    Default Leave it Out Challenge

So, we spend a lot of our time, here in the Home Organization forum, discussing our decluttering efforts. But, let's look at this logically: If we stopped bringing things in, we wouldn't have as much to take out!

    So, here's what I propose:

Let's have a Leave it Out Challenge. For one week, let's see how many of us can go without bringing anything new into the house, except for food.

Obviously, we cannot fight things that are thrust upon us, like those of us who are parents, will undoubtedly have schoolwork that is sent home for us to look at. That's something that is outside our control.

However, we can make a choice EVERYDAY to not buy anything, no matter how great of a deal it is. We can choose to NOT respond to a freecycle ad for something that is free. We can make choices to not bring anything new into our homes.

It seems to go hand-in-hand with the No Spend Challenge, but I know some clutterbugs who find free stuff all the time to clutter up their homes. So, let's not bring ANYTHING in...free or not.

    Anyone with me?

We'll start tomorrow morning and we'll go through next Friday.

    Leave it Out!!!

    I'll do this!

I have been flinging and flunging and flanging, so not bringing stuff in will be a step in the right direction.

Oh, DANG, I was gonna get a new cutting blade on my circular fabric cutter! Oh well, just have to wear it out and make it last!

This is me too. Piece of cake. I'm generally decluttering because of other people bringing stuff in. My stuff builds only in the book area or from my mother and sister sending stuff over (which I take to get it out of thier house and recycle to someone who needs it) So I'm going to up the ante for my FAMILY and say nothing new is coming in from any of us. Most weeks I wouldn't even try that with the boys forever bring stuff home from school. But since it's spring break week my main focus can be on hubby and not bringing the boys to a store to spend thier money.

    Here we go

    Yeah! So exciting!!!

I am doing the challenge, personally, this week because this upcoming week is my Spring Break. It's easy when I'm working because who has time to go get anything to bring into the house? But, there will be lots of free and tempting time this week, so I'm hoping to be successful!!!

This thread inspired me not to go clothes shopping this weekend. There is a store here with great sales this weekend and several of my friends are going, but the only way I could buy would be to charge. I can make do with the few clothes I have for work. We have not used our credit cards in months so don't want to start now.

Went to town today to run errands and only bought $65 in groceries and came back home. No extras we don't really need.

Sounds great, ladies!!! Rainy day here, so it may be tough as to combat cabin fever, we often go window shopping at the mall (we usually don't buy) but we do go. I'll be staying strong, though.

Nothing in yesterday (Friday) and actually two boxes of stuff out. DH has a co-worker (one of the younger guys) whose house (renting in bad area) burned down a couple of days ago. He lost EVERYTHING. He's staying at one of the other guys flip house (empty and re-doing to sell) for a couple of days till he gets in an apartment. I sent basics. (pillow, blanket, saop, socks stuff). As I go through the house this wek gathering yard sale goodies I'll be on the lookout and gathering for him as well. It's much easier to pass stuff on when it will be used and is NEEDED. I'll be pulling from my freebies and stockpile as well.

We didn't hit the mall yesterday, so we brought nothing in. Today, we did yardwork and challenged each other to tournaments on the Wii and did laundry, so nothing brought in today either.
