It's nice and cool this morning and I may try to get onto the back deck without the cat. I slept well for the first time this week and feel like I might be able to do something today. Last day on the horrible pills.
Still eating from the stockpile I put up before surgery, though DH has had to buy chicken twice this month to keep up with his 'heart healthy' needs. Starting to get into the overflow cabinet of canned and boxed items in the basement. I got the grocery ads and need to do next week's planning.
Foot is looking good, I guess. I think it is healing but I really have no way to measure except by eye and memory and it is changing so slowly. I'm thinking at least 6 more weeks in bandages. :(
FW, that canned chicken has so much salt in it, I'm not sure it CAN go bad. But I know that look, I get it from the cats when I open up a can of tuna.

CH-its from 2014 and it smells fine. Hunty is on a muscle relaxant the size of a dime and 1/2 a bitter pain pill. The chicken is fooling his beagle nose or more likely his beagly food greed is taking over. He had the munchies yesterday and ate 1/2 a pasty and a can of the chicken. I was floored. He's 35#. He has simmered down today and is happier. I hope he heals up well. IK he must tease the other 2 every time hes in the front to pee. Little dogs=own worst enemy.
After i hit Aldis I hit the S. S.A. for a bit and came away w/ several very nice NWT pieces my known brands. Got a few sleeveless tops, found a pair of jeans to make cut offs, and bought a small brown purse w/ zips for $2.50. I got most of the pieces I was after these 2 weeks to replace most of DH and my wardrobe I had let go forever. I ended up buying the NO Boundries excercise pants online new in a I give up kinda move last night. I wold like a swim suit this year too and I imagine that will be full price new too. NOt an easy fit to find. Prob still hit Meijers for tennis shoes and scope out more tanks then.BUT sitting well.
Watched SPLIT last night. Was predictable and no so scary. ?? maybe it was me.
I liked it ok but it didnt impress me the way John Goodman did in ??CLoverfield 2 . That I thought about days after.

Went to the feed store for chicken crumble. Picked up my props from theatre and went to the costumer to see what I might be able to use. Put up 3 gallons of corn on cob from Sprouts. They are 6 for $1 fresh this week. Put up 3 quarts of spinach and don't even know how many more that I will get. Will do that tomorrow. Noticed that my kale is ready to be cut again. Guess I will do that tomorrow, too.

Such a rainstorm. It was really beating down so pretty confident we'll have some water in tomorrow. DH is back so=his turn.
I did 2 loads of wash so that all the new clothes are done or drying.
Dh has offered to do the computer but i am considering letting it go until the weekend. He had a very rough trip.
Edunk-state the kind of pie for us dieting please.lol
I need a video of DD's cat Charlie. I have taken an old UTZ pretzel jar and filled it w/ hard candy. He has taken to balancing on the top so I can pet him at my desk. He is a huge jet black cat and how his feet can hold all of him on the tiny lid boggles my mind but he does it now almost every day. Just proves how strong and healthy he is. OH guess I should say its on the floor by my desk.lol
GB-your gardens on fire this year!

Everything has turned green so quickly. I spent 2 hours on yard Thurs. evening. Today lunch w/ prospective employer and pick up free dog food at Petco (will be donated to the pet food pantry). I need to BUY my dog's food soon. Maybe watch the Netflix DVD tonight - "Inferno" w/ Tom Hanks. Chef salad for supper if I can talk hubby into that.

Good morning. Don't forget to download your free Annie's mac and cheese from Kroger. Doing a second cutting of kale this morning and then to the soup kitchen to work. Got to stop by a store to get a price on making embroidered table runners for the soup kitchen's fundraising group, and then on home to put up the rest of the spinach. Kale will wait until tomorrow. We're suppose to have storms tonight and a cold front. Bring it on! We have been in the 80s for days.

I tried to catch up with all the posts.
ILC you will love being a grandma. It is much more fun than being a mom.
CH glad to hear your foot is still progressing.
Erma- you are hopping- makes me realize my car needs cleaned up.
GB, you have been busy, busy. Gardening, preserving, directing, staging, etc. plus your work @ the food pantry. Hope you get the results of your MRI soon.
Dlrcpa-yeah! Tax season is over! good luck on the job search
FW- shopping again! You should be a personal shopper. Sounds like your DD has grown up! Glad you two are enjoying each other's company!
All of you with gardening news makes me feel behind. Haven't tilled my garden yet, but do have plants started inside.
I have been keeping busy. Pulled things together for a nice Easter dinner. Had one of my DD & DH's DD over which sounds simple, but it wasn't. One was late, the other had to leave early, which I hadn't been informed of... Made the best of it. Flew kites in the afternoon.
I got Easter decor put away, got stains out of the tablecloth, hand delivered my Macy's & Penney payments. Got free lotion at Bath & Body. Finally got my plane reservations for Houston for Memorial Day weekend. That was complicated. Had to transfer points from DH to me, then buy more points, but still cheaper than paying for a ticket. Two round trip tickets, totL $232.00. I've done better in the past, but oh well.
Still haven't got insurance check- keep making calls. Found out I have another $22,000. In an annuity from an old job. I think I rolled over , but they say I still have the money, so I will take it. I might as well roll it into my main fund. No use having money scattered all over.
Yesterday afternoon, combined my trip to pick up the newer sewing machine, with visit to DD2. She & hubby went out with friends & I babysat the four kids. So much fun!
Today I have worked on unpacking, decluttering the storage room. Cleared out a couple bins & filled up a wastebasket so far. Filled a wastebasket Wednesday cleaning out a couple drawers. This is my DH's last day of full time work & it is my last day off alone.
He will go on Summer hours & will work Tues & Wed from 9:00 to 1:00. I am thinking about going to Menards this afternoon & buying flowers to plant.
Everyone have a great day!

Gbug, when is the show?

It's cloudy here and looks like rain, but isn't. Chilly out, had to bring plants in off the deck last night.
Was a crap week but now I am off the antibiotics I feel 100% better. Having greek yogurt with an acidophilus chaser for lunch.
Our dinner plans with friends got cancelled, got to come up with dinner. Also working on the grocery list and menu plan for next week.
Foot looks... better. I think the wound is getting shallower.
Winkie, glad you got your machine fixed. Everyone else, good luck with your chores and errands.

ILC-=thanks she still has a ways to go. I called her up and invited her and BF to come to the fish fry at the sportsmans club. She sees him on the weekends and he usually picks her up Fri. BUt it hinges on his job. So she says she doesnt know if he is. Then she said if we did this would she have to stay over (and clean). I said we thought we could just have dinner and then you'd hang w/ him. Then she wanted to know if we'd get her. Well its 40 miles each way. So i said yes if he drove her bback. Well she wanted to know if we could take her both ways and I said no. Becuase we eat dinner until about 8pm and then drive up and back in the rust bucket van or her dad do it after a rough trip. So she got snippy. I said how come it seems we are getting into to an arguement when I offered to buy you dinner. WELL,noooo. I finally said call me if you can make it because we are going 1 way or another. She hasnt seen her dad in a month and I thought I was being nice. DH said its because its not specifically on her terms, I said no its an invite so it wouldnt be. Still some growing to do I guess. And of course the usual thought. IF you drove...
Took an allergy pill and conked out so I never got milk or meds. Love /hate4 those things.
CH-it has been an irritating but not fatal week. Everything simple seemed to be more work but we got the "prize"

Good morning. It's raining. I went to Home Depot, bought dirt, 3 pepper plants and seeds. Hauled to garden (except seeds) but did not stay due to rain. Dog was brushed. May work on the small beige/tan quilt today. I did work on the yard for 75 minutes after supper Friday. So I am getting things done as weather permits. Making a grocery list and need to plan & cook some foods to take to my parents in a week or so. Freezer space is still tight.

I went to Menards yesterday, spent $75.00, but used rebate slips, so no cash outlay. Plus I will get 11% of that back. I bought the salsa mix I like & a couple packs of canning lids. I like to get that stuff early so I don't have to search at the last minute. Plus the price was OK. Some places price those lids like they were made of gold! I got twelve pepper plants (2 kinds), and 12 tomatoes (two kinds) & then a bunch of flowers to do my hanging planters & pots. They were a six pack for $1.88. I got few accent plants as well. I do my pots with this formula; the thrill, the fill & the spill. So a feature plant, a trailing plant & smaller stuff to fill in.
I also got mothballs. Those dumb things cost $8.99!!!!. I am going to see if I can deter the varmits from digging up the pots. They have already emptied everything that was sitting outside, so I have a mess to clean up. I know mothballs are dangerous, but I left them in their little net bags so I don't have loose balls scattered around.
It is still pretty early for our area to plant, so the plants are in the garage for now. It was 80 degrees Thursday & it was 41 this morning...
My DD2 just popped in with a dozen roses for me. They are a beautiful cream color with pinkish,/burgundy tips. I knew she was selling them for Rotary, so it wasn't a total surprise, but still nice that she & DH got them for me. ( I am very impressed that she is even involved in Rotary. She is more civic minded than I was at her age.)
This is DH's first Saturday off since December. I am trying to talk him in to running away, but he is not acting very eager... May end up picking sticks out of the yard...
FW- you have gotten me thinking about a new purse. Especially since I am going on a little trip, I think I might like something new, plus with a zipper top. I am thinking I want something big enough for my iPad. I looked at the mall last week & cruised thru volunteers of American yesterday. I tried to look on Amazon, since I have a gift card, but still haven't come up with anything. My gift card is $150.00, so that would be my max. I probably have never spent more than $50.00 in the past, but hey I am getting old- this new one might last me the rest of my life! Lol!
Everyone have a great day!

Winkie, I love your pot filling plan, I have to steal that idea. As for varmints, here's a cheap trick. Get dollar store cayenne pepper powder and cinnamon. Mix in a bowl and then refill the shakers. Apply to the dirt in your baskets and pots. Squirrels hate it and won't dig in them. Has to be reapplied after rain, though.
DH and I are going downtown to an art show. I hope it is not too crowded and we can find parking. I will be on the scooter. We have gone every year for years, and look forward to it each spring.
Will have DH get some cheap steaks out of the freezer before we go.
04-22-2017, 03:58 PM
winkie-they have them at Dollar Tree.
CH-wonder if the mice hate cayenne and cinnamon??
Heck of a morning. Paid the auto ins. DD doesnt have her part and it "pissed" I brought it up even though I have over the last few months. Went to print down and the printer was too anemia to feed so I went and bought an HP4655/ Not the best but $55. after instant rebate at Sams. Scans, prints, copies so it will be good enough. I dont do photos and dont need it to talk to a tablet or smart phone. For $122. they had the ENVY one. Both are windows 10 compatible. I forgot to check if the cartridges came w/ it. Pretty sure IK the answer but I'll wait and surprise myself tonight.lol
DH is trying to put the new deck on the mower and wasting our whole day. I told him I'm taking it in. Men are ridiculous. Hes spitting about how there seems to be some hurry. Yeah dude is spring and grass needs cutting. I got the new deck 8 mo. ago.
So I decided to hand back thier poopy attitude and move on w/ my day. Need to put away a lot of stuff i got at Sams and go get his meds at Kroger. I hope to grill burgers too. Maybe do a load of blankets. ?? Going w/ the flow.
