I either make my own or use Seventh Generation brand or Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soap diluted.
Right now I am using Era. I never really used it before, but Meijer had it on sale 2 for $5!! Now I wish I would've gotten more because it is wonderful. It cleans great and smells even better. I like Tide, but I just refuse to pay so much for it. I really really like the Arm & Hammer plus softner with the pink lid....it smells sooooooo goood!! Plus, I don't have to use an additional fabric softner with it. As far as dryer sheets go, I really like the one's at my Dollar Tree store. They work great and the smell is not too strong and overpowering.
i loved era detergent. i can't find it anywhere here anymore!
Tide exclusivly for 35 years
All Free and Clear and Woolite. Anything else breaks me out in big itchy hives.
I use whatever is on sale. Right now I have Xtra on hand.
A few years back, "Consumer Reports" stated Tide cleaned the best of all detergents so that is what I buy. I try to get it on sale and with a coupon and I use half of the recommended amount. I have some laundry disks I throw in the wash for added agitation.
I switched to Arm & Hammer years ago and it works great. Over the years I've saved hundreds of dollars because of that one little change.
I have been using All free and clear for the past 5-6 years, I guess since dd was born and had such horrible excema. Lately, it just hasn't been on sale and I have been wondering if there is something better out there. I think it works fine on getting the clothes clean, although I don't really have anything to compare it too, since I have used it for so long.
I bought a thing of Tide with Febreeze and I love the way it smells, but I feel like there is a coating on the clothes. I notice it when I am hanging them up to dry, so they are wet when I feel it. I do not notice it when they are dry. i can't decide if I like it or not. It does do a fine job cleaning I think.
Anyway, what kind do y'all use and why do you like it? Thanks!
I use "Bang" It comes in about a 4 gallon plastic pail, which I love since we live on a farm. Our clothes don't smell dirty when washed, but we get many stains due to farm life, but then we have different clothes for farm use and school/town use. It says 160 loads, I never counted but it last me about a month and cost $15.99
I used to use whatever was cheapest or on sale (normally the big bucket of WindFresh from Sams) until I read consumer reports on the tests they did with detergents. Tide came out as least damaging to clothes (fading, stain removal) so I switched. We seldom buy clothes that aren't second hand so if I can keep them looking some what new it helps.
I got a bunch of liquid Tide on the clearance a while back. They were 3.00 a jug, which was cheaper than A&H and Purex (usually the cheapest). I got Tide with Febreze and Tide with Downy. I like them both. Our clothing smells really nice.
My ds has had some problems with ezcema too and I use Purex Free and Clear, All Free and Clear or Arm & Hammer Perfume and Dye Free. I haven't had any problems and they all seem to work fine cleaning the clothes. Whenever I'm needing detergent, I typically buy which ever one of these three is on sale.
I get the big bucket of liquid Kirkland (store-brand for Costco) free & clear. Originally we got the free & clear for dd's eczema, but now I've noticed the perfume of other brands really bothers me. It's fairly inexpensive, and the jug lasts us forever. It'll feel empty, but if you tilt the jug towards the spout, I can get another few weeks of detergent out of it.
