    Default Today my oldest kiddo

    turns 8 years old!!!

    he's been careful about his birthday list. He wants a couple hotwheels cars and some patches for his pants. (how sad is that, he knows were broke).

    So i am marching him to walmart and letting him pick out a toy and an outfit.

    What a sweet boy!

    Looking back on my birthdays as a kid, I cannot remember a single thing my parents bought me for my birthday until I turned older. What I do remember is that one birthday my dad took me for a long walk in the wood--just me and him....or that one time my mom kept me home from school on my birthday so we could eat lunch together.

    It's no the stuff that will matter to him down the road---its the memories!

    I think that sounds like a great birthday. I used to get a toy and an outfit on my birthday. I don't remember what I received for presents now though, I do remember being with my family and having a home baked cake and everyone laughing and happy. That's probably what your children will remember most too, the fun they had with their family .

    Congrats on having a thinking child! Mine was too, and even little sometimes he preferred to go do something special rather than have things - special could be something like get up and make cocoa and drive up to the lookout to watch the sunrise. It was fun watching him grow up - and still is, though he turned 20 this year!
