that is good news that everything is ok and hubby is cleared for work. not frugal been at grocery store a couple of times. went to states to get package from thinkgeek except they shipped in 3 boxes so got hit with 3 pickup fees from mailbox place. and they all could have been in the same box if they hadn't used big pillow air packaging.. tshirts and bags etc don't break ..at least everything was on really good sale. scored cheap shredded cheese there too. so stocked up on cheese now. got uniform too and dd's too get money back on mine. mom needed a ride so ended up at safeway and got a bunch of marked down meat marinated chicken thighs and pork steaks so bbq tonight.

ds is grumpy all weekend esp cus mom knows him.. we left and his friends called him online so he didn't finish the job in the bathroom. kids moved a pile of bricks yesterday 20min job and the boys are scraping and cleaning off the mold in the bathroom after years of it. paint is all really cracked and peeling plus the mold so doesn't look good at all. need to get proper paint for it too. think the previous owners painted the wrong paint over the oil paint. they did that a lot in the house.

long weekend here and sunny. lots of people doing spring chores if they didn't go away. got something sorted that was a stressor.. administration error so never would have been uncovered if I hadn't been chasing it. dh is fixing his moms tv fine tuning the senior remote. the cable box keeps doing things.

It's been raining for 18 hours and shows no sign of stopping. We are ok here, others are not so lucky. Overall the damage seems minimal. https://www.kctv5.com/news/trees-fal...d99e31493.html This week is the anniversary of two major tornadoes that killed many people in MO, so we are all aware it could be much much worse.

I have a doctor visit downtown today, hoping the weather keeps people off the roads. Also hoping I don't have to drive through any water. The area around the hospital is prone to flooding. They'll have anything dangerous closed off, of course.

Sandwiches and salad for dinner tonight. My sandwich rolls are turning green. I got out the sourdough starter and am going to try making bread this afternoon.

Had to go to a volunteer meeting today so decided to do some of the shopping I usually avoid. Got some batteries at Dollar Tree, used to get 8 in a package, now you get 6.

Got some corn chips and hummus, trying to get away from sweet snacks. Bought gas, it keeps going up. $2.63/gal. Got a nice flow blue plate at the thrift store, $3.

I had a $25 gift card to Kmart. Place was like a ghost town. I don't know how they stay open. Went to look at shoes, they are almost all in boxes. I wasn't about to pull out every box to find what I want.

Went to Kohl's and JCPenney, looking for a bra. No one has anything in a cup size larger than DDD. My favorite bra is a 38G. I am not a particularly large person, I see a lot of people bigger than me, I don't know where they buy bras. Of course I see a lot of people with ill-fitting bras.

I've given up on places like Kmart and Penny's. They carry clothing in common sizes and have little or nothing for those of us who are taller, shorter, wider, etc. than "average". Kohl's has a horrible selection of shoes, nothing larger in women's than a 9.5, no wide sizes at all. Target is not much better, I walked out of there last month empty handed. Last time I needed a bra I went to a lingerie shop. Yeah, I paid a little more but it fits perfectly and is better quality, doesn't pinch or sag, or fall apart in the wash.

yes stores are bad for sizing.. I am curvy but not so much overweight avon I am 1x. walmart 4 or 5 x now. bought a uniform top this weekend 6xl! like really...for uniforms should use better brands. even if I lose weight I am still a 42 dd which is 2xl the 42 is not going down. went to the kmart in bellingham when closing.. wow more expensive then home or other stores.

stopped raining now but turned on the heat because it was cold and damp this morning. made it to fitness class. guides tonight. all about rocks specialists coming in. there is leftovers and making easy meal frozen burritos with spaghetti sauce and cheese. been using the oven to warm the house the last couple of days. apple pie frozen seafood lasagna etc. of course housework, laundry... need to do a good vacuum and mopping. got the boys to clean the mold and cracked paint in the bathroom. bought oil paint for it plus a pot of cream coloured for kitchen too see if I like it.

I am thankful I am small on top, can get away with buying cheap bras. I can't believe what people have to pay for a good bra. My biggest issue is finding ones without underwire. I don't think we have any Kmart stores left here, I just heard this morning that Kohl's and JC Penney are not doing so well either. I had a migraine yesterday from 3am till 9pm. Went to work but came right home and went to bed. Ugh, I hadn't had any for a couple of years and now I think I had two already this year. Very disappointment about our weather, my heat is still running (at 67 degrees) and it's May 22!! I love the hot weather and have heard that our June is predicted to be a little cooler than average too. I am counting down the years until retirement when we can move somewhere warmer. I have some meatless crumbles to use up so will make crockpot lasagna today for dinner.

Rabbit, if you make a small slit at the end of an underwire, you can pull out the wire if you find a bra you like otherwise. Hate those things. I've done that a few times and it seems to work okay. I also hate padded bras but can't figure out how to fix that.

The heat is still on here, too, although we did shut it off in the cabin since it won't freeze anymore.

Figuring out a few things for the camper after our trip last weekend. We concluded we like the bed expansion I did last year, but it messed up the rest of how the trailer functions. Badly! We're going back to having 2 beds and no dinette. That worked well for 6 years except for not having a dinette. That was pretty much the only negative, unlike the big bed. But we are now able to reinstall the folding shelves we had to remove to make room for a bigger bed, so we can use those again instead of the dinette, and can also sit at the end of a cabinet. Husby always liked that spot but it doesn't have good lighting. We talked about buying a new desk lamp for that space but then I realized we could use one of the hanging fan/lights already in the camper. No cost or extra storage needed. I just need to put a bigger hook on the light, which I already have. I'm undoing the bed makeover and redoing all the bedding to fit 2 beds, using the bedding I have, so no cost for that. Also redoing things that had to be removed and undone due to the big bed. Good thing I saved all that stuff.

I'm doing other things with the camper, too, most of which will be low or no cost. Gotta save every dollar we can for gas and campsite fees. 🙂😎

I take the underwires out too. It is a little fiddly but makes the bra usable again.
I have 1 refill left on a medication but the insurance changed and new insurer said I need to go back to Dr. for a new scrip. So I called the old place to see how much if I just paid the full price (this is for a generic cholesterol drug). The full price w/ no insurance was $400+!!! So I guess I'll be going back to the Dr. for a new prescription.

I ended up getting wendys on the way home from meeting. dh is off today since we were suppose to go away for the weekend but plans changed. I am off to scout training camp this weekend so they can fend for themselves. so paperwork have to pack etc.

    need milk etc too.

Fighting with the trash service that leaves my yard waste in the street for weeks. I requested $10/day bill credit (asked for $50) was told I would receive $10.70 credit for the WEEK - for 10 bags + several cans of yard waste sitting in the street for a week. I contacted the county, they are supposed to assign a case # and inspector (mandatory yard waste pickup weekly here.) I think I will casually ask if this attacts vermin..... Expecting guests Monday - this is what they will see....2019 Frugal Challenge-img_0951-small.jpg

Heard today that our weather this weekend is not supposed to be good. Rain every day with severe storms mixed in. So much for my favorite weekend of the year. I'm sure come Tuesday the weather will be great, just in time to go back to work. I saw lots of campers heading to the thumb (of Michigan) today, it's such a big weekend for camping. We are staying home and having the boys over for a Sharknado sleepover. We were planning on having a BBQ on Monday but will have to see about the weather.

dlrcpa, do they pick up your regular trash but leave the yard waste? Ugh, how frustrating. I had to call our Township Hall once years ago about my trash that had not been picked up. It was picked up the next day and haven't had a problem since. Hope your trash problem is resolved quickly.

I can't remember a Memorial Day weekend when it didn't rain. I started keeping track in the late 80's. Mind you, that only applies to where I'm living (or had lived at the time). There were even a few where it snowed. This weekend won't disappoint, I can hear the thunder already. Last year we were out of town, and it rained there. Don't invite me to your picnic.

Do they have separate trucks for yard waste? Here they only pick up certain times of the year, or after bad storms. I think we missed our spring pick up. We burn, mulch or compost most everything, though.

Really pissed to hear the disaster relief bill got tabled in Congress today. So many people burned or flooded out of their homes and businesses this year. And Florida is about to enter hurricane season.

Separate MANDATED waste pickup weekly here. The county mulches it up and puts public-access mulch piles around. That is why I filed the complaint w/ the county, hoping they hand trash co a nice fine. Trash pickup OK because the name of the company is on the side of the can. My house is the ONLY one on the street w/ bags of [email protected] sitting at the curb in front. Looks worse now because bags are wet/ripping/spilling. Our guests are coming Monday. Hubby seems oblivious and cannot understand why I am so upset.

    Taking care of dad today.

Yesterday didn't go as planned. I got in the car to go out, car wouldn't start. Called the roadside assistance from my insurance, they came and jump started the car. Then I drove it to my mechanic (18 miles) and he tested the battery, it was good. First thing he asked, do I have a car cell phone charger plugged in? Yes, I did. He said if you leave it plugged in all the time it can go bad and drain the battery. I never knew that. So I unplugged it. This morning it started right up!! Just passing on this tip.

Didn't have to spend any money, just a lot of time and driving. Didn't have to spend $160+ on a new battery.
