Question Need ideas for a large iron pot!

I was given one of those old black iron pots, the ones that you would hang from a tripod to cook, say, corn over a fire. It is very large, at least 3 feet across. I am needing some ideas. I don't know whether use it as a planter (lots of flowers) or what.

My neighbour suggested painting it a solid colour and then painting a theme on it and leaving it empty.

If you have any ideas I'd sure appreciate it!!

Carolyn, your ideas are wonderful!! Wow, how creative!! Thanks you very much!! I guess I am going to have to decide whether I want it inside or out.

My patio out the back has lots of room, out front is just a stoop type landing with a patio type walkway.

I acquired one when we moved into this house. I plan to plant petunias in it.

I have a hugh similar pot, and have not known what to do with it for the past 4 years!! We found it in my grandmothers garage after she died. We think it was from her parents homestead.

It is BIG and heavy, wide, but not as deep as it is wide..

    Some good ideas here...!!

    Thanks

Heather, I cant think of a better idea than the one that you originally posted to put it on its side looking like it is spilling out.

Thank you ladies for your great ideas!! I have been outside most of the last two days arranging where things are going, digging up the gardens and deciding the best place for this pot.............I will let you know what I decide.

We have 2 of those pots Heather. They hang from stands made by someone....we plant asperagus fern and ice plant in ours. By about June 15 they are beautiful. We carry them into the pump house for the winter and save the plants every year, as we do with most of our potted plants. We have some that are 15 years old.
