LL- Sorry about what happened while visiting... Here's one that happened to us...One Christmas, when DH and I were dating, we visited my brother's house and one of his kids was sick. Within hours, my BF was vomiting. I had chickenpox and didn't know it and my sis came home from the Air Force for the holiday.. Two weeks later, she came back home with pox. Yeah, lots of cheer being spread that year...
It was a nice Christmas and I got slippers and pants from DH. I've always taught the kids to exchange with each other from the time they were little. I'd give each $10 and we would go to Toys R Us. I would take one kid and DH took the other and we used our cell phones to talk and make sure we stayed away from each other so the kids didn't know what was going to be purchased...I see that Toys R Us is making a comeback and has a store in NJ now....Cool.

LL, ugh, lice.
ru, I don't think anyone is going to be able to top your Christmas story!
Going on a hike with nephews wife and kids. Love spending time with them and being out in nature. It's already in the upper 40's so another nice day. Later on going to see my girlfriend. I am enjoying the time off work and refuse to spend it doing any kind of cleaning in my house. That can wait until later. :)

Top the Christmas story.... one Christmas Eve there at hubby's big family dinner his uncle started choking on a piece of food. Hubby's cousin was a EMT and cousin's wife was a nurse. Anyway chairs went flying as they rushed to get behind him and do the Heimlich maneuver which worked and uncle was fine. However several little kids in the room run away crying and refuse to come back to finish eating. Next morning sis-in-law uses the upstairs toilet and a pipe decides to break and comes flooding thru the kitchen ceiling......fortunately Christmas dinner was at a different house.

Forgot to say I am going to JoAnn today. Remembered I will try to replace a separating zipper on hubby's fleece and need to buy one. Yarn on sale also. I am still researching odd bits of silver so I can fill this box to send to replacements.com. Yesterday I found a few pieces of flatware they will buy. All this random stuff - it is very time-consuming since I don't know the patterns.

Cold and grey today. Winter storm expected over the weekend, probably just rain and sleet but may be some snow Sunday. Going to run out today for milk, cat food, and DH's sweetener. Checked last night and we have enough food and vegetables for next week.
Friends have tickets to a comedy club tonight and invited us to go. Should be entertaining. It's the later performance, so we will have dinner at home first.

Yep lice sucks but with being exposed for less than 24 hours I doubt we have eggs. Olive oil is great at killing the adults and the bonus is how much softer your hair is. lol My daughter is treating my GDs hair and combing it out and IF it works and she gets it cleaned up we'll have my GD for a couple of days. I hope it works!!
today is going to be a low key day as I go back to work on Monday. I'm not sure where this past week off work has gone but I feel like I've accomplished nothing.
No drive, no spend, still in my jammies kind of a day. Piddling around the house "cleaning up" and plan on spending a large chunk of my time in the sewing room.

Was just able to sell some old Lightning McQueen toys of DS8's for $5. Not a ton, but after Christmas, I have a feeling no one is looking to spend much on anything. I am trying to pare down and bring in a little at a time. So, baby steps.

Christmas story....one Christmas eve our gas kept going off (heat). It was really cold that year....Husband would go up in attic and light it and it wouldn't stay lit....gas company came out and turned off gas and told us they be back Dec. 26th to put in new meter......so no heat and no way to cook.....our neighbors had gone to Florida and for the very first time, they left their key with us....we took all our gifts over there, slept in their living room and had Christmas in their home...I had no way to get ahold of them so I really felt like an intruder..... they were fine with it and we all laughed about it after it was over but it was not a fun time....son got a kitten that year and the kitten slipped from his hands when he was closing the car door and the poor kitten didn't have a chance...it was horrible.....

Wow, lots of holiday tales that we remember but wished we didn't.....Good times....
Didn't do much today. The gym and work. DH wants to go to Costco and we will see the new Star Wars movie. I enjoy going despite the costs of the food. It's still a good time and we only go a few times a year.
DH wanted to chat about taking a short trip. Said he isn't getting any younger and when I said that I don't have the money to go, he stated very matter-of-factly that he wants to go and will be getting a tax refund this year. I would still need to see if I can get the time off and if so, airfares are pretty cheap in Feb/Mar. I would hate to get the tix and then not be approved to go from my job....The tickets must be purchased by Monday and my job won't give approval until February....So, issue there for sure. My guess is the trip would be pricey since it's Disney.

Made turkey chili, corn muffins and turkey meatballs last night. I'll make sweet&sour sauce on NYE for the meatballs. Already bought cheese & crackers. Just need a salad or veggies & dip. Local national park has a "First Day" hike on Jan 1 that I plan to do w/ dog. So I do want a good night's sleep before that. Have black-eyed peas and a ham slice to make for Jan 1 although hubby won't eat the peas. The floor needs mopping here at dad's, and some dusting.

Warm and wet this morning. Big storm hasn't arrived yet, just some light rain. No plans today.
Rujerro, hope you're able to come to some arrangement about the trip. There are ways to do Disney without spending a ton of money (lot of blogs and websites devoted to it) but, yikes, having to buy tickets by Monday is crazy!
We had leftover thanksgiving turkey et al. last night, going to see what else can be used up today. May be time to make a big pot of soup.

Had to put down my black lab this morning. DH and DS took him. We buried him under his favorite fig bush in the back yard. My heart hurts and it’s been tough without my mom. One DS gave me a copy of one of my mother’s recipes blown up on canvas and framed. He also gave me a laundry sign that I tried to buy from mutual friend. He bought it instead and gave it to me. Also got robot vacuum and an echo. Pretty high tech for me. Really enjoyed my family this year. I’m dreading going into 2020. My depression is kicking up again.

my sympathies about your lab. so hard to lose a loved pet. wow definitely some stories. we have had interesting things like that but not on xmas. have been talked about for not going to xmas because ds was sick..unlike my sil don't share bugs with people. so dh and dd had gone to her place that year.
chicken to go to crows. bread to raccoons and seagulls. making a dessert called sex in a pan.. because it is that good lol but easy too and feeds a lot. don't know how many people are coming and what times for the open house but shopped and have plenty in the house. need to get kids up and clean the last bits of house. have been stocking up on frozen appies over the weeks. of course putting lots of things in the bedroom lol like my basket of yarn that sits beside me.

So sorry GB. I don't have to tell you to stay busy cause I think you do.....I think if you need to cry and scream...do it....don't hold it in.....I find I get depressed around the holidays but usually able to shake it but reminding myself I am blessed. Glad you enjoyed your Christmas....think positive.....2020 is going to be a good year...…
My neighbor is here cleaning....she loves to clean and comes over once every three months or so and does my house for me....I really appreciate it.....In return I give her a ton of cleaning supplies since she won't take money. She also made me tamales, which I love...husband not so much.....
My husband niece's son is home for the marines and she is having a get together later today and we will stop in. Not crazy about this bunch so won't stay long.....hopefully they will have something good to eat or we will stop and grab something on the way home.
Tomorrow I will hit Target and DG to see what deals they have....not that I need anything....
I finally got my amazon gc from doing the test drive so going to get pencil and pens for my OCC pencil packs....
I'm going to be better organized in 2020.....

GB-So sorry about your pet. We did the same for one of our cats when I lived at home.
Peg-That's nice that your neighbor comes over to clean. And tamales too. I've never had them , but they sound good. I hope the party ends up going better than you expected.
I didn't think we would get much snow and we did. I'd say 4-5" now. DH said he will shovel (I did the last storm and it was a doozy) and go to Costco. DS2 doesn't want to travel with DH today and DH always likes someone to go with him.
