Bulk Beef Tip
I buy ground beef in bulk when it's on sale.
I repackage it in 1 lb. portions by weighing it on a kitchen scale,
put it into resealable freezer bags, and flatten the packages
after sealing them. I lay the packages on the shelves of my
freezer until frozen, then they stack easily.
I can then take out only what I need. I defrost them in the
microwave, which saves a lot of time as well.
I got this tip from a friend on another forum and it works great.

I do something similar, only I cook most of mine (boiling it in my biggest stock pot) before freezing it. Two cups of cooked ground beef is the same as a pound. I leave a few pounds uncooked to use in recipes that need uncooked beef.

I also freeze Mashed potatoes in gallon size zip lock baggies and freeze them so they lay flat for instant mashed potatoes when I'm running late.
Tomato sauce and Spaghetti sauce works well with this method too and it saves precious room in my pantry.

I do the same thing with ground beef that Amy does. I never thought of doing mashed potatoes this way. Good tip!
