    Talking Spring fling - packrats!!!!

Okay I'm really getting into the spring fling thing this year. BUT I'm finding I have a number of packrats in my home.

Dh - the more I throw out, the more he wants to bring in. If I throw out an old rag, he wants it in his workshop. I've gotten now where I throw out the garbage before he gets home.

Justin - he keeps every piece of paper he has, be it tiny pieces or large pieces. He wants to keep every book that he has even if he has read it numerous times or even if the book isn't interesting to him. Along with that, he'd like to keep all his "small" clothes. Oh yes, he even wants to keep pens with no ink!!!!

Chelsey - okay she is the worse. Papers everywhere. Boxes fill with finds from her "archeology" digs. Clothes too small. Dolls she doesn't play with anymore. Books she doesn't even want but she keeps anyways. In her closet she had 2 full boxes of old barrets (she didn't want), markers that didn't have ink, a recorder she didn't want BUT she didn't want to get rid of them even though she didn't want them!!!!

It drives me NUTS!!! They all think its humerous - NOT.

So, how many packrats in your home and does it affect your spring fling challenge in any way?

No packrats here luckily. I'm sure that will change in a few years with my kids though.

I keep staring at my shelf of Gabe's paperbacks though and I want to get rid of them sooooo bad.

I am the packrat here! Hubby is a little, but I am the big one I have gotten better though in my search for simplicity

I fight pack-rat tendencies. My parents are both pack-rats so I come by it honestly My big struggle is sentimental things like cards, ticket stubs, etc. I'm getting better about this though. Either I scrap it or I throw it away (at least that's the plan). This doesn't work with larger objects though. I'm trying! I don't want to pass this trait to my girls - although I suspect it's probably to late for Isabel

I'm more a packrat than DH, although he is with certain things. I've gotten a lot better in the last two years as I try to simplify my life. I want to get this under control before DD is old enough to pick up my habits!

I am the total packrat in the family... I save cards, ticket stubs, anything with a sentimental attactchment... I save things that have my parents hand writing, just because they are not here anymore... I save too much!!! I mean I can only save only so many bags, boxes, and the such.. I know it, that is the scary and sad thing...

Dd is the packrat here. Well ok dh is also but he is a very organized pack rat. A place for everything and everything in its place. Not so with dd. Her room looks like the black hole. She insists that she knows what is in the piles. Her new saying is "organized people are just too lazy to look for things" Every once in a while she will emerge with a trash bag full of stuff to throw away. Usually just before she comes in with 2 bags of stuff and says "look at all this great stuff so and so was just GIVING away
