StartingOver, you're a good person to take in the cat. It sounds very lovable. I don't think you'll regret it.

I was inspired this morning so I split the tall shelves in the greenhouse into two parts so they're half as tall. I put one in each back corner and laid a metal rack across the gap. Now I have one high-priority thing I wanted for the greenhouse, a wall to wall bench across the whole back wall. Total cost, three hours of my time. I was expecting to have to buy some materials and then build something from scratch, so I'm happy about this, even though I had to take out almost all the bolts in both shelves and move everything around. It'll be a good change that gives me more space for plants without losing any of the storage the shelves provided.

What a gorgeous day here! It's why we live on the lake and why we live up north.

My aunt and my cousin's GF (whom we met once for 20 mins) are coming tomorrow to -de-hoard my terminally ill mom's room. My aunt is so frustrated that she comes and works on it, only for my mom to mess it up again. She does NOT get the issues hoarders have. She wants my mom to die in a "peaceful room". Her room actually is not that bad, not Hoarders level, but the basement is. Luckily, she can't get down there. I am ambivalent about this project but my mom said yes. I think my aunt bringing a stranger borders on the cruel because my mom is hugely embarrassed by her room.

So today I tidied the house for them coming. I wanted to tackle laundry but didn't get around to it yet. Don't know if I will. I cleared out one messy corner in my room. And set up this clock that does everything (I can answer my cell phone through it) that I got on super duper clearance. My old one stopped telling time correctly, yet it took me months to set up the new one, so good job finally done.

earlybird, I love penguins, too. At the Boston aquarium, I sit and watch them for a good hour. I wish we had a zoo near here.

LTD called me and I am up for review for the money they are not paying me anyways, you have to laugh. So I have to gather all the MD notes myself since a certain date or trust them to do it. I made an appt with my primary because she is excellent at summarizing each diagnosis from each specialist and how it affects my ability to currently work. Hopefully they will wait til I see her May 19th. I don't work but I have a FT job trying to keep up with all of this. Oh well, it will be what it will be and I've already kind of resolved in my head that LTD is never going to pay me and have revised my finances to reflect that. That way I won't be too upset when/if it officially happens.

Gosh, just read 2 1/2 pages and forgot to take notes so I can't remember much! Talked to my sister today and my head is spinning from family drama, nothing to do with either of us though.

SD, the real tragedy resulting from the drunk driver, other than killing an innocent person and affecting countless lives, is that the drunk driver will never know or have to live with the fact of what they did. So sad.......

fw, good grief, not a good day yesterday for your Dh or you. Hopefully the airline will make some kind of compensation for all his trouble. Hopefully his day went better today. My dogs too eat baby and adult rabbits and anything else that comes in the yard. I won't get into any stories but it sickens me. I do realize that they are just being dogs though. I think I've mentioned before that I have dubbed my yard, "the killing fields".

Got my dailies done, grocery shopped and made a pasta salad. I'm ready to sit down now and read for a bit.
I'm too busy working on my own grass to notice if yours is greener.

Bernice - that aunt is a real pip. i can't believe she is bringing someone not really close to the family. that kind of declutter is such a personal issue. I hope your mom can cope with it.

fw - maybe airline will treat him to first class on the way home.

so - superfriendly and loveable sound like a good addition to the family.
I am a netflix junkie too. anything british and i think i have seen most of
    them.

sd - great idea to split the shelves. wall to wall bench will come in handy
when you are getting the plants started. will greenhouse have electric....plants
    like music.

It'll probably be the end of the month before we have any plants. We didn't intend to have the greenhouse done this soon and have other priorities right now.

The greenhouse won't have power right now, but I've been thinking about it. It would be nice to be able to plug in some warming lights when it's cold at night.

Sd-just teasing. Our zones we have to wait for memorial day but I wonder it the greenhouse will make you able to start a few weeks early??

Everything seems more settled w/ Dh except that he is exhausted. I am sorta mad at him because he just got off thinners and Antibiotics on a PICC line then off the crtches and goes off. Then of course now that the bsmt is flooded a little bit about that too. Dh is in S.Carolina for whoever asked.

So the bsmt mess receeded (fingers crossed). I need to run the shower and see what happens later
The van doesnt smell of gas??
Ds texted me back and forth for awhile. He sent me a funny video. It was good. I guess he going to be all over incl. Germany this year. But sniper school this summer first.

DD and I went at it over a few lasting prob. but reconciled by evening. Mothers and DD's! kwim.

Called DH and he sounded chipper. He not in pain now for the 1st time in literally years. I guess he's worked w/ 1 of the guys they brought in and his good rep. proceeds him. That makes me feel a bit better. I guess he is using the cart and the cane.

    To do
sleep for a bit as I didnt sleep that well yesterday.
play it by ear cleaning-no goals at the moment. Taking it easy on the water system this week.

SO-WTG on the new cat. Thats how we got Sharon years ago. We resqued her and then DH's brother wanted her,he passed so Dh's mom took the cat but then she got remarried then his sister had it and we finally took her in even though we had 5 cats. She lived happily w/ us for years.

FW2--Sounds like things are good for you. I certainly know about moms and daughters. Mine can be headstrong, but then I realize I made her that way. lol

Not feeling up to par today. My left eye is not working well, and my head hurts. I'll just let it hurt because I'm NOT going back on the nerve meds. Not planning on doing much today. If I feel like it this afternoon and it is warm enough, I may work in my flower beds. I think this is going to be a porch sitting day. It was cold yesterday, so I made potato parsnip soup. It is so delicious! My internet went down yesterday and a repairman is coming today even though it was an outage in my neighborhood. Not sure if I'm going to like Frontier. They bought out Verizon.

Yes, definitely the greenhouse will allow us to start a few weeks early, most years anyway. It'll also extend the season in the fall because we'll be able to move tomatoes and peppers and other potted plants into the greenhouse when it starts to get colder. Our season is really short here, only about three months, so this should help a lot once we figure out the best way to use it. I need to read up on greenhouse gardening.

I got up before the rain comes and moved all the stuff out of the cabin entry that's been bugging me since we bought the greenhouse. There was nowhere else to go with it, and the cabin entry has been the designated 'potting shed' for years now, and in fact I bought a huge entertainment center last June to store and organize all that stuff. But the truckload of little stuff that came with the greenhouse overwhelmed it. Now everything is in the greenhouse except some things that can't get wet like the half bale of peat moss and the big bucket of potting soil. I'm going to use a couple trash cans for that stuff but have to decide which ones to use. I have several to choose from in the garage but they have stuff in them and until we get the garage mess dealt with, I won't know for sure what's available. At any rate, the shelves I modified yesterday are pretty full. I still love that arrangement and I'm so glad I thought of it before we were all moved in. I think there might be some more stuff in the garage that goes in there, and I have to locate the garden trowels and that kind of stuff and get that all organized out there, too. Lots of work yet to do on the greenhouse/garden area but at least we're off to a good start.

I was just over looking at the Cook Lions page and trying to figure out when the Million Dollar Sale is this year. It looks like maybe it's the third weekend in June. I'm hoping for some sturdy legs to make cheap benches for the greenhouse this year. And I'm also hoping we'll be able to continue resisting the temptation to buy a boat there.

To-do's today include generally decluttering this place. I've dragged out potential projects that haven't been put away and I need to rectify that. I want to get the living room cleaned up and clear off at least part of the table in the family room where I've been sorting stuff for the camper.

I'm so tired today, but I have still washed two loads of laundry and run the dishwasher twice. I'm relaxing with a Swedish Eurovision Song Contest prelude TV program now. I love Eurovision.

We have a lot of plans for the weekends in May and June. Friends over for Eurovision final, a night out with friends, my granddad's birthday, a 18 year old birthday and a wedding. It'll be fun, but I just hope my stupid head can handle it all.

did the de-hoarding of my mom's room. My aunt and my cousin's GF worked well with my mom, I have to say. The goal was to get rid of massive amts of papers dating back to the 90s and have clear surfaces on her desk, dresser and bookshelf. And that was accomplished! Only one box of really old papers that she refused to get rid of went into the basement hoard. The rest is in the recycling can, hallelujah!

she did not let me do the closet but that's ok, it can be done at a later time, we couldn't push her too hard. Now she doesn't have to be embarrassed to have friends visit her. I'm really proud of her.

Bernice, that is wonderful about your mom's room, even though you were apprehensive about your aunt. For whatever reason, your mom did it! That's got to be one worry gone for you.

fw, great that you heard from your DS! And great that your DH sounds as though he's doing well. As to your DD, well, you're the mom and she's the daughter, and there you go...sometimes I am SO grateful that I have only one daughter and not any more.

Gbug, so sorry about your eye and your headache. Maybe call the doctor? I understand about not wanting to go back on the meds, though. Maybe garden-working will help you feel better.

    Tine, your summer sounds fun!

SD, RABBIT, earlybird, and everyone else, hi!

pinetree, you've got sunshine! And warmer temps! It's about time. Our temps are lower for the next few days but by Sunday and into next week it will be around 90. Yuck.
    Your bunny is back! Yea!

    For Tuesday:

    1) Kroger, Tractor Supply, Aldi DONE
    2) Put away groceries
    3) Reset downstairs
    4) Send out reminder emails to retired teacher group
    5) Change litter boxes
