Default Week of 1/20/08 - Getting Rid of 7 Things Challenge

Okay, so, today we start a new week, which gives us yet another opportunity to get rid of 7 more things from our cluttered lives.

I forgot to add in last week that I sent out 40 CD's to secondspin.com (my Dad sent some over in addition to the ones we had), so I'm counting that as one for the whole, yearly total.

For today, I'm doing the New Year, New Home challenge #2 and I hope to fill a grocery bag from the vertical surfaces in my bedroom.

2 items so far for today. Another shirt and another pair of shoes. It pains me to get rid of any shoes! LOL!

I am done with this challenge for the week.

I tossed a 1/2 of bag full of "junk" from my bedroom. I tossed an old mug that was holding pens and pencils, lots of old papers, some knick knacks that I don't feel like dusting any longer, and some old costume jewelry. It was more than 7 items.

I got rid of some books and a ton of papers. I will work on my 5 other things tomorrow.

I love cleaning out junk because I find things we need. ie. band-aids...lots and lots of band-aids...My dd always has something that needs to be covered with a band-aid...hypochondriac....so finding band-aids and adding them to the band-aid box always puts a smile on my face.

Okay, did the New Year, New Home challenge and filled a grocery bag with trash from the challenge. So, I'm counting that as 2 items, even though it was filled with many more than that. (I SO love a challenge.)

Today, I'm spending the day off hunting for larger things to eBay or freecycle. I think I've been doing too well with this, because there isn't much left!

However, I'll keep the challenges coming!

I've scheduled a charity pick-up for Thursday, so I'll be getting rid of way more than seven things. There are four trashbags of clothing waiting in the garage, and there will be more going out by Thursday.

Okay, I've freecycled 3 electronic toddler toys, had Dd pull out books from her bookcase to donate and have quite a nice pile, and threw away a toy, and am selling 8 books on eBay that Dd had duplicates of. I'm going to count each toy, but will count all the books as one. So, I'm off to add 5 items to my total!

Got rid of some items from my stockpile - air freshener and a few bottles of shampoo and body washes. Total of 5 items so far. The other day I tossed another small box of trinkets. I have half of a garbage bag going so far of unwanted clothes.

    Is that seven???

A WALL!!! That's funny! I think it does count, after all the goal is to declutter and the wall may have been in your way. he he

To add to my list for the week:
~1 bag of trash from my son's room
    ~2 cd roms
    ~1 stuffed animal
    ~5 movies
    ~1 bag of clothes

My son is at outdoor lab, so I'm cleaning his room. Won't he be surprised!!!

I love this idea!! I have been wanting to get rid of something every time I walk out to the Dumpster (in addition to the regular trash). Our basement is a mess and we might possibly move again this summer.
