Default Frugal Challenge 10/22 to 10/28

    Today I am:
    1. Going to the library to borrow a book
    2. Picking up some needed groceries on the same trip as the library to save gas. Will shop from a list.
    3. Did one load of laundry in cold, hanging to dry.
    4. Watching the World Series on tv tonight for free entertainment.

    Yesterday:

-went to race at Martinsville and only spent $4 while there. Had to have hot dogs! Packed the rest of our drinks and snacks. Loaded up on free chewing tobacco and cigarettes for DH. Also got other freebies to give to kids since they didn't go.
-prepared meal in crockpot on Saturday night so we wouldn't be tempted to stop and eat dinnner on the way home

    Today:

    -all meals at home
    -have not left the house
    -laundry in cold water
-watching last night's Desperate Housewives for entertainment
-sent leftovers with DH for lunch and dinner

    10/23:

~ breakfast, lunch and dinner were homemade
~ drank only water all day
~ drove to work :S and will have to drive there again tomorrow
~ drove over to 's place to take care of Nisha
~ entertained myself all evening with cleaning my place and his (a treat for him, since I usually just leave his mess to himself, but this is going to be a very rough week for him so I wanted him to come home to a nice clean apartment for at least one night).
~ bought Nisha a litter scoop and some cat food (because I know he forgot ) -- total $8.69.

    - homemade pizza for dinner
    - took ds to football practice and just sat in the car reading Tightwad Gazette with the car off, saves on gas, since I didn't run around or anything
    - washed some ziploc bagggie
    - made a quick bread from scratch for our breakfast
    - called about a mistake on the cable and internet bill, they lowered it by $20, are giving us the promotional rate for an extra 3 months and we are lowering the cable we have to the very basic which will cost us $9.97 a month instead of $47.99
    - listed some cloth diapers for sale on a flea market board, so no fees if they sell
    - dh took leftovers for lunch today
    - received a $39 refund from the car insurance, and it is going straight into the EF, which we are rebuilding from the move

    10/23:

    Not a very frugal day:

~ breakfast and lunch were completely forgotten about, so my mom bought me a bagel, which I stretched into both meals.
~ drank water or tea all day
    ~ worked all day
~ 's grandfather is really sick, so we've spent most of yesterday and today waiting to hear from his family back home to see if there's been any change
~ bought Nisha a name tag so when she goes outside, at least someone who happens to find her knows that she has a home. Name tag was $21.00 (bought a good brass disk one with enscribed name and info) and collar was $4.00 (from the Wal-Mart). I think is going to give me back at least half of that.
~ forgot completely about my gourmet cooking class tonight! I had to hightail it to the local grocery store in order to make it on time. But I did, so dinner was all prepared for me right in front of my eyes.
~ came home, apartment is nice and clean, so I just made myself a cup of tea, set out some stuff for lunches, and set up my clothes for the morning. I'm already exhausted!

    Yesterday:
-DH took me to Cracker Barrel using a GC we received
-went to library for free entertainment
-received several good magazines in the mail
-overspent at Wal-Mart...ugh...went in to get DD's allergy med ($25) and ended up spending $50. That place is so EVIL!!!!
    -dinner and lunch at home
-new thermostat put in living room...hopefully will decrease power bill due to it being programmed to be on 60 during the day

    Today:

-lost my mind and bought breakfast instead of cooking it myself (kids ate breakfast at home)...total of $4
    -skipped lunch
-cooking dinner at home before kids get home from school...won't be tempted by take-out
-running kids to extracurriculars tonight so no chance to get bored and go spend money
    -reading for entertainment
-heat on but set on 64...60 was too cold for me

    10/25:

Nothing brilliant going on today (wow, it's only Wednesday?!! )

    ~ drank water all day
~ breakfast, lunch and dinner all from home
~ only drove to work and back today
    ~ staying home
    ~ no spending today

Might have to go over to 's place tonight if his grandfather passes on, and we know what plans are to be made to go down home to attend the funeral. I'm checking my emails and staying close to the phone all week.
