    Default Gift Closet challenge

I want to get on the ball to stock my gift closet for the kids this year. Anyone want to join a challenge with me?

So often, I get stuff to put away for the kids and end up giving it to them. *sigh*

I want to just hold myself accountable and get some stuff stashed away for Christmas 2005.

Hmmm... I keep mine stocked year-round. In fact, I probably overstock mine, as I periodically have to purge it and donate stuff to the gift shop at work. But, I'm interested to hear what the challenge might involve.

I'm interested as well. I had a fairly good stocked one until Christmas and now it's all but cleaned out. I like to keep it with gifts I can use for last minute birthdays, etc., not only for kids but for adults too.

Basically, if you have a fully stocked gift closet then you don't really need the challenge. lol Not that you couldn't join in though and mention what you're adding to yours though that maintains it being stocked. I aspire to get to a point where I have a stocked gift closet. I just don't seem to have the discipline to keep it there and not give the gifts. ugh

I have a problem with keeping mine stocked. I pick up stuff and give them year round vs. saving some things for Christmas.

Basically, I just want a challenge where we post how much we spent and what we're popping into the gift closet. This will keep me accountable.

Last Christmas was my least prepared holiday ever. I didn't even do my shopping until the week of Christmas. I don't want to be in that situation again this year.

So, similar to the pantry challenge but for the gift closet.

Well, I try to do this but then I forget where I put it. So once I get decluttered I am game. I already have a box of books from the Scholastic Teachers book sale and several art kits and craft kits from Target.

I went to Target last night, and found several little items that I can use for stocking stuffers next Christmas or give as gifts as needed during the year. I think I'm going to get a big plastic storage tote and tuck things away in it. It would really save on having to pay full price for last minute gifts. I'm going to get stuff for both kids and adults. I did this somewhat last year, but I'd like to expand upon it and be more organized about it, too. It really feels good to have my act together!

Well, you can still get the Girls of the World from American Girl -- originally around $50. On sale for $16. (www.americangirl.com) I bought 2 and have them already wrapped to donate to the Angel Tree through our church.

AG also has some hardcover Angelina Ballerina books on sale for $5. I'm thinking of getting those for my stash.

Also, check out Tuesday Morning if there's one near you. Last week, we picked up nice journals and stationary for about $5 apiece. Got 2 leather-bound journals (DH is giving me one for my birthday) for $6 apiece. Probably not quite as nice as the ones I see at our local (spendy) bookstore -- for about $45 apiece. But still pretty classy.

I think I'd like to do this. I am a last minute shopper. I do make some of my stuff ahead of time but I always lament the week before Christmas that I didn't start early enough.

    So count me in!

I'm in! We set certain $ amounts to spend on each person (me, dh, and ds) for Christmas and a certain $ amount to spend on stocking stuffers for each of us. I buy all year long, hide the loot, and keep a list so I don't overbuy.

I also keep one year round. I try to have items in there for birthdays, weddings, Christmas, etc.

I will just add when I get something new to add to the closet.

I'm in for this! I will need to restock my gift closet for the kids, but I'm ready for the women in my life with soaps and candles I bought at after Christmas sales. I was able to buy all of my dd's bday gifts ahead of time, woohoo!
