here is a Challenge for us!
I had a lightbulb moment reading everyone posts about the sewing challenge!!
why don't we have a challenge to use up as much of our current stash as we can!! without buying any more!
I took part in a challenge like this in October and got so much stuff done! I managed to thin my stash from 4 suitcases and 2 garbage bags to 4 suitcases....LOL

I play a game called the Stash game on another site...they're planning to do it in February or March. I want to do it in both places.
When were you thinking of doing it?

What if you have need to thin your stash from two rooms down to one?

I have my stash everywhere. bits and pieces here and there. the main stuff is in the suitcases but the other stuff is in bags in corners. oh and I just remembered that I have 2 bins under the bench in my kitchen......
when you htink about it kinda scary!!!
but then a lot of my stash is from dh Grandmother who passed and left me a ton of fabric (I am the only actual sewer - the others are hoarders and would never use the stuff) most if old lady polyester in bright colours. I have been making halloween costumes for my girls.
maybeI will actually have the halloween costumes done before the acutal day!!! woohoo

I'm in too. Was just talking to someone yesterday in regards to all the material we had.
I wonder how Dee would manage this challenge?

Well I don't have as much stash as you all, but I'm in. In fact, sometimes I even send fabric to friends who sew in "care packages" instead of using bubble wrap.
helps reduce the evidence of my fabric splurges!

Christine, so I'm assuming here we purchase no more material until our stashes are used up - is that right?
Does that mean no more fat quarters as well?
Dee, this is going to be interesting. Your going to be doing lots of sewing!!!!!!!

OMG!!!! no new fabric till the stash is used up????? I took part in something one time where you got 2 points for any item made with stash and lost a point for every new piece of fabric, and everyone posted pics to see stash projects. I love sew and shows. Winner got 2 FQ from every other person in contest.

Some of the fabric I have are so old that the kids are too big for them - I have been giving it away to people with younger kiddos!!I have two 8 foot tall cabinets and 6 25 gal. bins full of fabric plus some other stashes that I haven't revealed to anyone cuz I sneaked those into the house - I'm a fabaholic...
So I will definately be in on this challenge but I can't start until my personal house challenge is complete - Jan 31. I would be to guilty if I started sewing before then...

the way my other site did it was for 1 month you sew as much as you could to use up the most. we all posted what we had done and how much yardage was won.
at the end of the month the winner got a prize. I don't remember what exactly it was but I think gift certificate from an online sewing store.
could jsut be a fun challenge with no prize...
who knows.
I am in serious need of some stash removal! I also use cloth to wrap things in. lol

I mean I know I could sew for a couple of years with my stash, but that just isn't fair!
I like the idea of a point system too!
CJ, how will you live without any new FQ's?

its hard I know!! I am a compulsive fabric buyer - mostly the remnants.
I am glad that the nearest fabric store is far away from me! only 20 minutes but I really have to justify the trip cause gas is $$$. but there is a walmart up the hill from me! but working there is a girl I went to cooking school with (lets just say that she made my life a living h#$$). good incentive to stay out!!
I have gotten motivated now!!
broken down and started sewing stuff out of flannel that I intended to make diapers out of. nighties. lol
