    Default How about a challenge???

Okay, I have determined that not only do I like to craft, I love collecting crafting supplies. Currently I am into acquiring yarn. I need to stop, and was thinking maybe there were others out there like me, who could crochet or knit or craft for a long time without ever buying anything new. So.....how about, starting May 1, we try to use up the stashes?

    Anyone game?

(I hope it is okay to post a challenge- if not feel free to delete)

This is a good challenge for me. I've got a problem too with buying craft supplies I really don't need. And I'm a yarn 'junkie' also - I love yarn; all the colors and textures... I did recently use up alot of scraps for a granny square afghan - I just needed to buy some black yarn for the edging (although it doesn't even look like I put a dent in my supply) - So I'm up for this challenge -
Gardening season is here too, so that will help to keep me out of the craft stores too - although I do like garden crafts too ...argghh

Cheryl, great challenge. (btw - anyone can start a challenge here)

I'm in for quilting material. I have enough to last probably until 2010 and beyond!!!! Its ridiculous how much material I have.

How long does this challenge last - until the end of 2005???

Oh CJ! I was just hoping to make it through May! LOL! How about we take it one month at a time? My friend who has given me tons of fabric since she is downsizing often says she could sew everyday from now until she dies and never buy another piece of fabric. I have boxes with yarn in it! Scrapbooking supplies by the ton - it is a crime - so we can set the long term goal for then end of 2005 and go month by month?

    I'm proud of myself -
yesterday I went to Walmart and didn't buy any craft items - I did take a look at the fabric rack but resisted
The fact that I had my kids and my mom with me and we had a limitted amount of time to shop helped, but still, I did good

All winter I have pretty much been working out of my yarn stash and when I made my sis's hats, all the fabric was out of my stash.

i will join this challenge. i have a ton of yarn to get through. though if i get around to doing more scrapbooking this month, i may have to buy somethings for that, though it would only be stickers for embellishment. i don't have much by way of stickers. but they way things are going for me, i won't get to scrapbooking for a couple of months anyway

i have been good about yarn though. i am ripping out a blanket i started for ds and am reworking it to make better use of the yarn for his blanket.

Cheryl you did say this starts May 1st right. I need to pick up as much yarn as I can before that.

Today is May 6th, almost one week for this challenge. How is everyone doing?

I haven't purchased any new material. Thats a first - one whole week and no new material.

I haven't purchased any yarn although I'm getting close to needing more white.

I've been good - actually some of the stuff I ordered before May 1st has come, but I haven't actually bought any new yarn.

Ooops, I forgot all about it!

Between yesterday and today I bought, interfacing, embroidery thread, and some (4) remnants. Oh and 2 skiens of cotton thread.

I promise, I'll do much better next week, I don't plan on going anywhere, just gonna play with my new machine!
