I accidentally hit post and then tried to edit my post but apparently I type too slow as there is a 30 minute time limit.

Been busy this weekend. The water heater stopped heating and I found out the hard way by trying to take a shower. DH wanted to calla repair man or buy a new one and I said no way. I pulled up a youtube video and 30 minutes later I had the water heater fixed. Money well saved!

Friday I planted sunchokes and garlic. I also canned 2 of our roosters with the largest weighing just over 4 pounds. If we don't kill a deer this Friday I will be putting 12 more roosters in jars. 14 roosters is way too many and way too noisy.

Yesterday we went to the grocery store and save-a-lot had turkeys for $0.49/# (half price) if you spent $25. DH and I both spent $40 and both got a turkey. Today I pressure cooked one, deconstructed it and made broth with the bones. I also picked up 6 packs of discount meat (half price) to help us reach the $25 and 2 $1 bags of discount veggies for the rabbits. I then cooked chicken dumplings using discount store celery, from the garden - garlic, carrots, purple sweet potatoes, corn, chicken from one of our birds and an egg in the dumplings. The purple sweet potatoes turned the garlic, celery and gravy purple

Today I made a pumpkin roll, ok, it's really a butternut squash roll because we don't care for pumpkin. I used home grown butternut squash and eggs in it. This is for Thanksgiving and so is the turkey. I'm trying to do some prep work so I can enjoy they day with my family.

Doubt I'll be back on before Thursday - Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

    Goodness, LL, you are busy.

M, don't know how you keep up with all that running around with teenagers.

I'm just trying to figure out why my pantry is so full. Let's see, 5 boxes of cookies (3 open), 2 open bags tortilla chips, 2 open boxes wheat thins, 2 open bags of pita chips, 2 open bags sugar substitute, 3 boxes of crackers, I think I'm beginning to see a pattern.

I think our post-thanksgiving snacks are going to involve a lot of sliced turkey on crackers, tea, and cookies.

Have plans for a productive day, even if I am still sore in the joints. Got to keep moving before everything gets worse.

DH put sweetener on the shopping list so I pulled out the two open bags this morning. While I was in there I found 3 more packs of crackers, 2 bags of chips (open, 1 stale and in the trash already) and another open pack of cookies (2 left, I ate them). Definitely a cracker party happening this weekend.

Tomorrow is trash day and I want to get as much out as possible before the holiday, as pickup will be delayed next week. We keep a waste basket in each room, it won't be hard to fill a bag.

Sis-in-law just called, can her step-daughter bring her new boyfriend on Thanksgiving? That is 6 adults and 2 small children now. I already miss the Thanksgivings when it was just hubby and me, so relaxing. I better go figure out how we are going to seat 8 people. Glad I talked hubby out of the salads because less plates.....May need to do buffet line in the kitchen & bring your plate to the table. I have seen that done in other families.

dircpa that is how we always do it....it's nice to have food on table but it never fails, the mashed potatoes you want are on the other end of table and six people have to stop eating to pass....I much rather have it buffet style...load it up and sit down...if you want more, you get up and get it.....

I'm doing two turkey breasts tomorrow nite for the homeless luncheon on Wednesday. I'm hoping they defrost....they are 8 lbs each and I took out 24 hours ago and they are still rock solid.....

We decided to go another half hour to a bigger casino on Thanksgiving day and spending the night. Hope we have a good time.

Took another box to my daughters house today. Just have two totes to put in garage to store.....

Got four large pillows to give to my friend. Did her house last week and it turned out really nice. Her party went well from the pictures I saw.

Got to decorate tomorrow for homeless lunch and then do a pick up...unfortunately it's an hour away and it's just a picture....sometimes it works out that way....

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.....

Made two baby blankets and made. Crockpot chicken for dinner. Dog is walking and eating the pumpkin. I have been adding more water and broth from chicken with nothing added. I taking him out walking twice a day. We are suppose to have one more day of good weather and I have a feeling that the dog will be pooping inside all weekend. Oh, boy!

GB, glad to hear the dog is up and walking. Hope things continue to go well with him.

Bookworm, put the frozen turkeys in water ... in a bucket, cooler, washtub, whatever is big enough. Just room temp water, not warm. They will thaw faster than sitting out on the counter.

I got a tub of cheese spread for DH to use on crackers. I'm planning to make leftover turkey nachos the lazy way, baked in the oven, after thanksgiving. That will use a bag of chips.

LL- That's how I knew we needed a new water heater, too. Yup, a sure give away when it's broken! I hope you get one soon. We got ours at Home Depot and DH installed it.

Well, we have about 10" snow now and are expecting double that. Schools are closed and everyone is home. We're expecting the appraiser! I have no idea if she will cancel but I was shoveling at midnight and it was a heavy snow. I don't know what shape DS1's room is in but I'm crossing my fingers that it is decent. I'll get him up an hour before she arrives to check it out.....Usually, the guys are at school/work but not this time....

Lots of leftover chicken from the other day...DH is always up for enchiladas.

I hope to make a appt with a new dentist today. I understand he is a month out for patients but I hope not.

DH installed the new drain in the bathroom sink. He complained it would take an hour and in the end, it was a 5 minute fix.

DS2 is worried about getting a failing grade in a class. I tried to alleviate his worries by saying he can retake it and hopefully, get a better teacher. He said that his GPA can't fall below a 3 to get a job. I said he wasn't looking for a job just yet, so focus on passing the classes. He still has 2 years to go... I'm not sure who is telling him about this job issue and GPA but I've never heard of such a thing.

Very cloudy here, but suppose to be near 80 and then a cool front and storms roll in later. Potato soup and cornbread for dinner. I slept on the couch last night with the dog beside me on the floor. Still no poop, but he passed gas, so I guess that is good. Going to the pet store today to see if there is something else I can give him.

Stay snug Rujerro! It is cloudy and cool here and we may see rain later. They say holiday flights are already getting backed up due to that snow storm and more weather is expected this week.

I am going to try and make cookies today, and put out the holiday tablecloth and centerpiece.

Leftovers for dinner, need to make space in the fridge for turkey and trimmings.

Zipper pull broke on my oldest parka last night, I think I fixed it with some heavy wire and a key chain fob. Monday we got free lunch at work because someone's last day of work. He was a manager, I don't suppose they will do that for the rest of the people who are planning to quit. Hubby has food and pots/pans strewn all over the kitchen. My job is to clean house and set the table. I'm off work Wed-Sun so hoping to relax some of the time.

GB- Sounds like pup will go to the bathroom soon and I hope he makes it outside quick.

The appraiser cancelled today but will be here tomorrow before Noon. DH was not happy with that time at all, but he will have to get up and sit and watch tv in the basement if he's too tired, or drive to a coffee shop. I will finish cleaning the counters/mirrors tomorrow. Schools closed tomorrow as well.

I decorated the mantle today and ordered a centerpiece for the coffee table but it hasn't arrived yet. It's 7:30 pm and I wonder if it will get here....I emailed the company and all they said was that they will be informed when it's delivered.

Hubby nixed the buffet line and wants food on the table. I'm just keeping quiet and waiting for this to be over. At least my house will be clean. Leaves still coming down and rain today so not much hope the yard will look nice.
I plan to go to Kohl's early Friday morning and use the $10 coupon, probably a bath mat/rug. The book donation bin is nearby so I'll try to sneak some books out of the house also.

A little bit of sun today, but chilly out. Doing laundry and making casseroles ready for the oven in the morning. Going to a friends for dinner tomorrow. I’m really struggling being happy. It was 6 months today that my mom died. I just want the holidays to be over.
