Bath Salts Underway
Last night I finally got myself in gear for the bath salt gift production. I had purchased everything earlier and just couldn't seem to get myself going but last night it finally kicked in. I used cute glass Christmas jars that I found at yard sales. They were mostly clear but did have a small holiday design on them. I used Epsom salts, baking soda, food coloring and stress relief essential oil which contains eucalyptus and mint. I went with 3 cups Epsom salts, 1 cup baking soda, 20 drops oil and 3 small drops each of blue, green and yellow food coloring. I added the blue and stirred like crazy, then added the green and stirred and finally added the yellow and stirred until my arm wanted to fall off. It gave it a speckled aqua look with each of the colors showing up a bit. I did the recipe twice and filled 2 jars and I had a little bit left over......
Yep I put that in a nice warm bath for myself. It smelled wonderful.
Tonight I will make some more to give as gifts.

It's amazing what putting a simple gift in a nice container will do to make it look expensive. Those bath salts in the stores are in small containers and are so expensive. These containers hold almost a quart and they will look pretty sitting out in their bathroom. Next year they can reuse them for something as well.
I get 1/2 gallon of salts for $2, 1 box of baking soda for .50, food coloring is just pennys for the dabs I use and the essential oil was less than $5 and will do tons of jars. It's really a gift for next to nothing. Just stick on a nice bow and a card and it's done.

Pic of our Bath Salts
Here is a pic of the bath salts that dd and I are giving as Christmas gifts. They are made of epsom salts, baking soda and glycerin. The green ones are stress relief scent (eucalyptus and mint) and the pink ones are romantic scent (jasmine and chamomile). I used some Christmas jars and other jars that I had found at yard sales and I did have a few of the mason jars already on hand. They are really a cheap gift but I do think they have nice eye appeal.

Yes making them together was the best part. I will treasure memory and hope that when she grows up she'll look back on it and smile.

I bet everyone is going to love them. I love the way you decorated the jars or where they already made with the Christmas theme?

Some of them already had a Christmas pic on them. For the others I just bought red lids and added the rafia in Christmas colors.
