    Smile Frugal challenge - June11 - 17th

How is everyone doing with this challenge. We are continually upping our frugality. We needed to add more $$ to our tax payment and now dd needs a piano (not keyboard), so we are needed to find even more cash.

    I'm doing the following:
~we planted more in our garden so we would have more food for the fall/winter months.
~dh has gotten a number of canning jars given to us. That is a huge savings.
~I cooked 2 deer roast yesterday because it was so cool here. Froze one for when it's hot, froze the bones and liquid for soups.
~dh is picking up some glass at the school they aren't using. He it for his woodworking.

I am really having trouble getting motivated with this since DH got another car and added more debt however....

Used left over spegetti sauce and taco meat to make a pot of chile. YUMMY

Clothes washed in cold and on line to dry now

Making salad using fresh lettuce and spinach from the garden

cut coupons and comparing them to grocery loss leaders

Used 2 coupons for trial sample sizes of lotion and shampoo= free!

    AC still not turned on

    Reading books from library

Staying home today no cash no gas maybe a clean house

    Today I have

Done laundry in cold and the clothes are hanging out.
Went and did an audit for work. Was able to get a couple of things we needed but used coupons.
Going for a walk later to get exercise and pick up aluminum. It is going for .80 a pound here.
    Dinner at home
May list a couple of things on freecyle.
    Sew
    Fold lots of laundry.

    Happy Sunday everyone!

Today is a day of rest around here so I'll be:

Heating up meat cooked on the bbq last evening while we were cooking out steaks with friends. We've also got left over salad and stir fried veggies to go with for lunch and possibly dinner.

Will be staying home, relaxing all day.

A/C is on 75 with the fan running and the ceiling fan in the L.R. is on to make it feel even cooler.

Lites, tv, computer off when not in use.

Blinds open for light when the sun isn't shining on them, then they're closed.

Trying to organize my thoughts for another busy week ahead.

    ~drinking water
    ~clipping and filing coupons
    ~DH grilled some steaks outdoors
~I am going to the high school track to run, which is free to use. I tried to run on my road, but was out running the other day and ran into a rather healthy snake!! Of course, I turned right around and ran back home...lol! Then yesterday, DH saw another crossing the road.

Had family reunion today, so all I had to make was a dessert. I made muddy buddys or puppy chow. Supper was left over pizza. Planted some tomatoes this weekend, along with a few other vegetables. I hope they will grow and produce for us. Other than that just reading on the village and getting new ideals.

    Let's see Monday June 12th

    - Air set at 80

    - Making all meals at home.

    - I will be cancelling Cable and High speed internet today.

    - Will be making out menu for next two weeks and planning around what I already have. Trying to stay out of the grocery store until the move. I will probably have to stop and get bread next week but hopefully that will be it as far as food goes.

    - Will be packing as entertainment tonight so no TV or Computer time.

Well I am going to post for a couple of days.

hung all laundry to dry, washed in cold

washed out ziploc baggies to reuse

    AC off

I hit the jackpot at the grocery store - combining sales and coupons I got the following for $6.31
-2 pillsbury 8 ct crescent rolls
-4 pillsbury 8 ct cinnamon rolls
-2 boxes of totinos pizza rolls
    -2 3 ct microwave popcorn
    - 2 betty crocker boxes of muffin mix
    -2 BC warm delights desserts
    - 6 oz thing of raspberries
    -6 oz thing of blueberries
    - 1 seedless watermelon

I broke my favorite stoneware last night, but I decided that I have a cabinet full of PC stoneware (I used to sell it) and I am going to see how long I can go without replacing it. I used it every day, sometimes more than once a day. I am hoping to get used to my other pieces

Planned my menu for the next 2 weeks to use up what I have in the pantry/freezer.

    Monday
    washed clothes in cold water
hung clothes up instead of using the dryer
    had leftovers for supper
    no spend day
called the pharmacy to see if my medication was done. Not. Saved gas money by using the phone instead of driving to the pharmacy
    heat still off since April

    Okay, here goes:

    Sunday:

    Cooked all meals at home
Spent $37.88 for the weeks groceries after checking what I have and planning the menu around that
Washed in cold and hung out laundry to dry
    Figured out my total debts
Got containers at the dollar store to send drinks to school for the kids instead of juice boxes.
Walked to watch the parade (free entertainment)
Threatened the life of the clown trying to sell my kids cotton candy at the parade (just kidding)

    Monday:

Took left overs to work for lunch
    Drank water
Hung out another load of laundry at 5 AM before work
Packed inexpensive healthy lunches for the kids
Applied to consolidate all my debts into one lower interest payment
    Spent no money!
    Took tea to work
Made dinner in the crock pot
    Worked an hour of overtime
