Military famlies - W-2 ???
I have a question for anyone who can answer it. My son was in the Marine Corps, but he was medically discharged at the end of June, 2008. Will they mail a W-2 to his address on file or how would he go about getting his W-2 from the military to file for his taxes. The previous year he was able to print it off of Mypay, but he no longer has access to the site. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

The W-2's for anyone who is or was active will not be out before Jan 24th.

I honestly can't remember if we got them mailed to us last year or not. I know I downloaded them from mypay. I would think that they would send them to him since he no longer can access mypay. I would have him maybe check with his former unit if he doesn't get it.

If he does not received anything in the mail by the end of the month, I will tell him to give his last unit a call and find out what he needs to do. Thanks for the information..

We have both of my DH's W-2's and he is military.
Before we had access to mypay, they sent them to us.

Since we've had access to mypay they haven't mailed them in years. I would have him contact his last unit as soon as he can. Waiting until they say they have a release day could just put it back. I would have him verify that they are indeed going to mail it. And that they have the proper adderess to send it to.

People separate from the military all the time and they all must lose access to mypay. It would be such a massive error in the system for them to just not get their w2s... I'm sure they'll be mailing them out. His situation is so common that I think it's unlikely that he'll be overlooked.
Of course it's always good to have a back up plan.
