    Default Homemade Bisquick Mix

We're a family of seven, so I'm constantly looking for ways to trim our grocery bill. Instead of buying bisquick or jiffy mix, I make my own. If you buy flour when it's on sale, this can be really very cheap. We use it for impossible pies, biscuits, cobblers, pancakes and dumplings.

    8 cups Flour
1 1/4 cups Nonfat Dry Milk
    1/4 cup Baking Powder
    1 tablespoon Salt
    2 cups Shortening

Combine flour, milk, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening.
Store in tightly closed container in cool place.

I have lots of other mixes (taco seasoning, shake and bake etc) if anyone is interested in something in particular, let me know.

    3 tablespoons baking powder
    1 tablespoon salt
    1 cup vegetable shortening

    Directions:
Sift flour, baking powder and salt 3 times into large bowl.

    Thumbs up Baking Mix (Bisquick)

    Baking Mix

    9 cups flour
    2 tsp. salt
    1 cup powdered milk
    3 Tbsp. baking powder
1 cup shortening 9if you use butter make sure you refrigerate mix)

Mix dry ingredients together and then cut in shortening and it works great.

Thanks Heather! I've thought about making my own but wonder, is it a pain to cut in the shortening and any idea how much money it saves vs buying it in the store? That big box of Jiffy biscuit mix calls my name in the store, lol.
