Residential Communties Initiative...???
Any of you On Post/On Base housing people facing this?!
Our Post is turning over housing to a contractor for new buiding, renovations, & maintenance.....I guess in the overall scheme of things it sounds good - BUT - they're talking about putting our BAH in our monthly pay & then we'll have to cut them a check for "rent"....
Has anyone else dealt with this change over & if so can you give me the *real* lowdown on it?!
TIA!

Debbie, I want to say that they tried that once before at Fort Polk, LA and it didn't ride. I know all of the base housing we lived in was handled by a contractor, then back to non-military DOH? I think thst's it. I wish you the best of luck in finding out the "real" truth. Keep us posted

We live off post, so we do that all the time. (BAH in check and we pay rent/mortgage) Here they have talked about switching to metered electircity, but dont' know if they have done that. They haven't talked about going to a rent system though.
The maintenance on most posts is done by a contract company as far as I know. Here a company won a bid to remodel some of the older housing and it looks pretty good. Like I said, we live off post though.
