Met my daughter in the middle to do a grandchild exchange, she's 8 and I get her until Wednesday. We live over 2 hours apart and I get the longer part of the drive but we meet at the salvage grocery store so that makes up for the extra driving.
I spent $30. Bought 4 half gallons of bleach, $0.89 each, 5# bag of shredded mozzarella cheese for $12. Bought the GD a 5# bag of chicken nuggets she will only eat them with buffalo sauce, they didn't have any so I made my own for the first tim. (50/50 hot sauce and butter. Melt the butter, remove from heat, add hot sauce, whisk together and you are done. Super Simple!) 4 boxes of organic granola for $1 each. This will be great in yogurt! Bought some cabbage $0.29/pound and salt $0.50.
Stopped by the feed store to get rabbit food and the owner said he didn't have nay because he sold the business and the new owner is moving it to s different location. Guess the rabbits better learn to eat another brand because I'm not going to be able to get the one they like any more. We have tried 3 different kinds since we moved 18 months ago and they won't eat any of them.

We had a quiet day at home watching it rain. DH and I did some cleaning this morning, a few boxes to get recycled and an extra bag of trash for next week. I want to go through the garage tomorrow.
Made chicken tortilla soup for dinner. It's a pantry staple. Have a bunch of canned tomato getting near its end use date, frozen leftover chicken, frozen corn, etc. Served over leftover rice. Good on a wet day. Found some frozen cookie dough hiding behind stuff, so we had cookies for dessert.
Sounds like some good deals, LL. Hope you find something your rabbits will eat. Will the new store owner order your brand for you?
Looks like the rain and snow are spreading across the country. Everyone stay warm and dry.

LL- Those are great deals.
CH- I always wanted to make chicken tortilla soup. It sounds easy.
Yup, it's snowed a lot and my car is in the driveway since it may/may not run. I have to take it to the garage this week and I'll call AAA if I can't get it to go. Let them tow it...A friend wants to meet for lunch and I told her I'd get back to her since I don't have any wheels.
We saw the new Star Wars movie and it was ok. Predictable for the most part but worth the $7.50/ticket. DH wanted popcorn but changed his mind when he saw the price for a small bag was $8 ! He ended up coming home and popped some after the movie. I was walking in the hall and found a gift card on the floor. I brought it home and found out it had $16.60 on it. DH can get 2 bags of popcorn with it next time....

GB I am sorry you will be missing your dog.
RJ - lucky find. We got a movie GC but I don't know what movie I would like to see, have not been following the ads at all.
Supposed to start raining today and end tomorrow. Rest of the week should be rather mild also so 2 weeks of lower utility bills. :smile2: I will try to get some sewing done including new zipper in hubby's fleece jacket.

CH - not sure if the new owner will or not. It's 1.5 hours away and when we are in the area we stop by and stock up. Hopefully we can find something closer or maybe we can order it online. Love Chicken Tortilla soup but haven't made it in years.
Made more pancake mix for breakfast this morning, fed the chickens scraps, no eggs to gather yet this morning. The short plan for the day is making beef stew, thawing hamburgers, cleaning around the house and spending time with my GD. I go back to work tomorrow. Don't know where the 10 days off work went.

Thanks everyone. DH got me out of the house yesterday. I slept really late this morning. No reason to have to get up. I need to clean the house, but no energy.

I'm so sorry about your doggy, GB. We've been through that more times than I like to think about and it's always a trauma.

Ru, if you like it then you should make it. I think it is very easy, dump in the cans of broth and tomato, frozen veg, leftover chicken and let it simmer. You can make it spicy or not. I add stuff, more cumin, zucchini, sweet peppers, black beans, sometimes rice like we did last night. And leftovers keep well in the freezer.
We don't have plans for today. It was sunny for a few minutes but it is clouding up and the prediction is for more weather later.
Got leftover rib roast for dinner. Will make some more potatoes and see what vegetable DH wants with it.

I listed 20 books on FB garage sale boards for $5 and they sold within a few minutes, so I'm happy about that. Money in, no matter how little, is always a good thing.
GB...I am so sorry about your dog.

rujerro the party was better then expected.....they had margaritas....LOL....
I never had tamales either till I moved to Texas....they take a ton of work to make from what I hear so I really appreciate them...don't know how my neighbor does it....she works so hard....I really appreciate her coming over to help me as I'm not as young as I use to be and can't get around and push the vacuum like I use to.....she is a blessing for sure....my husband helps her out a lot with things she needs done around the house as her husband left many years ago....not a great guy so it's okay...she is better off without him.....
It's in the 60's here today....yesterday was high 90's....getting ready to hit Target and Krogers…..

let yourself mourn ..losing a pet is hard. we have a pet graveyard in the back corner of the yard birds and cats. grey again and rain so normal. would like some snow just for effect. wasn't as many people at the open house but we had nice visits with everyone. dh said it was too long of time to have open house but it is over. kids had fun. so no cooking etc today leftovers. lots of food here. slept late and we aren't planning on much. body is sore for some reason.
have dvds and tv to watch so no reason to be movitated. working tomorrow. forgot sat to get dry cat food so someone has to go to the store for that since bag is empty. ran dishwasher before bed so no dishes. dh is trying to get movitated as he bought dd a new mattress a few days ago and the old one is in his office. to go to the dump.

AmyBoz - congrats on selling books.
We planted a lot of seeds today in plastic containers that I've saved over the years. 18 different seeds, 108 seeds in total. All of the seeds were leftovers from prior years, given to me or I saved from the garden. We planted new things like acorn squash that we have never eaten before. We figured the seeds were free and if we don't like them the chickens will.
I cut up a bath towel that had worn a hole in the middle and turned it into 4 hand towels.
Lunch is packed for work tomorrow.

I’m making myself get out and work at the soup kitchen. DH is back at work and will be working late. Going to have grilled cheese sandwiches and leftover beef stew for dinner. Trying to use up before making more. I have a lot of books to get rid of,so I’m going to try selling on the garage sale site, too.

Had a dusting of snow last night. Lot of wind and it is supposed to be cold and blowy all week. Was considering checking the drugstore for marked down candy, but realize I still have candy in the freezer from previous years. Might go out for the breakfast sale, free eggs and OJ with 3 cans of biscuits, all of which will get eaten.
Chili or pot pie for dinner, will see which one DH picks (probably chili).
Tomorrow is trash day, so need to make another pass through the house and garage.
Our NYE feast is going to be whatever I can find around the house. There's a lot to choose from.

I just listed some more toys on the FB garage sale boards. I listed them each for $5, because I want them to go. I'll be happy if I can get that for them and it clears out a little more space in our house.
Chili for dinner tonight. It's already in the crockpot and making the house smell amazing. :)
