Default Week of 2/10/08 - Getting Rid of 7 Things Challenge

Well, I apologize...I was at meetings or rehearsals every night last week, so I wasn't able to check in, but rest assured, I was still getting rid of my 7 items. How about all of you?

So, here's our check-in point for this week! Post what you toss!

I'm slowly adding an item here, an item there. Have a sweater & several what nots in the give away bag. Also tossed a frog yard stake (looked really bad), several candle tins/jars & a few old bottles of shampoo/shower gel over the weekend. Not counting each item... grouping items from an area & count as 1. Have lots more to go through this week!

Okay, so far this week, I've freecycled a bag of stuffed animals, cleaned out the craft area and tossed a grocery bag full of stuff, sold 40 cd's, and tossed a pair of stockings.

    Talking ONLY 7 to ditch

Well it appears most of you have alot less clutter than me.
OUT of work again ...I am determined to turn this STUFF into cold hard cash.

    My aim
    to declutter
    to get some dough
    to donate some
    and finally to get ORGANIZED

hopefully all of this will help me move forward on a more simpified existance.

    Things I am dumping
    a gorgeous armoire
    clothes
    shoes
    china/crystal ...c'mon I'm NOT using the stuff
    a-ton-o-nic-naks
old mags...will drop them off at the doctors offices
handbags ...OMG and half the time I dont carry one at all
Coats ...seem to collect coats ..guess cus I am cold all the time
chairs ...I have too many..especially outside chairs
    and loads more

so first I am gonna try those free ads ...craigslist is one..
everyday I will drop off something to charity...
ONE bag ...or more if I am up to it

GOTTa do it ...think clean ...think green ...aww quit thinking do it already!
    Ohh and by the way
*can you get $$ for dust bunnies... they mutiply like the real thing...and if I could get dough for that I'd be laughing.

I worked all week and didn't get home until after 6:00 p.m. so haven't had time to do this challenge. The good news is I have the next three days off so plan on starting on this tomorrow.

We have tons of stuff from moving stored in the "spare room" so I have lots to go through. Will post my progress later this weekend.

I have joined you all BUT my means of doing it is having a yard sale. I can get rid of things, but I have a hard time giving or throwing them away. I have set aside many things (books - I love my books so this is the hardest, light fixtures, sheets, dishes, etc -plus, have to go to my moms to look at the stuff I am storing there).

Nice to see people decluttering, and going against society's belief that more is better. I don't think I can get rid of anything else. I own an old(but reliable) car that I just drive to college and back, my clothes, hygiene stuff, and a mid grade computer, and that is literally it. I moved back in with my parents, even though I am 28, because the rent is cheaper, and they are both disabled, so my rent money helps them buy groceries and other stuff, plus I mow the yard, take out the garbage, ect.
