Good morning. It is cold, but sunny. Working at the soup kitchen, taking glass to recycle, and then getting a haircut. That's it for me. I will probably porch sit and read this afternoon if the temps warm up.
We got a couple inches. Not a fan but the dogs were happily suprised.
Getting a slow start but more laundry,a long shower, dishes, vaccumn
Need to call the vet for dog appt. running behind after being so sick
Weight holding steady w/in a few oz. need to bust this w/ more moving.
I should give in and just get a chop shop haircut I guess? Sigh.
DH and I spent time at the annual Old Book Sale yesterday and got 12 books for $16. Didn't find the Churchill book I wanted but did get a hardbound copy of East of Eden, 3 paperbacks by the Shaaras (historical fiction---Civil War, 1776 by David McCullough, and DH got some DIY books. Sunday everything is 1/2 price so we're going back. Plus my best friend and her son were there so we shopped together.
1) Vacuum downstairs DONE
2) Tractor Supply for litter, Sam's for hot dog lunch, Aldi, then pick up Zaycon chicken
3) Package chicken for freezer
4) Work on menus
Have a good Friday!
Good morning. Nice to see so many posts today. Sunny but freezing here.
Yesterday was a very low energy day. I got an asparagus and tomato salad made and we had that with leftovers for dinner. Went to bed early.
Fixed a tear in my jeans but I see a new one has opened up right next to it, so these are probably not going to last much longer.
Today I still have bills to pay, need to see what vegs are left in the fridge, make a shopping list for DH, and try to tidy up around here a bit. Been seeing the ads for fun, colorful new spring stuff in the stores and I want to go OUT!
Appt with the surgeon next week. Will see what he says about the foot.
FW, hope you get your energy back soon. That bout of flu I had last fall just sucked the life out of me for weeks afterward. Just sucked in general.
CH-I just dont know. IDK if its the heart slowing meds, poorer previous nutrution ,the flu or what but enough already. I keep upping my game and clearly its not enough. MOre water, better nutirtion, lost 8#,upped the LT insulin, working on the less erratic sleep schedule.More activity would be better but its difficult when my feet get so tender and I feel like I'm going to faint on and off. I was even wondering if that fall at Christmas goofed me up chiro wise. I have a gym memebership and I'm raring to use it but ATM I dont want to have SH out of town. IDK. But in any case thanks.
I had to laugh about the jeans. I have to order those for DH next. He has this terrible bleached out spots, faded jeans. Those are fine. He tore a hole in teh pocket of new replacements. I bought an iron on patch so he can use them as work jeans but now he needs going out jeans.
Didnt do much today. DDis coming at 6 to grab and dash her computer. Losing my temper about her room again because she is stalling me. I find it insulting and will have to give her less food until cleans her room. Such a dumb game. I just want my house back.
CH I hope you get a good Dr. report. FW I hope your energy holds up, you sound busy.
Saturday: dog to vet, bake things & freeze using pumpkin, paid work at home.
I started listening to the new Jodi Picoult book "Small Great Things". Seems really good. I quit in the middle of the murder/thriller I was listening too. Just too stressful in addition to everything else that is going on. Need to keep stress level down!
I am having trouble staying on task...
Thursday instead of cleaning, I found a couple errands to run. Today, I managed to do dishes & clean two bathrooms, as well as go pick up my meat order & get some veggies for the relish tray. So, I did do a little, but I expected to have a lot more done ...
Tomorrow is prep day for the party Sunday. I will chop veggies for the relish tray. Cut up fruit, make cake, cupcakes & dinner rolls, deviled eggs. Also need to get tables figured out. Will have 19 for dinner, but can use 2 high chairs. Will put eight adults in dining room & will set up banquet table in sun room for kids.
Good morning. It is chilly and I think going to rain today. Watching grandsons play soccer via FaceTime since I can't be there in person. Planning on working on quilt pieces today. Making lemon bars and putting together a squash casserole for the freezer.
Good morning to you all. DH is back as of 3am ish this morning. The dogs are so happy. DD whirled in like a hurricane last night, grabbed her computer,my spinach and pea pods,a few snacks for the household, her books, and a marvel comic game I was donating hug me and was gone.?? bye? I told her her new name was hurricane of chaos and destruction. She looks good, more confident and thinner I think. Just wish she drove!
Off to see Dh and I guess Aldis to restock the fresh greens and eggs.
Still at work. Finally caught up. Might be back on when I get home. Where's Pinetree? Is she ok?
Hi Niko! Come back anytime! I've tried to check on pinetree but have heard nothing. She wasn't feeling well for a while before she went MIA from here so I'm wondering if another heart attack?? Anyway, whatever the issue is, I know she would appreciate prayers and good thoughts.
fw, our DD and the fiance were coming over last night for supper and of course we heard nothing from them. SIGH Good that you're doing better. Vertigo hit me bad last evening. I'll spare you the details but it was messy. Feeling better today but I'm still in my jammies and have finally gotten around to laundry.
CH, dlrcpa, Winkie, Gbug, ermadunk, Tine, and anyone I missed, Hi!
It's been around freezing the past couple of nights but the days have been beautiful. The next 15 days are supposed to be lows in 40s and 50s and highs in low 70s, so winter is gone. The local weather people have called it "The Winter that Wasn't." Things are growing that shouldn't be yet.
1) Unload/reload/run dishwasher DONE
2) Plan week's menus DONE
3) Do laundry IN PROGRESS
Today is National Pound Cake Day so I may make one for DH.
FW- at least you got a hug!
ILC- sorry your DD didn't show & sorry to hear you have had more vertigo. Hang in there.
I got a lot done, but when DH got home, I had a couple issues to report: Dough didn't rise for rolls. My 9 y/o GS looks forward to home made rolls... Vacuum clean croaked. I took it apart as much as I could & couldn't find the problem. We decided to go to Sam's & get a new one. DH asked if I looked for plugs, which I did, but didn't find... Took hose off, dropped a skewer through, but it didn't go through. DH suggested using the flag pole to push through the hose ( doesn't everyone use their flag pole for this task?). Anyway the flag pole treatment worked, and when I went in the kitchen, the dough had risen! I think the heating feature must have gone out on the bread machine. So back to the kitchen!
It was 21 degrees this morning, not sure how warm it got. The snow is all melted off. I have crocus in bloom.
ILC-sorry about the DD consistancy. I understand that mine is finally on her own however could ya come and clean the rest of your mess. What that you say? lol Her room is way less but still looks like the pictures you see after a tornado. Garbage and good things all mixed together.
Just kinda chilled today. Tomorrow cat box/garbage day but I hope we can at least take a little drive. Just a change of scenery in the winter does a person good. Shared a french dip w/o the au ju. Had a few apricots. Have lost about 9#. Dang is this slow. BUT better than the other direction.
Good to have DH home.
Winkie-Ha ha I have a designated wooden spoon and some old chop sticks!. Our old one has a stupid design where the cup has a structure in the middle. Now if you live in a dust only house fine. But we have cat hair and dog hair, hair ties-oops,fluff from ripped up toys and everything in between. I got this Hoover thru Target. So the new one I got so I dont have to drag a vaccumn upstairs anymore is also a Hoover but designed for pets fur-we shall see. I got it On DEAL of the DAY on Amazon thru the BARGAINSTOBOUNTY site I am a member of for $75ish. W/ teh old one I had gotten proficient at hose removal at the base as well as chop suey cleanouts! I still cant get the new belts on though.
I usually just rise my dough over night in a cold oven or in a 300 degree oven if is day. I Remember ringing hot towels when I made bread origially. And it over rising and the towel print in the dough.lol Sorry your didnt rise.
A customer scolded me in the supermarket yesterday for looking for the freshest carrots. It was so weird, and I was laughing when she left.
We're having friends over for dinner tonight.
Tine--She must have been bored. lol
DH got home in the wee hours of the morning I guess. There are dirty clothes all over my laundry room. Guess I will be doing laundry and more sewing today.
FW- I used to have a Kirby that I could take apart like a pro. I had girls with long hair so the beater bar was always full. I used to put the head of it in the vise in the garage to work on it easier. This one is a Hoover with a bag. I hate those cup things you have to empty. It is only a few years old, but probably the last one on earth that takes a bag. We don't have pets or long haired girls anymore, so I don't know why it plugged. It was just fuzz from the new carpet, but it was big & it was packed!
The dough did rise eventually, so I formed the rolls & put in fridge. I bought back up rolls at Sam's Club, but they are not as good. I should have gone to Meijers & gotten Rhodes frozen roll dough, but I was tired of running around all over. I still had to go home & frost cake & cupcakes.
Got my tables all set up this morning & vacuuming done. Taking a break before I peel potatoes. I skipped church, but DH went.
I don't buy my DH a birthday gift, he just wants a homemade dinner with the kids. It always turns into a big deal. It would be easier to buy him something or go away for the weekend, but he's a pretty good guy so I do it for him:)
FW- meant to say good deal on the upstairs vacuum. I probably should start looking for one in case this one croaks. I think I have 30 bags for it.
OH Winkie-I always hated those bags. Ya fill them too full and they are so hard to get out over the zipper or smell like dusty dog or heated stinky feet. I donated my bags long ago and never looked back. I must have have 100's at least. lol my dad figured out how to re-use the bags. Just yuck. I have to get motivated and open the new one. I want to vaccomn the bedroom wal w/ the brush and see if I absolutely have to scrub them or not. Hope the dinner goes well. I make Dh beef tips and noodles per request for his birthday and choc. cake. I agree on the rolls-Krogers taste like dried paper even w/ butter.
Need to rouse DH to do cat pans and garbage. Just want to let him sleep.
FW- I always feel like I need a shower after I shake out one of those dirt cups. I am sticking to my bags!
The dinner went well. The homemade rolls turned out fine & we have nearly 3 dozen boughten ones left. Went through 3 jars of homemade jam. We had homemade chocolate layer cake & white cup cakes from a box mix. Both with homemade frosting.
DD1's new guy brought his 10 year old daughter. She was very nice & fit in fine, especially with the two 11 y/o grand daughters. After we ate, most of the kids & the men went out side, shot a few hoops, took a hike in the back 40. Great day!
I have the second load of dishes running, have at least one more to go.
Work 8 hours
Plumber coming to fix faucet in tub so water will get hot
Finish up dishes
Tear dining table down
Put extra chairs away.
Have a great evening everyone!
Winkie-wtg on the party. Sorry I couldnt make it.lol Gald everyone got along and the rolls behaved in the end.
We went and carried out at Outback. I had a side salad and 1/2 a 1/2 order of their quesaadillas plus a jello cup,2 PB cookies (Aldis sandwich) OOF very good but too much food now. My how things have changed. Just a few months ago that would have been nothing. I hope my appetite will shrink.
Went to GW earlier and I got 3 pr of slippers for the kids DD is taking care of,also a little mermaid back pack type pouch,2 new bags of grass,a felt easter basket,a silly monster of a BB cap all for $9.75. I may get a little candy and put it in there but they are lactose intolerant so prob. like jelly beans and that. Their mom is bipolar and having trouble cooperating w/ getting her meds in and therapy. She spends very little time w/ the kids. 1 of the pair of slippers is the bunny cop from zootopia and the other pair is monster feet. They look new and were $1. for green tag day. I called DD and she said they should love them. Its funny as usual I woke up today absolutely needing to go there??
Good morning. It is warmer today, but looks like we may have a few more showers. Working at the soup kitchen and delivering food to food pantry. I have some ironing to do and need to water the plants in the house. Got to try and pick up some medical papers since I didn't get them Friday. Making cauliflower stir fry for dinner. Think I will get some doll clothes cut out to sew this week.
Morning-ahd a little spring rain and it looks like more coming. It is very warm for here this time of year but grey of course.
to wash bedding
hit Aldis and the groc. for milk, eggs and salad type stuff. I'll pull lunchmeat and bread out of the freezer for DH. Prob make spaghetti ATP and a few other easy things
hope to work more on the bedroom this week. Finally starting to dawn on me that if i clean things no one else is here to undo it most of the time. DH is supposed to find out his next trip date. He thinks 2 weeks but hey I never beleive that anymore. He has done 60% travel now for awhile.
Hope everyones well. Gotta go take a shower despite no one protests.
Last week when I didn't fell like doing anything the sun was shining today fell better and it raining rained yesterday last night suppose be storms later today and all night. We had them all around close by last Monday night I was lucky it never hit my house for I woke up twice and just went right back to sleep and last night I couldn't go to sleep thinking I need to stay awake tonight.I got to unload dw put some more dishes in was going do laundry decided I would wait until tomorrow got pick up med.one day and do some grocery shopping.Hope everyone is having a good day.
Warm and very windy today. Something big just hit the front of the house. I hope it was not a tree branch. It made everything rattle.
Foot is feeling a little better. The stabbing pain seems to be lessening and the swelling is down a little. I think it will be a long time before the swelling is completely gone. I have been hobbling around a little on the heel. It is tiring.
DH went shopping and his idea of stocking the fridge is to shove everything higgledy-piggledy onto the top two shelves and ignore the drawers, pushing the older stuff to the back. I need to go through it and organize, but there's so much right now I don't know where to start without causing an avalanche. I can't just pull it all out onto the counters, I can only carry 1 item at a time on this knee scooter.
I am going to seed some basil today. DH brought some cups out of the garage for me. I save the clear plastic cups when I get frozen coffee drinks. With the lids they are perfect for seed starting.
Got to re-work the menu plan this week, and write checks for bills.
Have a good day everyone.
CH- glad to hear your foot is progressing. I need to get seeds going too. I repurpose those clear clam shell type food containers to make mini green houses.
FW- good finds at GW. Sometimes it's just fun to get bargains, especially if you have eager recipients.
Weather warning.... those of you across the midwest and plains states need to keep an eye out today and tonight. Though the weather today seems mild, there is a lot of high wind, warm air and moisture and conditions are developing for tornadoes. Nearly the entire state of Iowa is under a watch right now, and alerts have been issued for KS, MN, and MO.
Storm Prediction Center - Current Convective Watches
Transplanted some tomato starts into bigger individual pots. I have 3 more to do but will wait and see if the first ones are OK. DH left on an overnight trip. I have paid work to do tonight. I took some surveys, half way to next $10 reward.
CH-I had gotten the scooter w/ the basket and a college size backpack for Dh because he was going thru the airport .SO if you sling an old back pack across?? DH still has "twinges" w/ his. He describes it as muscles learning how to be used diff.ly and muscles waking up. Its almost been a yr. now. Of course last week he was on the ladder which he knows he shouldnt do and is pretending the Dr. never said it. He knows he is discharged so its not like we can go and I'll call him out. So ATP I have no sympathy for pain after antics. Offended nevrves and mucles take a long time. So glad its coming along.
Winkie stupidly I cant wait to see them for lunch. These poor kiddos need more attention.
Good morning. Sunny and cool here. Got to get paperwork to docs office, need to get some oil for my car, have some phone shops to do today, and want to get some herbs planted this afternoon if it warms up.
Hey everyone. Boy did we have a powerful storm last night. And then today no damage-not a twig down. How does that happen.
Put in a stamp order this morning
need to wash bedding
hit Kroger for a few items
vacuum and do a load or 2 of dishes.
Good morning everyone. We had a wild ride last night, storms hit about 8pm, I got my PC shut down seconds before the power went out and tornado sirens went off. We got hit with 50-75mph winds, knocked a bunch of stuff around on the deck and broke some pottery, but no severe damage here. It appears that some of our neighbors have roof damage, I can see some ripped up shingles. We have a new(ish) and better quality roof so I hope ours is not also damaged. They had baseball sized hail over in KS, by the time it got here it was only pea sized.
The tornado hit 15 miles away from us. We didn't know for sure at the time, but we heard emergency vehicle sirens for well over an hour, passing through our area so I knew something had happened.
Chilly, but nice and sunny today. I have some piddly things to do, then a DR visit after lunch.
FW, I expect the foot will be sensitive and tender for a long time. I do wish it would stop keeping me awake at night with constant unrelenting stabbing sensations. Last night it was the muscle to my big toe that just kept cramping and spasming. I hope your DH doesn't hurt himself.
CH, I thought of you when the news this a.m. reported the weather in your area last night. So glad you and yours are all okay!
fw, that's sweet of you to do that for those little kids.
Everyone, hi, hope Tuesday is going well for you.
Had a good dental checkup this a.m. DH drove me since I'm still dizzy-ish from the vertigo but every day is better. After the dentist we used a coupon at Burger King and we ate for a total of $5.35. For the rest of the day I've got to vacuum, put away clean laundry, and work on Bible homework. Supper will be pancakes and bacon since it's National Pancake Day.
ILC- sorry to hear you are still dizzy, but nice you had a good check up. I am always so glad when I don't need anything more done. I have spent big $$ in the past.
CH that storm sounds frightening. We have had rain & milder storms & the creek is getting high. Stay safe! Do you have a basement?
FW- have fun with the little ones. Sounds like they need some extra attention right now. You can "practice" at being a grandma!
GB &dlrcpa, & all you other planters...I wish I was on top of getting stuff planted. Actually, I can only start stuff in the house. It will be mid May before we usually plant the garden, tho who knows this year, since it is so warm already.
I got my previous list of chores done, the plumber was here & I got tables torn down, dishes done. Almost back to normal...
Need to start seeds
Need to start thinking about cleaning closets & purging. Have a couple of boxes started- need them moved on out the door.
Everyone have a great evening!
ILC-was going to make spaghetti now maybe I'll do pancakes w/ maple or strawberries. Dh will want the sausage.
Kinda blah today. tired from the storm last night and the relentless wind today. Still not even dressed. I need to kick myself in the behind. Need to pick a project and begin.
CH-I have that from the diabetes. And muscle spasms. So if you dont take a multi vit its prob. a good idea to do it right now. Thats what DH calls twinges. He just understates things. The lightening flashes are things healing and coming back online so to speak but yes its not pleasant. He has taken heavy pain killers on and off but seriously tries to avoid it.
Winkie all my tomatoes are inside. The pepper seeds have never sprouted after 7 weeks now (planted in mid-Feb.) I need to start some other things indoors. Maybe tomorrow.
Sort of miffed the dog does not like the new $7 dog bed. Maybe a few inches too small. He is lying on the floor beside it. I guess it will be donated.
Made pumpkin muffins and HB eggs. Exercise class is tonight. Listen to audio book afterwards.Attachment 44450
The storm woke me up a little before 3:this morning and it keep me up for awhile even though I went back to sleep I have been tired all day did get few things done one load laundry got them put away doing one load now sweep floors had company for awhile youngest dd.Wed list go into one town up north pay electric bill go cash saver then go to a town south get med. living out in country cant get everything organized in one place to many little town don't have everything in them.Hope everyone has a good night.
When did you start your tomatoes? Do you have lights?
