Quilting club members - up for a challenge anyone?
Okay ladies, I really don't need anymore work to do, but I seen this at another site and thought - heh, it would be fun for our quilters here and really get them to stretch their imagination.
Here is what they did. They took a song and then created a quilt or wall hanging relating to that song.
Here is my challenge I have for you. Remember, its all in fun and it should be neat to see what everyone comes up with.
~It can be done in any size.
~its a Christmas theme (gives you all a chance to work with Christmas material and colors), so it must have some Christmas colors and Christmas material in the design.
~it can be done anyway you want but you must create your own design, whether its applique, blocks, strips, etc. Use your creativity.
~it should be done by Dec. 25th
~all those who finish the top and post a picture will receive a fq from me.
~it MUST relate to this song. Are you ready for the song? Here is goes:
Jingle Bell Rock
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowing and blowing up bushels of fun
Now the jingle hop has begun
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time
Dancing and prancing in Jingle Bell Square
In the frosty air
What a bright time
it's the right time
To rock the night away
Jingle bell time is a swell time
To go gliding in a one-horse sleigh
Giddy-up jingle horse
pick up your feet
Jingle around the clock
Mix and a-mingle in the jingling beat
That's the jingle bell
That's the jingle bell
That's the jingle bell rock
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowing and blowing up bushels of fun
Now the jingle bell hop has begun
Okay, are you in? Remember its all in fun. Its all about creativity!!!!!

This one will really be a challenge but count me in.
I've never appliqued before or even thought of designing a block before but I'm up for it. I've got the quilting fever, lol.
I don't have any Christmas material so it will be fun to go and find some.
I've already come up with 6 different block ideas so I need to go get the drawing book and figure out how to do it.

I'd love to participate but I am zero where it comes to original ideas. I am not creative at all.

Kay, neither am I. Thats what the challenge is for, to bring out some of our creativity. Its just for fun - you might find once you start your creative juices will flow. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Since I don't draw very well, I used some coloring book pictures and revised them to fit what I wanted. Is that cheating? I really did come up with the ideas for the blocks first and then I went searching for the thing that I wanted. But some of them I did all by myself.
I now have 6 block patterns and dh helped me arrange them so they fit the song.He said I had them "out of order" lol.
Also, is it ok if I do some embroidery on a couple of my blocks?
I don't have any Chrismas fabric so I will just go buy 1/2 yard of several that Walmart has in stock.

Carolyn, definitely okay. I can't wait to see it.
I've been thinking on mine too and will be working extra hard this week to get it on paper. I don't draw well either so it should be interesting.

Thanks CJ. I'm having so much fun doing this. It really beats the heck out of housework.
No one bothers me either cause they know "Mom's quilting", hehehe.
