I added dry mushrooms to my mix once but IMO it's not worth it. They're so expensive and if we want mushrooms, we'd rather have bigger pieces that we actually notice are in there, so I'll just mix in a small can of mushrooms either sliced as they come out of the can, or chopped.

    Smile great ideas

Mahalo for the dried cream of soup ideas!! Save on all those cans too.

I'm thinking that it might be fun to make a holiday basket of a lot of these ideas including samples and the recipes for friends who have expressed interest, but little action....like me until recently!!

I used to make a version of this and it does save me a lot of money. I'll have to make it again as my dad gets powdered milk in a "food box" thru the church program and he doesn't use it, so he gives it to me. The milk is the most expensive ingredient and I buy my bouillon at Sam's, so it really is cheap. The reason I REALLY like it that there is no can to go into a landfill. Unless you've got a ton of them saved up, the recycler really doesn't want to take them, only the aluminum cans.

I'm glad that this got bumped up, I'm going to make both of the mixes & play around with them now while it's soup season!
