Default Linens N Things going out of business

I read this morning that they are closing remaining stores beginning on the 17th of this month. We don't have one near us but for those of you that do it might be a good time to a) use any gift cards you have and/or b) do some Christmas or birthday shopping at great discounts.

I went to the one by our house Friday. They had the "Gong Out Of Business" sign up, but the discounts were not there, yet. They had not begun the store wide discounts, or any for that matter. It was all regular priced. Also, the one here as a sign up stating they are not accepting any coupons (not theirs or competitor's) or any LNT store credit cards. I hope everyone else's locations are having a better sale than the one by me. I was really disappointed in ours.

We did overhear the sales girl say they hoped to start discounting things "soon". I am just going to keep checking them about once a week. Our A.C.Moore is going out of business, too so I have been hitting them abut once a week. Guess I'll start hitting the two together for the next few weeks.

Ours has been closing for some time now. I think it's taking so long to close because they aren't' marking it down so nobody is buying.

I had not heard that they were going out of business. You never want to see stores go under, and yet this store is filled with nothing but a bunch of "stuff" of which I either don't want to clutter my home with, or I can buy for a fraction of the cost at a garage sale, or online (like at overstock.com).

I'm not surprised...they are so outrageously expensive! Am I the only one that thinks that?

I'm waiting until after Halloween to go and get their Halloween stuff. It'll be something like 75% off or more at that point.

I agree, everytime I went in I found I could find it cheaper else where.

My MIL stopped at one of our LNT and she said the prices were ridiculously high. She didn't buy anything and that's not like her.

The prices are quite high for many things. I have bought very little there - thanks for the heads up though - they have thermal curtains I was planning on buying for our new house. I will check out ours here. I tried the Canadian website and it is gone already.

I drove by ours this weekend, and cars were lined up in the street waiting to get in. Absolutely crazy. And it's only 10-30% off.....big deal.

I too think they are overpriced...I'll wait a while longer.

I have NEVER found anything I wanted to buy there. No wonder they are going under.

I've stopped in twice since the "sale" started and the prices after the discount are what I would pay at any other local store including Target, Walgreens, etc.
    It's ridiculous.

I did pick up a few Yankee Candle items without having to spend $45 (the usual amount needed to use a $/$$ Yankee Coupon), but otherwise the items were overpriced and available elsewhere to begin with.

I wonder how many other businesses will go under in this economy.
