Anyone in the Middle East?
Anyone on here who lives in the Middle East? Or has in the past? I seem to remember a woman who'd recently moved to Israel but that was a couple of years ago. Are you still here? Anyone who's lived over here (or wants to) please post!
We're living in Kuwait. I'm a teacher and in my 2nd year here.

My husband is a contractor over here. He's been here for a few years. The kids and I spent a year in Lebanon to be closer to him. He's from there and so there's family. I knew I could do Lebanon and wanted to work my way up to Kuwait. We joined him a year ago July. This is my 2nd year of teaching here. The school I'm at now is a huge improvement over the school I was in last year. It was a huge mess. After being here a year I'm enjoying it much more. Having my own car now means I'm stuck at home all the time if DH is at work. So the kids are I are able to be part of our church more easily. Also, I'm enjoying my colleagues so much more because we're not all miserable and griping (some still gripe but they would no matter where they were-LOL).
I feel safe here, except when I'm on the road. They're horrible drivers over here. The Kuwaiti drivers are very arrogant and think they own the road and the drivers from third world countries just need a basic driver's ed course. So if you're not awake yet when you get behind the wheel you will be shortly.
Like any other place, there are good areas and bad areas. Ours is OK. There's a lot of construction so no paved streets for us which is bad in the winter when it's raining so much (gotta love all that wet sand) and I'd like to move closer to Salwa. It's still a long drive to school (takes me about 30 min. if I do a good job of avoiding traffic) but I'd be a bit closer without making it too long a trip to my son's school for him. I'd love to move to Ahmadi but it's farther away from my school than where we are now. But I could probably be persuaded anyway if we found decent rent.
Sorry for the book, but you wanted to know. LOL Be careful what you ask for...you might get it.
