    Well that's a bit disconcerting- so say the least.

    Did the writer really say... "Frugality is the enemy of culture."?
    Shame on her. At the beginning of the article she mentions that the couple was able to pay off $8000 cc debt in one year just by being frugal. Shouldn't that be a good thing?

    I personally don't think being frugal is the enemy of culture. I am frugal and I still buy things... like clothing, cars, household appliances, etc. I just am careful and research where the money is going before I part with it. And not put it on a cc!

    This is the way I look at it. If others want to spend, spend, spend and not save. That's okay. I'm here, I'll take the item (for free or for pennies) you no longer want (that you bought last year) and put it to good use. At the same time, I'm banking the savings- which is growing.

    Come retirement, I'll be living the life you can no longer afford.
