We can't believe it was $100 either! It's a huge score! It was like that all summer long last year, really great, expensive stuff dirt cheap everywhere we went to sales. But the people really wanted it gone because they wanted to do something else with that space, and they priced it accordingly. It's not in perfect condition either, and we expect to have to start replacing some roof panels, maybe next year. But we knew that when we bought it and it's still a steal because overall it's in good condition. If we decide we don't want it, we should be able to sell it for what we paid.

I was just out in the camper napping. I don't know why I sleep better in there than anywhere else. Still thinking about a mod I want to do to a cabinet. Not this month though.

Hello all - wow this board is in whirlwind mode lately.

rabbit - just recently they have 3 new white tigers. they will be out in may i think so we cant wait to go and see them. i like the penguins too.

ILC - i put salmon on my grocery list and stopped by my moms today to visit alittle and she had just taken some salmon patties out of the oven. they are everywhere. haha
I will look up CareCredit and see if its something in our area. I think i am going to need "real" glasses this year. I keep hanging on with the cheaters but not much longer.

SD - drunk driver..............no excuse is right. hope they throw the book at he/she.
we read about wrong way drivers way too often in our state. WOW on the greenhouse. It is really looking good. Hard to believe just 100.00 too. Cant wait to see pics of it filled with plants.

Bernice - good thoughts that you get stuff figured out so you can relax alittle.

pinetree - Glad all ok with your family. Hug them tight. Everyday really is a gift.

fw- travel is alway such an adventure. Hope rest of his trip is uneventful but
    interesting.

hikr00 - we have 3 large zoos in our state the one near us is a smaller one. its pretty close to our house. we try to go once a week, weather permitting and always pack a lunch. with the membership and picnic, its a fun free day.

I love Call the Midwife. it is a PBS show. I have been watching Grantchester and Selfridges too. they are all on sunday night.

Well here it is May already. will work hard to keep expenses down and see what I can cut out of the budget. everyone have a great week

EB, the drunk driver died shortly after the crash.

I'm surprised anyone believes anything about the deals we got last summer, but I swear it's all true. We can hardly believe it ourselves, and we were there! We're in the delightful position of not needing many things, so we can cherry-pick what we buy and wait until the right deal comes along. Besides, who talks about it when they've overpaid for something?

Husby was talking about buying the greenhouse earlier today and said he knew I had wanted one for years, and that's why he agreed to buy it and do all the work to move it and rebuild it. Is he great or what? I hope he gets more interested in gardening, too.

    So Dh's trip thus far
He left at 11:30 and drove to Detroit. He couldnt get off the shuttle bus but some random man helped him (I had told him that would be an issue w/ that huge step),he gets in only to find a delay from 3:00 to about 3:30 so he called ahead for an electric cart. He only had 10 min. left between. Well luckily they ran late too. He ate a burger at Ruby Tues-$22.00! He got the layover and hit the next plane landing S.Carolina from North Carolina. He gets off an his scooter cart and luggage are in ATLANTA! So he's on the cane thru the airport and goes to American Airlines and they are closed so they have to call someone to open it and trace his luggage (now that scooter was $200. and he used it 2x). I love this logic. It wouldnt fit on the smaller plane so they put it on the flight to Atlanta???
So he got to his Hotel room and has to get food. So far he has charged $1400. and still has to eat for 5 days. Honestly. They better do something extra for him at the Airlines and reimburse him quickly from the company because this is not a good start.

Meanwhile here I could not get Hunter or Yogi in and I fear 3/3 on the bunnies. Dang dumb rabbit. It was dark so IDK for sure. Makes me feel bad but I have no control.
Long day. I think the DW rack broke too.sigh. Yesterday we as in he fixed the Reverse osmosis water tank hose. Seems all the tubing he replaced was old from the store and now that ACE Hardware closed. At least its reletively cheap.
    Time for bed for sure.

fw - my that is not the way a trip should go. i hope the airlines make it right and the company reimburses fast. he will be very glad to get home. sounds like you will be glad to get him home. nothing you can do about the bunnies. hope this was the worse of your week and it gets better.

good morning to everyone and have a good day

FW2--Hope things get better for you. My SIL and family just got back from Vegas and the airline lost her wheelchair as they found out when they landed. They gave her one to use while she was there and are suppose to buy her a new one.

Still working on the laundry that I didn't finish yesterday. Bought a plastic rug for outdoors that doesn't look plastic at all for $5 at Five Below. I went back and bought another one for my neighbor. Put up two quarts of turnip greens and a quart of kale in the freezer yesterday. My SIL and BIL came by to get some Kale and I ended up going for a quick trip to the casino while DH slept. We had fun.

I was going to work in my flowerbed today, but it has been raining, so I'll put it off until the next good day. I have a little ironing to do and I need to go to the post office and mail a pkg. I also need to get chicken feed and some other things to put in DMom's Mother's Day pkg. The chicken feed is not for DMom. lol Probably will clip coupons today, too.

I give up catching up on everything in this thread…

To all of you with problems, I hope it gets better.

Pinetree, I think you can use a muffin tin. I’ve baked it about five times after a friend recommended it some years ago. It’s easy, delicious, and I like it can be prepared in advance. I’m known for loving desserts. Not long ago I ate two creme brulees at the same dinner, but can only eat one of the small chocolate cakes.

Spring has arrived in Denmark. We finally have temperatures between 50 and 60 F.

    Today:

    - Buy earphones. A shop is closing and sells everything at -50 %. Done.
    - Send letter. Done.
    - Donate clothes to Red Cross. Done.
    - Grocery shopping. Done.
    - Laundry. Two loads done.
    - Run dishwasher.
    - Meal plan. Halfway done.
    - Study. Will do so when I finish lunch.

Rainy here again as well following some kind of huge storm last night.

DH pounded on them good making complaints w/ several places. His stuff arrived at midnight. He is off to breakfast this morning and the office across the street. Her's hoping for a better day. I told him he should get some kinda perk. Apparently not an apology even so far.

GB-DD loves that store. I went once and can tell I need to stay out if we want to retire at some point.

Need to run DD to work and get presc. for myself. BBL if poss. Hugs all.

Morning! Kiddos are coming this afternoon This morning I need to make a trip to the grocery store for milk, molasses and bread. I had planned on baking beans later this week and we are out of molasses. DH finished up the milk and bread this morning so we are batting a thousand here this morning. LOL. I need to sweep and do kitty box also. I stayed up way too late last night reading. I was about 2/3 of the way through this book and I just couldn't stop reading. I finished the book and saw it was 12:30. No wonder I was so tired!

GB porch sitting sounds fabulous. Did you take a book with you? I could sit on a porch and watch the clouds for hours. So glad you had a nice sunny day to do that.

StartingOver I don't like that you're getting a ton of rain but I like that your grass is nice and green. This is our week for rain. Supposed to be either cloudy or rainy all week. How did your DH do at the grocery store? Did he stay under budget? Or indulge in a few too many treats? Mine tends to land at the bakery section and next thing I know he's got a few muffins tucked in there which I find as I'm checking out. <sigh> Their muffins are good but HUGE so each muffin is really three servings according to the nutritional info but DH says "nope, it's one muffin so it's one serving". So sorry about the dental issues

FW I love maple sausage!! DH finds that sausage gives him heartburn so I rarely make it but I do love it. I love the idea of dumping 20 things from the MIL apartment. Did you get all the canned goods sorted and dumped? I hate it when I miss a couple and find them when they are so out of date. I am always hesitant to use them...I did try once with a can of sweetened condensed milk because I needed it for a recipe I was working on. I opened it up and it was brown. No thanks, off it went to the trash. I'm really squeamish since then and have been making a good effort to keep things rotated more. This house is easier as the pantry is open front and back so I can see all the items and they can't get pushed to the back where I can't see them. What a mess for your DH at the airports and that's crazy the amount of money that he's had to spend already. And you're just barely starting the week. I hope the airline can make it right.

Pinetree somehow I missed the part about your kids accident. I am so sorry! Thank goodness they are OK. What a horrible thing to have happened. More snow??? Nooooo!! Donuts for breakfast sound awesome. Yum.

ILC I do love the little rolling cart. It's so cute and so much nicer to my knees. The last time I kneeled down was in December when we moved to put in a bottom drawer when I got back up my knee was aching for days afterwards and it snapped when I walked and you could feel things "shift" if that makes sense. It was not a comfortable feeling. The doctor has said at some point I'll need a knee replacement but I don't want to do that until I have no other option so I'm trying to be very kind to my knee and this little cart will help a lot.

Bernice the paperwork associated with disability is monumental. I hear that. Every single detail must be documented which makes sense but some of the stuff in DHs case I had to go back through old paperwork to find dates etc. It was such a headache. I was relieved we'd kept good records over the years. I'd even saved the business cards of the doctors that had treated DH when his medical issues really got started back in 2008. DH was amazed (truthfully so was I! I just knew I'd need them someday).

Niko your comment about sectioning ground beef for the freezer reminded me I hadn't yet sectioned and froze the meat I bought on Saturday so I hustled out there and did that this morning. So it's all set now Thank you!

SD the greenhouse looks great! That is so funny about spraying that piece with cooking spray and having it slide on after four years of struggling. Don't you love when a solution eludes you for ages but turns out to be so, so simple?? I suspect DH had an ulterior motive with my little cart because he is always trimming branches on trees and his method is to cut some branches then take each branch and methodically cut off each twig or smaller branch off the large one and make piles of various sizes. He sits on an upended 5 gallon bucket to do this and he's mentioned it bothers his back and it's just not comfortable to sit on that thing. So...I can totally see him plopping down on my cart and swiveling the seat around to deposit branches into appropriate sized piles. LOL! That's OK, I can share That is so tragic about DH's coworker dying at the hands of a drunk driver. You're right, there is no excuse for driving after drinking.

Rabbit definitely try to make it to Acadia. Glad it's on your bucket list. It really is such a peaceful, beautiful place. We love it there. How's my man Cadbury doing?

EB we love to do the same thing as you...go to the wildlife park and pack a lunch to eat there. They've got grills and picnic tables out etc so we do that often too. I keep track of how many times we go to make sure we get our money's worth on the pass. Typically we've already gotten our money back by June because we go so often. LOL!! I should clarify that the park opens in mid April so basically we get our money back by the two month mark.

    Tine yay for spring arriving!

    To anyone I missed hello!

hikr00 - we pay 65.00 for 2 person pass for 1 year. free parking included too.
i think if we paid it would be about 20.00 each trip with parking so we definitely make out.
plus you get discounts on anything you buy from the shops. i got husband a hat the first year. we got at least once a week. its open year round too.

GBug - I also love 5Below. Always something to buy there. I need to stay away in May.

fw- glad the missing stuff arrived. yes there should be some kind of compensation for being put out like that. my mom is good for having expired food in the cupboard. she is like you, working on getting it out. she lives in town so will just buy what she needs for a couple days and not stock up. going to store every couple days gives her an activity also.
good luck on your toss. 20 cans is alot of weight too.

well i am off on another hospital journey this afternoon. at least the rain has stopped.
    i wish everyone good health.

StartingOver, I'm so sorry you've got to have a crown. Your mention of Milk Duds reminded me that I always used to get them at the movies, back when it didn't require a bank loan to afford a movie ticket.
Is this your first time watching Downton Abbey? I got hooked on it during the second season and finally got DH hooked too---we referred to it as The Lady Mary Show. Our Sunday evenings revolved around the Crawleys. Now I watch Call the Midwife on Sunday nights, and Sherlock whenever it's on, which is seldom. [QUOTE=ilovechocolate;4112334306]

    ^^^^^^^ Don't know why I can't "REPLY WITH A QUOTE.....

Anyway.....ILC - Yes this is the first I've watched Downton Abbey. I'm on Season 3 already! I binge watched a whole season yesterday! I watched Call the Midwife on Netflix a few months ago. I really liked that one as well. I'm a Netflix Addict, I really got to stop watching so much!

I had a gift card for the movie theater that I used. Otherwise, it's pretty rare that I'll go and pay for a movie. I usually get a few Gift Cards a year from different people. I usually get my Milk Duds from the Dollar Tree.....I know that's sooooo wrong, but I have a hard time paying $4 for a box when I can get it for $1.

I inherited my son's new cat. I'm not happy about it. Last week he got a 2nd cat because the guy was moving and the place didn't allow pets, so he was going to take it to the Humane Society. Well, my big hearted son couldn't bear to see a pet go there, so he took it home with him, and now one of his roommates is threatening to move out. So he called begging me to take it until his situation changes. Then my DD starting crying, as she wanted to take the cat and begged me to take it to the Humane Society. So long story short....we have another cat! He's 2 1/2 yrs old, has all his shots and is super friendly and loveable. I just didn't want another pet. And cats live such a long time.

SO, what season of Downton Abbey are you watching? A couple of seasons, 4 and 5, I think, weren't as good as the first several, but they were still very watchable.

fw, yes, DH came home and dealt with the dead bunny! I don't think he would have if all the neighborhood kids hadn't been upset about it. If it had been just me upset, he would have waited till work was over. LOL
All the money that airlines charge and then they lose luggage! My best friend and her family just returned from vacation in Australia and her luggage was lost for a day. Ours was lost on a New Orleans trip years ago but was returned to our hotel at 3:30 a.m.
Hope your DH's new company reimburses him quickly. Where in NC is he? It's a beautiful state.
You can't help what the dogs did to the bunnies, but I know it still angers/upsets you.

SD, you do have a good DH.
Here we have a judge who has been caught drinking/driving twice; once a cop gave him a ride home, the other time he was allowed to go on his way. Disgraceful. Recently in Atlanta a young man high on heroin hit 3 little boys on bikes; one little guy died. The young man had a terrible driving record already. On any Friday or Saturday night the vast majority of local arrests are for DUI. I've even seen some DUI arrests during the daytime, like at 10 a.m. I can't wrap my mind around that.

RABBIT, Call the Midwife is a British drama on PBS on Sunday nights. It revolves around a group of nurse/nuns and non-nun midwives who work in the East End of London starting in the post-war years of the 50s. Not it's the 4th season, I think, and the time frame is the early 60s. It's not just about delivering babies, even though there's a lot of that, but other health needs and issues faced by residents of the area, and also the personal lives of the young midwives. The whole thing is based on a series of 3 memoirs by Jennifer Worth's time as a midwife there. It's quite good.
I hear you about your Sunday School kids! It's because it's spring, and summer is coming, and school will be out soon. If it was full moon it would be worse. When I was teaching we never had to check when full moon was---we could tell by the kids' behavior. And sometimes by the parents' behavior too.

Niko, don't overdo on your long list of To Dos. You're making good progress, don't forget to rest too.

earlybird, CareCredit is like a charge account. Go to the website and you can put in your zip code and doctor's specialty and find if he/she accepts it. A good number around here do.
I watched one episode of Mr. Selfridge but that's all. It just didn't appeal to me, even though the costumes were fabulous. Haven't watched Grantchester but I've seen it advertised.

Gbug, you've got a busy day ahead of you. Don't overdo. I guess Five Below is a discount/close-out store like Big Lots or Ollie's? It sounds wonderful.

Tine, catching up IS hard to do here, isn't it? Hope you had fun with your guests.

hikr, that must have been a really good book. I've frequently stayed up too late reading, unfortunately I usually had school or work the next day.
    Have fun with the grandchildren!
I, too, have a noisy knee! I can make it pop and click pretty loudly LOL

pinetree, did the kids get checked out after their accident? They may need to now, there's no sense in risking having an injury that isn't treated.
Are you planning a snuggly day at home? I know it's still snowing there. So sorry, I know you're sick of it.

Bernice, TDN, and anyone else I missed, hi!

Well, the upstairs AC unit isn't working right. I had set it on 76 to cool it down before bedtime and it ran and ran all night and this morning it hadn't gone below 79, so we have a call in to have it checked. It may just be a capacitor, which I learned about once when DH was out of town and the same thing happened, and I'm hoping that's what it is. An easy fix. It worked fine Saturday night so I don't think it's freon---when that goes low, the unit gradually quits cooling, not all at once. DH is painting our new front door the gorgeous shade of red we had on the other one, and I've been baking for us and also for my Bible study tonight. Plus when I first came downstairs this morning there were tufts of cat hair all over the floor. I mean all over the kitchen and breakfast room. The whole floor. So vacuuming got done early.

    For Monday:

    1) Baking, vacuuming, and calling AC repair guy----- DONE
    2) Review Bible study homework prior to class
    3) Revise weekly menus (didn't get done yesterday)
    4) Wait for AC guy
    5) Clean out fridge
    6) Look at week's appointments/activities with DH
