Eating fruits and veggies gleaned from a neighbor's garden (with their blessing!)
Got a line on some free firewood from another neighbor!
Took free magazines to another neighbor (gee, is it help your neighbor day? )

Yesterday, I got marked down hamburger for .89 and .99/lb! I bought ALL they had (about eight one pound packs).
I also got .50 Malt O Meal cereal!

    Sept 11th...

*Went to the bookstore today and I did buy a book, but it was in clearance.
*Did laundry at the in-laws - saved $6.
*My in-laws gave me 6 coupon inserts from their Sunday paper and all the grocery store flyers. Tonight's project is clipping, sorting, and matching them up to sales
*Ordered some coupons online for some upcoming sales this week
*Marked-down steak defrosting in the fridge for dinner
*Did not buy a new "first day of work" outfit for tomorrow. I am going to find something in my closet that looks nice but I already own.
*Got a flyer that our apartment complex is having a yard sale. I have to see if we have enough stuff to rent a table, or maybe if they'll have a free table I'll just give them the 4-5 things I know that I have.

    Default Frugal challenge Sept 11th - 18th.

I'm not counting yesterday as I went away for the weekend and fell off the bandwagon.
However, today I intend to start a fresh by:
switching off the lights when I leave a room.
drying as much of our clothes on the washing line as I can - fingers crossed for good weather.
Living off the freezer to make amends for last weeks slip up.
    Continuing with the penny challenge.
Reading the TightWad Gazettes that English Lady kindly gave me.

    Sunday, September 11

*Bought the Sunday paper, and found an extra coupon insert on the counter. The clerk said I could have it. Double the coupons! Yeah. Plan on sorting them tonight, and mailing off what I can't use for the coupon train.

*Had in-laws over for dinner. Grilled on sale steak, free acorn squash, bread, $1 broccoli, and salad with free tomatoes and cucumbers

*No a/c, left a few windows open

    *running dehumifier at night

*Will watch a Netflix movie tonight while I'm correcting papers and sorting coupons

*Have leftover salad and chicken for tomorrow's lunch. I will pack a lunch for my dh.

*Served water with dinner, so no extra cost. They requested water anyway!

    Sept 12

~ Spent $5.99 today for a book order for DD...was marked down from $7.99

~ Spent $2.50 for pizza order for DD for Friday's lunch. Proud of myself because I only ordered one slice instead of 2 (she usually doesn't eat the second one). I will send her some veggies, yogurt and a drink to fill her up if the pizza doesn't.

~ Dh overtime cheque will be deposited today and goes right into the downpayment account...we reached our goal!

~ Spent $15 on myself for Hip Hop classes for the month of September. This is budgeted for so I don't feel guilty plus it's a bunch of us moms getting out there and shaking and moving! It was a tonne of fun...a little sore today

~ Dh and DD took lunches today

~ One load of laundry in cold water

~ Turned heat on in morning just to warm house up and then off it goes for the rest of the day

~ Must vacuum today ( I used to do it everyday but now every 2 - 3 days)

    ~ Lights off

~ Going for walk this morning instead of using treadmill...save that energy since our energy dept has asked for a 27% increase come November!

~ Supper tonight is homemade tacos and leftover blonde brownies for dessert

    That's it....have a great day!

~when I went into the city, we took a lunch with us and water bottles rather than buying lunch
~bought a number of items at the health food store in bulk for my stockpile
    ~dh working today
~finished dd's wedding quilt. ALL the material in her quilt was material I had on hand or scraps of material. Thats the first time I was able to make a full quilt and not go out and purchase anything for it.

Canning beans. They desparately need processing before they turn into rubber

I'm not going anywhere and not spending any money.

dinner is out of the freezer tonight. roast chicken (the bird was on good sale), vegies from the garden, rice & millet..... It will be nice AND nice&cheap.
