I finally got some shopping done over the weekend. One nephew is finished! Also found a doll for my friend's little girl & a few other goodies. DH even picked up several gifts while we were out (he shops for his family). I didn't find everything on my list at stores we went to, but its a start!

Normally I spend over $3000 for Christmas gifts, this year I decided after much thinking I decided on a budget of $1000 for the grandkids and the other kids I buy for. So far I am under budget ! We decided to buy the grandkids something they could use year around and ended up deciding on bedding sets & pajamas, along with 1 toy or a book. I was able to buy 9 complete bedding sets for $496.71 and 9 pajama sets for $135.73 and the other gifts total $117.00 so far. I only have to pick up 3 more toys or books & 1 pr of jeans for the oldest grandson, since he isn't getting pjs. Grand total so far: $739.44...I can't believe how well I am doing!!! Looks like I will actually come in under budget for the this year...yippee!!!

I am thinking of next year also. Since DH pays all the bills, I work as much as I can through November and early December to pay for Christmas. So, while I have done it for 3 years now, I really do want to start planning ahead for next year. I have a "Christmas Club" that automatically takes $20 out of my checking account into a savings account on the 1st and 15th of every month. However, I transfer that back into my checking account just about every month! lol
I also have a change jar started that I will use for my anual mother's day scrapbooking weekend with my mom, aunt, two sisters and a bunch of our friends. After that, I will use my change jar for Chrristmas '09. I also want to be able to STOP transferring that $20 back into my checking account. So my work goal will be to pick up an additional 3 hours every two weeks so I can keep that amount in my savings account. That will be harder than it sounds though as I work retail and after the holidays we're all fighting over hours. I have to work at LEAST 15 hours a week just to make my every other week contribution to our family. Some weeks last year, I wouldn't even get 12 hours...
$500 in Savings Account
$200 in change jar
$100 earned in free gift cards
Half hand made gifts (start in Summer!!)
