH was cracking up over it.
The pear sounded good so inhaled one of those, but still ate my orange!!

I lied the eggs are at safeway, got 5 doz think will get 5 more, I need alot of eggs for my pizzels, a doz, for casserole, plus cookies etc. and they have been around the $3 mark for awhile.

Ok the pork is not cured so I have to brine it , so it will taste like ham, instead of using salt we use dehydrated celery juice, I don't know why but it works. I think I want the bourbon maple brine, thats what we used last time on the pulled pork, and oh my was it good. Plus I have some sauce from Georgia that was like eating in heaven!! Boy can they make a sauce!!

I'm wondering if I can make a kraut from the celery juice. I guess I have alot to learn!

I found some healthy cookies and things I think I will make for me, lol

Thanks RABBIT, I will try and watch that too. Hey you feeling better?

    Night..

FW, it's our dental office all over again! Ack!

Pinetree, I suppose it works because celery is naturally high in sodium. That's interesting. I never thought about using that for brining. Not that I know much about brining. It can't be as bad as salt though. I don't know if you could use it for kraut. That has to ferment, so maybe that would be different than the process for brining. Maybe you could try a couple pints and see what happens. I can't wait to hear how your fake ham turns out, but when you start with smoking something, how can it be bad?

Husby is officially my hero. I started whining about the missing ribbing and said it must be in the back closet, which is packed every inch with stuff that needs to be sorted. So without saying anything to me he went right back and started the search. He found it in about five minutes, stashed in a Christmas tote. What a relief!

I did manage to roll some logs onto a dollie and bring them to the patio. I hope to do more tomorrow. It is suppose to be 80 tomorrow before the storms begin and then colder weather. 80s in December? Only in Texas.

Up for the moment w/ dogs.
SD-Dh said he would take care of it. He feels bad but seriously.
Also worried about Ds. He said he would have his truck checked out but is working long hours. I am worried enough about the 19 hr. drive. He is driving his truck and his buddy has his truck but that still means 19 hrs. straight most likely.

Got a fasting dr's. appt at 9:45 today. I just forgot and shoved chex mix in my face. A1C should be the same but I am so mad at myself right now.

Ok I managed to get the computer back to more or less ok, at least it's a lot more speedy, though it has been defragmentating for hours now. Anyone not understanding what defragmentating is, please ask, it can help a lot in keeping your computer usable for a long time.

    To do for today:
    1. Get as much of the brown earthy stuff from the walls downstairs as possible.
    2. Clean up said above stuff.
    3. Tidy up the kitchen.
Disclaimer: European at the keyboard, unless precised, amounts are in EUR, any mistakes made because of a difference in politics, regulations or background are accidental not on purpose, please forgive me for them.

Kentucky as well. We're suppose to be looking at somewhere in the 70s this weekend. I took my son to school this morning since he missed his bus and didn't even grab a jacket.

    Good Morning Everyone!

For those of you that have been under the weather hope your feeling better this morning. (Raq- Hope there are no more germs brought home. Isn't it amazing how many they can bring in?)

Pinetree - We use a lot of eggs here as well, especially at the holidays. I would be grabbing them up as well. Egg prices have been crazy!!!

DH's surgery for the trial went ok. Not great as they had a really hard time getting stimulation to three of his fingers and so it took almost an hour longer than planned and he says his insides feel like scrambled eggs. On the plus side they've already learned that they will have to do two wires instead of one to get good stimulation to all of his fingers. We go back Monday for them to yank the wire out and the tech will be checking on him all weekend. He's pretty much confinded to not doing much of anything. Again on the plus side he said his hand feels so much better and that's the goal of this thing. Everyone thinks it's for pain and getting him off pain pills as that is what it is frequently used for and it's done through a pain management doctor. With what he's got though it's not about pain (and he's not taking pain pills) it's about the nerves that work the blood flow needing stimulated to open the capillaries and get bleed to his hand the way they're suppose to. We won't be going back this Thursday for the permenant one though. The docotor said not until some time in January. That's probably not such a bad thing seeing the shape he's in this morning.

As for me today, I should really do a run but my legs are so sore because I pushed my leg workout yesterday. We'll see how motinvated I can get myself once DS#1 is up to sit with his Dad so I can leave the house.

On the definate try to get done list:
    ~ laundry
~ get some Christmas wrapping done
~ finish all the Christmas decorating with the two boys this evening
~ get through the paperwork stack on the table
~ gather the paperwork that needs to go in to the financial aid office
    ~ cook dinner
    ~ do a freezer/pantry quick inventory

Sounds like everyone needs to rest and rejuvenate. I know. I'm a good one to talk. Not doing much today except trying to haul a little more wood up to the patio. We had to move it away last year due to termites. DH is going to split some into smaller pieces and then cover from the rain we are suppose to get tomorrow. DH and I are taking my BIL to the casino tonight so I can spend the casino's $25 and see if I can bring home a little cash plus just a free night out. Don't take any of my own money since I don't have any money to take. lol Heard last night on the news that grocery and gas prices are going to jump Jan. 1 due to prices for having scales certified are going up significantly. Doesn't seem fair that the consumer should have to pay for that, but it is happening, so stock up while you can. Kroger has a free can of cat food download today, so if you do that, take advantage and get the food to donate, use, or give to a friend.

Just battling w/ myself to get moving today. Cancelled the Dr. Need to get the area prepped for the tree. DD need a ride to work. Dishes are overflowing. Someone come kick my .... Need to buy groc. and wash my hair.
It would be better if we just got a little snow. We are at about 50 in the day and 30's at night. Thats unseasonably warm here. I never remember a snowless day in Dec. when I was a kid. I remember pulling 4' icecles off the side of the roof and a foot of snow. ok off I go. No more moping.

My dishwasher is hooked up and on it's second load!

Got a load in the wash and once that moves over doing a sanitary load of all our bed sheets.

Sitter thinks rotavirus is going through her house- which is NOT what we had. Hope the baby doesn't get that if it's true.

Gonna get soup in the crockpot for hubby and I work tonight.

I have to do a survey for school then I'm bringing my transfusion medicine things to try and study while working. Yay!

Gbug, wjcalderon, and Nomad---it'll be in the 70s for the next several days here, 77 on Sunday, then storms on Monday. I'm ready for cold weather too. We need it to kill the bugs so they don't show back up next summer.

fw, when will you know about DH's new job possibility? And I wouldn't want my son or anyone else to drive 19 hours straight. Can you talk to him? Or would it be like, "Oh, Mom, I'll be fine, I know what I'm doing, you worry too much"?

Gbug, hope you find out soon about the disability. Thanks for the info about the price increases. Just when you think things may settle down....SIGH

Nomad, how scary to need such surgery on your DH's hand! Prayers that it works well.

Raiquee, sure hope you and the germ monkeys are now better!

Ayanka, I don't understand defragging but I know it's important. DS usually handles that on my laptop every now and then. It does indeed seem to help. Good luck with the earthy brown stuff removal.

SD, I guess now you need to go through that closet. Great that the ribbing got found with a minimum of frustration.

RABBIT, did you watch the Dolly Parton movie? I think she's a gifted songwriter and I love her version of some songs, but she's not my absolute favorite.

pinetree, I never heard of dehydrated celery juice. Where would it be found? Sounds interesting. You know so much more than I do about cooking and "putting food by." I do basic freezing of items and basic, but tasty, cooking.

    Everyone I forgot, hi!

I got everything done yesterday! Wow!

    For Friday:

    1) Change litter boxes/clean around them
    2) Get ground beef packaged for freezer
    3) Several loads of laundry
    4) Address more Christmas cards
    5) Maybe go our church's Christmas musical presentation this evening (it's 5 times this weekend so we have options)

    Have a fabulous Friday!

ILC: I have it as a monthly setting, so it does it every month. It is just because I removed so much data that I needed to do it now. Maybe your son could put it in as a setting too?

    Hope everyone is feeling better!

Rai, sounds like you are really enjoying your new dishwasher! That should kill some bugs in your house too. You sound SO busy!

Gbug, Good Luck at the casino, hope you wins lots of money! Enjoy your warm weather, I hear your suppose to get another mess like the last one.
Thanks for the heads up on the groceries!

Ayanka, thanks for the reminder on the computer, I havent done that for awhile. Good Luck removing your brown stuff.

Nomad, sure hope that surgery works on your DH, its amazing what they can do nowdays!

RABBIT, you are dsoing so well staying ahead, feels good doesn't it? How you doing? I watched the movie last night, I thought it was pretty good.

FW, take it easy today, you are stressing out, I wish things would calm down a bit for you! Whats the saying don't worry about things you can't change, I am really a good one to talk, I worry about everything!! hugs

    Niko, sending up prayers, hugs

SD, yep I had no idea celery had so much salt in it. An orange has 2 mg, 1 celery stalk has 35mg. DS is looking into it for me. Hope you are attacking your house today, NO, I hope he comes and picks up the pool table today!! Glad your DH found your ribbing, I sure wish we lived closer so I could learn all this stuff from you!

ILC, I dont know where you can get this celery juice, I know I can make it, you cut up celery, use a food processer or blender and make it into a liquid, then run thru a cheesecloth, and dehydrate it. The butcher gave us enough to do the pork we bought. Man this is all new to me, I am just giving thanks they are helping us with meats. Wtg getting your list done!
LOL, I AM not a tasty cook!! I cook, nothing to brag about, I would LOve to be able to throw stuff together and have it come out tasty!!!

Hi to everyone I didn't get.

It finally warmed up, now suppose to get snow tonight tomorow, then again next tues, ugh. Sure wish I could move somewhere warm, but not Hot, can't stand when its above 80*, Laguena Hills, here I come! not.....Guess I will keep dreaming...I have windows open to get fresh air in and bugs out...

Still moving like a snail, my back just isn't working with me. so will just take it easy and start all over again, later.. I need to work on the cookies, I'm getting behind, It took me all thus time to get ahead, I don't to lose it.

    Have a wonderful day!
