The ham soup that was made was bland. I added 2 chicken bouillon cubes and DS2 ate all of it. He said it was just ok.... I did make enchiladas as a back-up using leftover turkey and cooked chicken. I didn't have tortillas but had a box of soft tacos and used them in place of tortillas. It worked out, even though they were quite small.

We went to the rental today and had a window person look at the 3 windows as they are wooden and rotted. The one is in such bad shape that anyone trying to manhandle it open or closed will break it off. Luckily, the company offered us 25% off, no interest or payments for 2 years. The price quoted was expensive and the 2019 tax refund will probably go towards this bill. The good news is that if we ever need more windows (and we will), we locked in the discount.

I had some potential renters apply for the rental and visit. I'm finding that when it comes to self-reporting their income, it's greatly exaggerated. The credit check is revealing that they don't have jobs! One person even told me that today.....So, basically, they're lying on the application. DS2 overheard a conversation at college where students were chatting about not being able to afford their rental and will squat in it until physically removed by the police. They claim it takes 3 months and they figure they have 3 months of shelter. That isn't something I want to deal with again, for sure.

Th toilet that DH fixed kept making noise and taking a long time to fill. It even filled when nobody was in there and we could hear it as if it was a phantom flush. DS2 saw a piece of cardboard in the tank that read " remove before using" and voila! Issue resolved..

Very cold again here. Going to do laundry and go to Kroger later. Organizing my closet and finally going to finish organizing my new room. That’s about it for me today.

It's still below freezing and windy today. I ache all over. Staying home, not going to the gym. Will get to dance class tonight, that will be enough.

Always stuff to do in the house.... or maybe I will read. Started a book on vacation, only half way through. Bought 2 craft magazines to read on the plane, have not got completely through those either.

Soup and rolls for dinner. Not sure which one, either lentil/carrot or butternut squash, whichever one I grab out of the freezer first.
Stop trying to organize all of your family’s crap. If organization worked for you, you’d have rocked it by now. It’s time to ditch stuff and de-crapify your world.

If you're not using the stuff in your home, get rid of it. You're not going to start using it more by shoving it into a closet.

Took Dh to get a colonoscopy today, that took all morning. He was starved afterward and since we had some errands to do, stopped at McDonalds for lunch. Picked up some prescriptions and stopped at the resale store. The only thing I found was a tablecloth I wanted but it was hard to tell if it was round or oval. The tag prevented me from opening it up all the way and you have to take it to the registers for the cashiers to take the tag off. The line was a mile long because it was senior day so it wasn't worth it for me to stand in line only to find out it was oval, not round. Came home and got the woodstove going again, it is so cold out. We have 11 inches of snow with leaves all on top. It's like the two seasons collided.

I'm making the bacon-split pea soup tonight finally. I will put thru the blender before adding the bacon back in. Hubby has printed some elaborate recipes for Thanksgiving. I'm thinking the kids will never eat the stuff (wild rice with wild mushrooms for example.) I have decided to just play dumb and let him do whatever he wants. My job to set the table, make salad, maybe dessert.

I was thinking of a table runner and realized I can use 2 wool wraps I made by just putting a machine hem on pieces of red and green wool. I think I will iron and see about attaching some Christmas-type ribbon by hand. Could always hand wash and would only see limited use at holidays.

All my plans have changed today. I’m in a lot of pain, so no cleaning. May repot a plant and shell pecans if up to it. Have to work at the theatre tonight.

Gbug - hope you feel better

I did something to my back yesterday so I'm trying to take it easy today, did have to work but now that I'm home it's pretty much nothing for the rest of the evening. I can only take Tylenol and it's really not cutting it. Got the woodstove going for heat and have LO's for dinner.

Rabbit & GB, hope you're both feeling better soon. Maybe a hot water bottle will help?

Got all kinds of little stuff done today. Bills paid, checks deposited at the bank, gassed up the car, a few groceries purchased, stopped at the PO for christmas stamps, picked up some craft bits to finish holiday gifts. It's a whopping 45F out but feels nice in the sun.

Finalizing the thanksgiving dinner menu. Just DH and I but I want it to be nice. Turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry salad, green veg. Not sure if it will be cherry or pecan pie. Rolls or popovers? Potatoes or whipped cauliflower? Need DH's input.

Pork chops, sweet potatoes, and broccoli for dinner tonight.

Dlr, your table runner idea sounds nice. Red and green will be very cheerful. FWIW, creamy wild rice and mushroom soup is pretty good. If the kids don't eat it, you can convert it.

Rabbit & GB- Wishing you both a speedy recovery! Hoping for good news for Rabbit's DH's testing.
Dlrcpa- the runner sounds very nice.

I paid off the CC and felt great relief since I was concerned I wouldn't be able to do that this month. I do not want to pay 20% in interest! I went to the lab to get blood drawn and told them that the last script was for "standing orders" so I could get the same done today. Of course, they couldn't find the last script electronically or in the filing cabinet... So, I emailed my MD for another script but didn't get a response yet.

I found a few scholarships that DS2 should apply for. He's not the happiest student when it comes to writing essays...But these are pretty big and they're worth doing, IMO. He will need some recommendations and photos of him doing volunteer work (to prevent hunger) for a stronger application.

I hope to make breaded chicken and steamed cauli/brocc/carrots for dinner.

I'll try to get the rest of the soot/oil stains out of the porch since the weather will be nice and in the 60's. I donated a big box of stuff to the Veterans and love that they pick it up at my home. It saves me gas & time.

Sounds like everyone is busy. Feeling better today. My hens finally started laying again. I accidentally threw away my container of buttons I had collected over the years while organizing my sewing room. It really upset me, but I’m dealing with it. Depression is an effect of my stroke. Donating a bag of groceries today and have to go get a document from the courthouse to get a copy of my car title. Tonight DH and I are going to the casino for a game show that they produce. Hope I get called, but not banking on it.

Glad you are feeling better GB. Good luck at the casino!

Ru, good job paying off the CC! Hope you get your script soon. I have to go pick up some pills myself.

Looked over the ads and made a list last night. Going to check the freezer and pantry first. Have a few meal ideas already for next week, using only what we already have. Need the usual cat food, TP, trash bags, etc. A few ingredients for thanksgiving I want to pick up before the stores get crazy.

DH has approved cherry pie, whipped cauliflower, and popovers for thanksgiving. I have never made a cherry pie that didn't come out of a can so this will be a first. I have bags of fruit I picked and pitted this summer.

We are going out tonight, so probably picking up dinner along the way.

I'm staying in today trying to clean up these totes I have sitting around. Shoeboxes and boxes of fillers go to drop off on Tuesday night. That will make a big difference.....was going to take one tote to my friends but she cancelled....so here it sits....daughter is coming over one day next week and will take one tote of fall stuff.....so it's slowly moving on out.....I may be sorry next year when I find I don't have any décor....LOL

peg - for all the car loads of stuff that has left my house, I only really miss one thing. If you just keep the fall décor you really love, then next year you will love how your house is decorated.

CH - I love that even though it's just you and your husband for Thanksgiving, you are really putting in a lot of effort to make it nice. Your husband is a lucky man!

GB - glad your feeling better. Crossing my fingers for you that your name will be called for the game show.

My back is feeling a little better today so I hope after taking it easier this weekend I will be feeling fine. Have been trying to catch up on wash since I got home from work. Making spinach/artichoke mac and cheese for dinner.
