Back to routine after having Gdaughter visit for 3 weeks. Yesterday was a hard day missing her and my mother. I’m going back to my 3 mile walks today with my neighbor. Today is DHs birthday. We celebrated on Saturday since I will be at rehearsals tonight. Got to work on my blocking for tonight’s rehearsal. Not doing much else since it’s going to be another hot day.

new frugal tip for cleaning my shower curtains - cast-iron old tub so curtains all around. They are clear plastic and the hard water makes them look cloudy. So I spray them with vinegar, a few minutes before I get in, then let the water rinse it off.

LL- Sounds like a wonderful harvest for your sauce.

Had the MD appt today. Went ok as things are getting better with my bloodwork. Once my surgery takes place, my kidneys should get better and my blood pressure, too. Auto immune disease can literally, do major damage to organs. MD felt disablility would be best for me but I know it's a long denial process and a lawyer (with the expense attached) is a big bill to handle. I'll just keep plugging along for now.

I've got cioppino in the crockpot. It's Giada's recipe and the broth will simmer a very long time before the seafood goes in. I didn't have red pepper flakes or fennel, so it will be without those. I may add old bay seasoning if it helps.....

I'm going to bake old bananas and then go weeding in the meantime. I have to get this place ready for the appraiser. Tonight will be dusting/windex the master bathroom and bedroom. I'll be cleaning and purging along the way. It seems like I do this every year or two and actually, I do. I'm not a fan of this refi stuff but DH pays the bills, so I have to help.

Taking dog to the vet Tuesday for his annual check-up.
Thawing chili and beans from the freezer for my lunches, need to make more rice.
I drafted a pattern on tissue paper from an existing simple pullover top and cut out fabric to match an existing skirt. That will use up some fabric and scraps.

Got to get into the garden this morning before it gets hot. I know there are tomatoes to pick, and I have some fall plants to put in. Forgot to water them over the weekend, the broccoli seedlings survived but I think the cabbage didn't. May go for replacements later.

Have a load of donations to drop off.

Everything I need for my christmas present sewing has come in the mail, so I can work on those later.

In-laws are still here, the last day. Not sure what, if anything we are doing this evening. DH and BIL are both very indecisive/non committal and it drives me nuts.

Empanadas and salad for dinner, if we don't go out.

Stayed home to work on the yard some more after taking the dog to the vet. I could see the traffic was awful so not going to waste extra time for a short work day. Donation truck picked up brother's boxes.
I saw one of these butterflies the other day, rather dramatic. I don't recall seeing one before. I noticed a lot of caterpillars in the yard, not sure what kind yet, going to try and figure it out.

took the day off from walking as I am starting to feel a sore muscle in one leg. Very hot, just sitting around all day. Made HM hummus, not as good as the store-bought, not sure why. I did get some stuff listed on Ebay.

I have seen Red Admirals here. They like my lilacs. We also get Viceroys, which look a lot like Monarchs, which we also see at times. Wish I had more blooming right now. The summer flowers came and went so fast.

BIL is coming over for dinner, bringing food. I volunteered to grill it. It is their last evening in town.

I got out to the garden this morning and picked tomatoes and cucumbers but did not get anything planted. Ground is too hard and dry and I did not have time to mess with the hose and sprinkler set up. DH says he will help me later this week.

No yoga class tomorrow, they are having kid's "summer camp" instead, so I can sleep late and go use the walking track.

Had a fun evening with the relatives. Right after I put the pork ribs on the grill the power went out. Wrapped up the frozen vegetables in foil and threw them in the smoker, too. Took a few hours and we used up a lot of wood, but dinner got cooked. Sat on the porch and watched the sun set while we ate. I have to say everyone was impressed with the camp cooking. And, of course, power came back right after we finished.

Jo, was it the texture? The flavor?

GB, hope you got lucky at the casino.

Got a free Target GC and used it to shop online for more cleaning supplies- clear shower liner & duct tape. I got DS2 corn flakes.

Saw a Netflix dvd called " Now You See Me 2." It was good. We didn't see the first one, so I'll see if it's available. I heard the first one was awesome.

I've been deep cleaning and finished the master bath and bedroom. I scoured the baseboards down the hall and refolded the linen closet. I'll work on another bathroom but it's only 1/2 and the baseboards and floor need the work, so it won't take long.

DS2 is waiting for his grade for physics over the summer. The teacher said the students can stop in today at 10:30 am or 4 pm. He wasn't posting grades. I told DS2 to email him and ask if you can stop by another day or have him email you your grade...BesidIes, he HAS to post the grade at some point because the Fall semester starts in 2 weeks! So, you can look at the grade a couple days before school starts, if need be.

I sold some things on ebay and will ship tomorrow. I'll run to Target and try to get in the rock garden and pull weeds/cut down lilac sprouts.

I think I got most of the weeds that were setting seed. Need to buy some mulch. I priced bulk w/ delivery but I think I will buy a few bags at a time instead. Supposed to have thunderstorms today so no outside work. Maybe grocery shop this evening.

If your chickpeas are warm they will puree smoother. So either cook them from dry beans, or warm the canned ones in the microwave.

Little bit of rain today, may try to get into the garden later and see if the ground softened up, or put the hose on it.

DH's car won't start so he is working from home. The battery may be dead. I told him we could try jumping it from my car after the rain stops.

In- laws flying out today, they left us with a bunch of stuff they were using in their hotel room. Paper plates, bottled water, extra food, etc.

Put up 4 more quarts of dill pickles. Today I need to iron, put up bread and butter pickles, weed the herb bed, and maybe sew a little. It’s really hot here, so not much outdoor stuff. Think I will work out in the pool. Hit the grocery stores yesterday. Green grapes 69 cents/ lb., peeled baby carrots 99 cents/ bag, salmon $6.99. / lb. Salmon was large and I cut it up into 6 meals for us. Never that cheap. May have to go back for more for the freezer.
