Used the $5 coupon at Kohl's, found gray washcloth and hand towel to match the ones I bought last time for 19 cents. Also a beige hand towel to get over $5. So 87 cents after $5 off. Went to JoAnn and used 60% coupon on regular price skein of yarn to make hand warmers. Off work tomorrow, need to buy leaf bags and work on the yard. I will probably go to grocery store with coupons also. $10 off $40 at the new Sprouts store, or $15 off $50 at Safeway.

Cold here, but nothing else. The fundraiser dinner last night brought in $2000 worth of food and supplies for two local nonprofits. Today I am cleaning out the bottom cabinets of my sewing room and starting the process of organizing and moving back in. I’ve got to go buy chicken feed, but that’s about it for me today.

Used coupons at the grocery store, got a frozen turkey cheap. I found space in the freezer - barely.
Pretty disgusted w/ the health insurance company, they seem to deny claims just as a matter of course. It depends how much I want to fight over each claim. I sure hope I do not get sick next year.

Gbug, hope your happy with the way your sewing room turned out.

I used to get the Kohl's coupons but don't anymore, I miss getting them, it's the only time I went there. Went to Kroger after work and picked up some of the 3 day deals. I think it's going to be frozen pizza tonight for dinner.

Its cold here and about to get even colder. Tonight is Mid 30s and Tuesday night they are calling for a low of 19.

Today I finally used the pasta extractors I bought last Thanksgiving on sale. I made elbow noodles and spaghetti today with our own eggs. I used the fresh elbow noodles in goolash and they were amazing!!

No drive, no spend day. Well, I put somethings in the Amazon cart and they are still there.

Our food drive competition at work started this week and ends December 1. I spent $200 and purchased over 500 each of oatmeal and grits packets. My department came in second last year and I hope we win this year.

Got some grocery bargains out of town because we had to take old serger back in for service. The third time was the charm. They finally listened to me about something being wrong with the cutters. Tech replaced and realigned the cutter while we waited, saving us a sixth 100 mile round trip. I haven't tried the serger yet but I will be shocked and dismayed if the machine isn't fixed at last, because I've thought all along the cutters were the problem. The machine was still under repair warranty, so no labor charge. We only had to pay for new cutter.

Resisted the urge to buy a stiletto while we waited, just because they were cute. I already own several stilettos and don't need any, so kept my $4.

I bought a second serger a couple weeks ago and set it up on a small table we had. It works and I was optimistic, but it quickly became apparent I would not be happy with it long term. Since we had already had to drive 50 miles to get the serger fixed, we went on to 2 other towns in search of a better table for the new serger. I had searched Pinterest for ideas and had several possible types of desks I thought I could be happy with. We hit 5 thrift stores and spent very little since we don't need much, but had no luck finding a desk of any kind, which seemed odd. We decided to try ReStore as a last resort, and I felt like Goldilocks. The first one was too much work, the second did not have the right drawers and was ugly and cheaply made, but the third was just right. All were the same price, so no decision to be made there, which made things easier. So for $35 I got a solid maple, high quality desk with dovetail drawers that was my first choice of drawer sizes and configuration. I had hoped to spend less, but because of the condition and quality, I feel it was a bargain at that price. All this desk needs is a good cleaning and some scratch remover. I'm very pleased. I will probably add sliding trays to 1 or 2 drawers to maximize storage but that's minor.

We bought cheap gas in another town, and used a 10 cent per gallon discount card on top of the low price.

I bought 3 pieces of flannel for a charity project at JA and worked the system on 2 of them to save a few pennies. Two had one yd plus 25 ", so I got the sale price plus another 50% off for the remnants. It all helps.

All in all, a good day. 🙂

Hard frost last night. It has warmed above freezing now. We worked on leaves and I am going to clean & oil the outside teak bench this afternoon. I bring it inside for the winter but it will need a few more days outside until the smell dissipates. Concert tonight - the guitarist I like.

SD- That desk looks like the one we got from a Craigslist ad. I think we paid $20 but it was 15 years ago.

LL- Good luck on the competition!

DH had to fix the toilet. It will be the third time in 18 years. He needs another day to complete it. It had been making noise for weeks and finally started leaking. So, no more procrastination.

I picked up DS2's bday cake today and a few cards came for him in the mail. He wants to go to a Entertainment building that has bowling, arcade games, food, etc...We got a $50 gift card and it came with a $10 gift card for free. Then, I got 1 hour of arcade games for free by signing up for emails and doing a survey.

I picked up Christmas cards at church and a magnet to put on my car. The church hasn't sold cards in many years as they purchased the cards first and then hoped to sell them to people after Mass. That didn't work out as people may not have liked those designs..This year, they took orders and gave the people what they ordered. That's a much better business policy. They made $350.

Ran to Wags today to pick up Olives for Thanksgiving. Used my points so got 2 green and 2 black for a dollar. Went to Big Lots and spent $50...mostly on food. Did pick up four tablecloths for $3 each. Doing a luncheon for the homeless on the 27th so will use three on food table and I have four brown cloths I purchased few weeks ago for the sit down tables. Will use the fourth one if needed. Yesterday I picked up two turkey breasts on sale for .97 a pound. Total 15 pounds. Will use for the luncheon as we are going to casino on Thanksgiving and will eat there. Found Delmonte beans with potatoes for .39 cents at Krogers in the clearance section. I took all 10 cans.
Had a friend pick up my auction win while I was on vacation and picked it up today from her. Found they gave me a case of small t-shirts instead of mixed sizes. Too late now to do anything about it so will be donating all these shirts to the operation Christmas child to be used in the shoeboxes that come thru with room for something else.....they are really nice t-shirts and the size seems to be on point so I'm a little disappointed but God has a plan for these shirts. Some kids in a third world country will love those shirts. They are all pink and say "morning has been cancelled. Go back to bed."

Enjoyed the concert last night. Hubby asked how old is the performer? I answered "older than me, and he won't be getting any younger so that is why I wanted to go." Acoustic guitar and the sound in the small theater was amazing.

Found out the relatives all accepted for Thanksgiving. I don't mind the adults or gluten-free. I have no idea what to do about the kids, about 3 and 5. Our house is not child-proof, don't have kid chairs, etc. I want to let hubby's sister (the grandma) worry about all this.

Clearing up paperwork today. Oil the outdoor teak bench (cleaned yesterday). Should try to clean a few windows also since company.....

Back from vacation, BRR! Weather was not perfect but it was nicer than here. Got to relax and read a few books. Worked on my tan as much as the sun would allow. Got to spend a couple days at the beach with DH and do some touristy things. DH lost his good heavy flannel shirt on the way down, and his credit card on the way home. Already reported as lost, no fraudulent charges on it.

Got all this food in the freezer, so I made a menu plan for the next ten days, need to go out for fresh milk and green vegs. Big cold front expected tomorrow with possible snow in our area, so it will be hearty food all week.

Dlr, sounds like you will have a large crowd for thanksgiving.

M, Army of Darkness is a lot of fun!

Bookworm, too bad about the shirts, but glad they will go to kids who can use them. You are so generous.

Rujerro, can't believe it is almost the middle of Nov. Got to find the cards I bought last year and figure out how many I am mailing and whether I need more stamps.
Stop trying to organize all of your family’s crap. If organization worked for you, you’d have rocked it by now. It’s time to ditch stuff and de-crapify your world.

If you're not using the stuff in your home, get rid of it. You're not going to start using it more by shoving it into a closet.

Ru, I was hoping to spend less than $35, but due to the quality, condition, and it being exactly what I wanted, the price seems reasonable. I have 4 desks with sewing machines on them, and paid less than $90 for all, so I still feel lucky. 🙂

Quiet day of not spending around here today. Just doing all the usual to save money.

Church is collecting turkeys to give out and since it's too hard for me to get one there during the week we just donated money, hopefully enough to buy 2. Did the usual grocery shopping, got a deal on some yogurt and a little cheesecake, it came in a small glass container so well keep that to use for a small bowl. I always need small bowls. Cleaned up leaves, dh raked them out from around the fence and from around the trees and I mulched on the lawn tractor. I really had to bundle up today, hopefully the trees will be done shedding leaves by next weekend so we will only have to do this one more time. The wheel fell off the deck of the lawn tractor so dh had to fix that, luckily we have spare parts so no money spent. It has been an incredibly dark, dreary day, looks like snow is moving in tonight, 3-5 inches. Tomorrows commute should be fun.
