I had great visions of cleaning out my fridge today, but somehow I hurt my right hand and it is all swollen, I couldn't even wring out a dishrag!

Tomorrow I am getting out of this house, all by myself! So if my hand feels better I'll start when I get home, if not there is always Wednesday! I am not going to push myself like I did last year and burn out.

For those of you that don't know me well this may sound weird, but I made a cake, dinner (wasn't Jack just surprised! ) and I did the stairs both flights 4 times to wash a comforter and 2 quilts and got them out on the line. Then my knees and hip gave out, so with my hand, knees and hip, I'm in FINE shape! ROFL

Everyone's posts are so inspiring! I worked most of today so will be starting this tomorrow. I already did some cleaning this weekend in the kitchen, mopped the floor, washed all my counters, outsides of cabinets, window sills and vents.

I know my cabinets can use a good spring cleaning inside. I'll be starting under the sink.

Today I cleaned out the pantry and the cabinets where food is stored. Any that looked old or had a bad date was tossed. Also since dd can't tolerate anything containing dairy, I separated all the foods that she can't have and put them on a special shelf in the pantry and marked it as the "contains dairy" shelf. I was amazed at what had hid in the back of my cabinets.

I also cleaned out the refrigerator and tossed quite a bit of old looking yuck from there as well. All the foods that Ryan can't have in the frig are in the bottom drawer and it's marked too.

Cleaned off the counters and straighted up a bit too.

4 kitchen drawers done so far today and 1 lower cabinet.

Last night I sat down and went through a cookbook I know I want to get rid of (donate) because there aren't many recipes in it I use. I'm jotting those down to add to my homemade cookbook and then it will be out of here.

OK.... I'm in, but, just got to this thread today (Tuesday at nearly 1pm) since we just got home from vacation yesterday. Today DD is sick-- so, in between rocking her I'm catching up on other stuff both online and around the house. I have a mountain of vacation laundry to tackle today, too.

My kitchen definitely needs work-- the island is where we stuff all the things we don't know what to do with. I did my pantry two weeks ago, and it's still in great shape. I'll be concentrating on the fridge today and hopefully one of the junk drawers on the island. After I get DD down for a nap I'll take the "before" pictures, and then I'll dig in!

It's time to sort through all the cabinets, wash em down and reorganize. I bought new measuring spoons and cups recently and have been meaning to weed out my other incomplete sets. Thanks for the motivation ladies.

    Day 2- The Extremely Over-cluttered Baker's Rack:

Again, this is so bad that I almost don't want to post. Please keep in mind that I *AM* working on this. For a while I was getting rid of 5 things a day. I am a huge paper-horder. I love info, and paper has info, so it is a big problem for me. I got rid of a stack of magazines as big as the ones that are still there, and I plan to get rid of a lot of the ones that are still there, as well as orgaizing more of them into magazine boxes. And being a former pastry chfe, cookbooks and other recipe sources as a big sticking point. I have already gotten rid of at least half of my cookbooks, and the majority of my cooking magazines. (And no, I haven't bought any new ones in years.)

Anyway, here it is at its awful worst:

I forgot to add that I got the two drawers cleaned out. One is completely empty and the other is the official house "junk" drawer, so there is still stuff in there, but anything that actually belonged somewhere else is now in it's proper spot.

It has been much harder to get anything done today. DD is being cranky and bossy and just generally touble. Once I was all done, she got into my recipe box and threw them all over the floor. She just gets into everything!!!

Wow! Great job everyone! I did my kitchen last week before we had our company, so i don't have before pics for comparison. But I can tell you what i got rid of. Three trash bags full of :

old salt/pepper shakers that I had sitting on my stove forever. they were old, sticky and wouldn't clean anymore. Gross. Old spices that we'd never used and those that we had used all but a few flakes left in the jars. empty cleaner bottles from under the sink, old papers from on the fridge, old yucky containers and bottles. clutter-y decorations that i had all over the place, empty boxes and old stuff from the pantry, plastic lids and bottoms that have no mates, old dish clothes full of holes and tattered. And so on and on.

whoops got happy with the submit button.

I scrubbed surfaces with 409, mopped the floor with lysol stuff, and windexed all my windows in there. I scrubbed behind the stove top and got the layer of grime off the wall. I got the stove top cleaned up and relined with foil under the burners.

My kitchen looks great...now if i could convince DH that this IS the way it is SUPPOSED to look, not just a fluke!

I just finished the last 2 drawers in the kitchen and the one lone cupboard on one wall. I only have the bottom cupboards to do which I'm going to finished today.

Dh said "awesome". I like that he is noticing.
