The Walking Dead on AMC
Oooooh!
All you zombie freaks, listen up!
Last night, AMC premiered The Walking Dead. Now, one of my favorite parts of the horror genre has to be the zombie sub-genre. I do admit that I like a good possession or two, but zombies have to be my favorite (next to other aspects of the genre that I can't name here - but not including anything within the Saw series).
I have to say that this is my new favorite show, next to True Blood.
Did anyone else watch last night? They ran it all night after the premiere, so it was good to watch after having the kids put to bed.

I DVR'd it last night -- will be watching it tonight.
I was a little worried that it would not be good but now I will watch it with an open mind ( I still may nitpick too )

I really liked it and I am not usually a zombie fan!

So last night's episode was pretty good. Although, some people and I have some problems with small parts of the show... it was good all around.
The only major problem is that it was only an hour long.

And by some people, are you referring to me? Haha.
I like the show. I like the way it's focusing on the survivor aspect-the foraging for food, the banding together of people who obviously dislike one another.
I am just not happy with the stupidity of some of the characters. "Hey look, I found a fire ax! Not only can I ward off the undead but I could cut up wood to build a fire! Oh wait, not I've hopped a fence and will abandon my ax."
They don't think very far through. There are also some technical errors. The grenade was a replica of a training grenade, not a live grenade. In the opening episode, there were SO many things wrong with the chase and shoot-out, it was unreal.

Did you notice he didn't even use the grenade? I mean, if zombies are drawn to noise then he could have thrown it out of the back of the truck as it was scurrying off with the four people in it.
I found it funny that the Asian guy took off with the car. I wonder if he'll be back.
Yeah, the weapons thing bugs me. Why wouldn't they grab all of the stuff in that bag that was on the roof too?

I did notice that with the grenade thing. Ding-dongs. I also noticed that when he was using the radio to tell the Asian kid what weaponry he had that he didn't mention the gun he had strapped in his thigh holster.
Another thing--they sent two people down into a dark, unlit, sewer tunnel. NO WEAPON. Not even the previously used baseball bats.
And speaking of the weapons they dropped, why not at least toss the handcuffed racist the hacksaw after the key was lost? Originally, I thought he locked the door to keep the racist from coming after him, but now that I am thinking about it, do you think he did it to keep the undead from getting to him?

I'm not much of a character development type of person, so last week's episode was sort of meh. I did enjoy the crossbow action, though
Last night, however, was so awesome! Zombies coming out of every part of that camp and swarming the living was probably the best part. The one thing that bugged me, though, is why did they waste 20 minutes with the two groups of people fighting over the bag of guns? Wouldn't they want to work together?!
Bleh.
Anyways, I'm really really looking forward to next week. I'm sad there's only two more episodes. What am I going to watch after it's done? True Blood doesn't start until the summer.

I like it because it has zombies, but it is pretty shallow and full of holes. I have to yell at these people A LOT, but they still keep acting stupid

I'm sad I have missed this - just now I've been seeing the commercial that the series has 3 episodes left
Only found out about it b/c DF has been holed up here with me watching tv 24/7 and all types of channels he normally wouldn't watch...AMC being one of them. He's not a big tv guy to start with either so this makes it really odd for me to see

I didn't watch this & not making fun of you but am reading and laughing. Quasi serious discussion about zombies is just tickling my funny bone. Last zombie movie I remember was one with zombies in a mall. Oh ya, Dawn of the Dead.
Enjoy the zombie madness.
