    Thumbs up Frugal challenge - Nov. 5 - 11th

I love this challenge. How is everyone doing? This week I plan on:

~lights, tv, radio and computer off when not in use.
~purchasing a few more incondescent light bulbs. If I purchase more than 2, I get 4 free ones from Manitoba hydro. We've had great success with the bulbs we have, with only one burning out in almost 2 years.
~using a few coupons to pick up a few groceries on Wed. when I'm in the city. Sobey's has double coupon days and doubles up to $2.00 coupons. I'll also be picking up a few good loss leaders while in the city.
~continuing to use up scraps to make baby quilts.
    ~walking in town
~I finished painting 4 Christmas sleighs that needed painting. Dh is putting them together. All 4 are sold. As soon as I take them to the lady, she will pay me. Painting a few more craft items for dh to take to the school to try and sell.

    - My parents were here for the weekend helping us get the house together after the move. They brought us the rest of our stuff from CO. My mom took me to Sams club for a stock up trip. That will really help my budget this month!
    - hung a load of laundry up
    - warmer weather today, so the heat hasn't come on
    - had leftovers for dinner tonight
    - raked our own leaves and bagged a bunch, blew a bunch into the back and mowed a bunch
    - listed some stuff on ebay last week and the auctions end tonight, at least 2 things will sell, hopefully more

    Sunday, Nov 5th...

    *All meals at home
*Took coffee to church (there is a Starbucks in the lobby that I occasionally succumb to)
*Went to a baby shower and re-gifted items I received at my shower (all duplicates) and re-used a gift bag.
*Used up $21 worth of CVS Extracare Bucks that expire at 10:00am tomorow, plus a $2 off coupon. I mostly splurged on things for me, but I did pick up some spices that we needed
    *Eating leftovers for dinner
*No spend day (other than giving to the church)
    *Sorting my coupon box out
    *Sold a book on Half.com
    *Planning errands for tomorrow
*Used samples of shampoo, conditioner, and hair gel

~no lights on during daylight hours
    ~washed laundry in cold water
    ~used homemade laundry detergent
    ~used fabric softener diluted 50/50 w/vinegar
    ~made meals from pantry/fridge/freezer
~signed up for rewards program through our bank

    This week I plan to:

Not get hit by a deer. They are moving and I have had to many close calls this week.

No lights on until really dark...I use alot of candle light.

    3 No spend days.

I have turned the heat off....what little we use..we also have wood heat..but it's supposed to be really nice here in Missouri this week..so I will save some wood and some electricity.

Hopefully put another 50 bucks in savings.

    Everyone have a great week!!

Considering DH spent the whole weekend sick, and I didn't feel so hot either, we've spent the whole weekend at home. We originally had plans to buy him some new clothes this weekend, including a new suit. So, I guess we saved some money. Of course, that's just spending postponed.

I did go grocery shopping at Albertson's today and got some really good deals on a few things, so I stocked up.

    11/5

Treated to lunch after church by DH's brother & SIL
DH picked up some firewood from his parent's house (they took down some trees in the woods around their house and are giving us the wood)
Went through childrens toys and filled a large box for donation
Heat stayed off most of the day (used in the morning and late evening)
Had homemade pizza instead of ordering pizza for Sunday's dinner (our traditional pizza night)
    No spend day

    For today (11/6):

    Stay at home all day
Close off the unused part of the house and use space heater to keep it warm enough for ds
Laundry in cold water, though I will use the dryer (but will use the ambient heat from dryer to keep the family room warm)
    Keep the lights off

Ugh...this past weekend has been bad, frugally speaking. It was my DH's 50th birthday so I splurged some. I'm not gonna feel terrible about it though because it really is a major milestone.

    11/5:
    -breakfast and dinner at home
-went out to lunch for DH's birthday (used gift money to pay for it)
    -organized my household notebook
-started clipping coupons and matching deals
-browsed sales papers to find best deals for Christmas presents

    11/6:
-went to discount bakery for bread for lunchboxes
-making "real" bread to go with tonight's dinner
-having company over to celebrate with DH...making dinner instead of going out. Yes, we're having steaks but it still comes out cheaper.
-neighbor is making birthday cake as a surprise for DH
-got an 18" girls bike at WalMart for $25 for DD's Christmas present...I'm excited about that one!
-using samples from doctor's office for kids allergies
-laundry in cold water and 1/2 dryer sheet

    Stephanie
