Default Down on the Homestead December 4 - December 10

    Good morning!
I didn't see where anyone had started this weeks thread.

Well, things have been really rough with Ryan. He's had outbursts, mini-outbursts, excessive hyperness, etc. Even in school. He was swearing at this teacher, kicking other kids desk until they almost fall over, etc. But, dh went to therapy with us the other night which was very nice. Now, I think we're more on the same page than I thought and will be even more too.

Other than that, not much is going on. We're still waiting for the test results from Nicole's bone scan. I'm going to have to call the Dr's office tomorrow to find out if they have received them yet.

I'm not sure what dh made for breakfast this morning as he lets me sleep in & cooks. woo hoo! lol

Lunch will be soup & garlic cheese bread

Dinner is a chicken skillet, salad, dinner rolls & an orange cake for dessert.

I might do a little of my housecleaning today, not sure yet.

I hope all of you are doing well!
It is snowing here. We have about an inch and I think it will stopping soon. I don't mind the snow so much if I don't have to go out & drive in it!! lol

Well, you all have a wonderful day!

    Good morning!

I haven't gotten one thing accomplished this weekend! I keep moving around the house, thinking that I am cleaning, but then I turn around and it is just as messy SO, I took a break!

Well, my FIL is officially moved in with us. Along with all of his extra stuff. I think that is why everything looks so cluttered. Plus with the Christmas tree up, there isn't alot of room. Oh well.

I'm going to try to get the following done today:
    Vacuum
    Clean both bathrooms
    Clean our bedroom (done)

I'm making pork chops and stuffing for supper.

I hope everyone has a lovely day! I'll check in later.

    Good morning friends!

    Dawn, thinking of you often.

Julie, I am glad your FIL is officially moved in.

A cold front moved in last night and it feels great. Yesterday the temps were back in the 80's. Today's high will be 53. What a big difference. The boys are cuddled on the coach with throw blankets on. I swear it is colder in this house than it is outside. BRRR! I am trying not to turn the heat on if possible, but will if neccessary.

I don't have alot of housecleaning to do today as I tried really hard all week to keep up with it. I do have laundry to do and it is going as I type. I just need to sweep the floors. The bathrooms are done.

I saw a few things in the Walgreens paper that I may run to get that will be next to free with coupons, plus I have money on my Walgreens GC, so I won't be spending any money out of pocket.

I've been wondering where folks have been. I'm working my third 12-hr shift, so I have nothing homestead-y to report. Tomorrow, I'll be back in my kitchen baking bread and making yogurt. I'm also going to sprout some alfalfa seeds for salads. I'm thinking about starting some green onions in the house too. I hate paying 89c for a bunch of onions.

We've had snow, which is very unusual for us - especially this early in the year. Snow fell all day Thursday, again briefly Thursday night, all night Friday night and again briefly Saturday afternoon. We have a total of maybe 3 inches. That's a lot here, trust me. Driving to work in the dark with heavy snow falling (Saturday morning) was a bit of a white-knuckle experience, but I've stayed warm and safe.

Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend.

    Hello friends!

Not much going on here today. I have gotten the living room and office vacuumed and got a load of laundry going but that is all so far. I think I will pull the linens off the beds and wash them this afternoon. I love the smell of clean linens.

    Have a great day everyone!

I have been busy working as well. Had our annual friends Christmas party last night. So except for laundry which I am tackling now, the house is in pretty good shape.

We are having leftovers from the party for dinner tonight.

Well got to get back to work and laundry.

Big laundry day here. Dh and one of his co-workers are working on the baby's room. I've been trying to declutter as well (junk mail, catalogs dh has kept, etc.).

Dh also talked to a couple of ladies at church this morning about a new ministry they have started. They have branched off from a local rescue horse deal and are taking in horses themselves now. They are offering kids, teens, and grown-ups the opportunity to ride and care for the horses (feeding, grooming, etc.). I'm not sure if there is a charge because dh forgot to ask (with the other group it's $25 for 30 minutes), but because this is a ministry of our church now there are requirements for church attendance and such. They seemed quite interested to learn that dh grew up on a horse and cattle farm so it may be an opportunity for us to really help out beyond the riding. We've been wanting to get ds into something like this for a while and I would love to do it as well for some 'alone' time.

    Have a great day!

    Hello Homesteaders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have missed the board so much!!! I have been working non-stop and finally had my first day off in ten whole days!!!!
Can't wait to catch up with everyone. Woke up to about six inches of snow this morning and when I went to shovel the front steps and walkway, it had already been done. I don't know who the special person is but I am grateful!
Playing catch up today, lots of laundry, cooking and cleaning.
    See ya!

    Hello, all!

Patrick and I started out our day at ShopRite saving about $100 on groceries and stocking up on toilet paper, soap, meats, and mixes for my maternity leave. Of course, we also did the regular shopping for the week. (you can see the complete list in the grocery challenge thread)

Then, I went and did round two of the 5 hours of tutoring for the weekend. Yesterday, the boy and I spent 2.5 hours on math. Today, 2.5 hours on science. We had two weeks worth of stuff to catch up on. He'll have to work on the Social Studies and English throughout the week. After that, I came home and we went to my neice's second birthday party. A little chaotic, but fun. Then, I brought Patrick home and Julia and Rob went to town because guess who came tonight? Santa! She was thrilled to have seen him.

I got a little laundry done and a few essays graded, but now I'm quickly checking the village and my e-mail and then hitting the hay. Busy weekends wear me out for the workweek.

Valerie, we had the same storm as you, but we had one earlier this week too so we had a total of about 6 in.! The kids loved it!
But I get tired of walking up our divway (about 500ft and steep) because our cars can't make it up in the snow . And a gallon of milk weighs ALOT! The fresh snow this morning made our small country road impassable so we couldn't get to church.

But I must admit it is beautiful to look at it. Like a Christmas card. It has been so cold with no wind so that all the trees were still covered and every bare branch was outlined. All the Christmas decorating in the world could not rival natures beauty.... (as long as you don't have to drive in it!)

The children never seem to tire of sledding (but they argue over who gets the inner tube because it goes the fastest....simply taking turns never seems to be an option .

After lunch my sister came out so that she could drive dd to her theater group's Christmas production while I took my youngest to fiddle with her group in a tree lighting ceremony in the park.
~I froze but Dd and her fellow fiddlers gave a great concert and she looked so cute in her gingham skirt and braids. The crowd LOVED them. Dd was delighted with the fancy glowsticks that each of the fiddlers were given. We also had free cider (It was very good) and popcorn and the host treated the kids to hotdogs. Dd also had more than her share of candycanes.
And when they turned on the Lights Little Dd gave a gasp. It was very beautiful.

My sister took eldest to her swimming test (after treating her to Mac Donalds) after her performance and she passed! She is now Level 11!!!!

I am trying to tidy up a bit now.....after a weekend on the run.

It's been one of those days--for a few days. LOL I haven't accomplished much but hubby has progressed quite a bit on the house. The roof rafters are up and welded into place. The forms for the cement (caps and filling blocks) are about half done. Cement trucks were supposed to come out Tuesday or so but now they're postponed until probably Friday. Site clean up still isn't done but we have an extra couple of days now to do that.

Oh, we got some free bricks and blocks today. Yay!

Maybe I'll just sleep for the next week. I've been a tired, cranky butt! LOL

I'm not always good about making individual comments, but I do enjoy hearing about everyone's day! Thanks!

It's good to be home after working three days. I don't mind the work; I just don't like being away from home. While I was working a box arrived with 40 glass spice jars that I ordered. I spent the morning pouring spices out of little baggies (I buy in bulk) and into my new pretty jars. I have a rotating rack that they fit into, 10 to a side. I made a list of which items I need more of, as well.

This afternoon I'm going to make some cookies. At last year's Christmas gift exchange (at work), I 'gave' a dozen cookies a month thru the year. This is my last batch, and I'm glad. I always felt like I had to bake some particularly nice cookies, not just something plain. Also the person who ended up receiving these (random) happened to be allergic to chocolate, which eliminates a LOT of recipes. But she's nice and I think she's enjoyed them.

We still have snow in our yard, but there are bare patches begining. I LOVE snow and I hope we gets lots this year. I'm watching the little birds right now (juncos I think). They are happy for the bare patches.

So the rest of today will be spent catching up around the house. Hope everyone has a good day.

    Hello homesteaders

Today has been busy, but a good busy. I've cut dh's hair (that was interesting as he could sit for long with his cracked ribs), I vacuumed the whole house, did a quick wipe down of the bathroom, have two loaves of bread on their final rise, and made a few phone calles.

This afternoon I need to bake cookies, pick up dd, do a couple loads of laundry and start wrapping gifts for mailing later this week.

Tonight I hope to curl up in bed with a good book.

Hope you all have a great day

Hi, friends! Sounds like everyone is busy, busy, busy!

Today was a work day, but I left early since I had last block free because I really don't feel well. My concern is that I might have walking pneumonia. This is how I felt when I last had it. Problem...don't know what they'll give me since I'm pregnant!

So, while home, I wrapped all of the kids presents, did laundry, did dishes, and checked e-mail. I have to take the kids to their follow-up ear, nose, and throat appointments at 5, and then my doctor is having me swing by her office so she can check me out when they are done. Tonight will be late dinner, and we'll be having leftovers. After everyone goes to bed, I've got more essays to grade (eventually I will have them all done!) and then sleep, sleep, sleep, with dreams of a delayed opening or better yet, no school due to the snow that is supposed to come tonight!!!
