    Default Quick Update...

Just a quick update...before I forget. Got some frugal activities done before leaving the house today! The travel conditioner bottle that I finished using got washed out (drying now) for future use... And I used up the last of a shampoo I didn't like refilling the hand soap in the kitchen.

Last night I cleaned the floor of my pantry and reorganized the stuff on the floor (under the bottom shelf). Much better order - easier access...

Packed our lunches and water bottles for school...

And I know this isn't a frugal comment...but I'm just so darned excited!!! I got the 3rd highest grade in my biology class on the midterm (a class of almost 70 students). WOOT!! I'm doing the happy dance!!!!! I was SOOOOO worried about that test!!!

    Default Day 22

Had a pretty frugal day today. Dh and I only ate pb&j for lunch at school...supper was warmed up meat muffins and mashed potatoes with a little grated cheese and some veggies...very cheap! Those little mini-meatloafs lasted us three meals!! And that was just one pound of ground beef!!

    Was a no spend day.

    Default Day 23

Well, I got a crock pot of potato soup with beans put on before leaving the house today... It was all ready to eat when we got home...which was nice since I got really sick while at school (super bad cold/flu)...ugh... The soup should last us for several days...

    Another no spend day...

LOL I made potato soup too!

I had one bowl and dd ate the whole pot! I guess she liked it--I made it in 5 minutes.

I put butter and precut frozen onion I had chopped and bagged in a dutch oven and let it cook a minute. Added salt pepper and natures season. Added 6-8 cups water and 3-4 cups instant real potato flakes and cooked it about 3-4 minutes and then poor in some half and half--out of milk and didn't want to open a can of evaporated.

It was really fast and really good.

A great quick meal and nothing to thaw.

    Hope you feel better soon!

    Default Day 24

No spend and no drive day. We had oatmeal (cheap!) for breakfast...and more of the potato soup for lunch & supper. I added some corn (more out of the freezer!).

Trying to rest as I still feel yucky... I did wash out the water bottles we use for school, did the laundry, and tidied up a bit... Slow day...

We had potato chowder yesterday too! But I added broccoli and a little leftover cauliflower to it. I would have added a can of corn if I had some.... but didn't. I did find cream on at 0.35 cents a quart and added a cup and it was soooo good!

And porridge is perfect at this time of year...mmmm.

    Default Day 26

Took some soap bits and stuck 'em together...they're drying (hopefully they'll stick together good).

We had the leftover soup for lunch (the last of it)...and pancakes for supper.

I used up the last of a trial size floss...still have two more...gotta love free stuff!

Thought I'd squeezed the last bit out of some skin care...cut the tube open and there's at least a few more days worth!!!

    Another no spend day...

Oh, and I earned $10 doing some chores for a friend.

Still feeling a little 'yucky', but am getting better...

I mixed up a batch of bread dough and after it had risen I cut oof a 4th of it. Made dinner rolls with the 3/4 and made cinnamon rolls with the 1/4 and we were so full (this was at 4) after we snacked we didn't even want dinner!

The cinnamon rolls were so good. next time I am making a batch of dough and using the whole thing!

Potato soup! Oh, that sounds tasty. Maybe I'll have to get stuff for that when we go grocery shopping today.

    Default Days 26 & 27

Yesterday was a no drive day...we stayed home and caught up on homework...
Ate from the pantry and freezer...

Today is a no-spend day... We picked up my new glasses on the way to school (the re-makes) and not only did they not charge me the extra $30 for the nicer frames, they gave me a little travel/trial contact solution and case pack free! Woot!

Brought our lunches to school today. It's cold out! I wish I had something hot to eat!!! And the pizza in the student union smells GOOD!! But, I'm behaving myself.

We will have to drive extra today... My dad is flying to the lower 48 to visit my brother and my mom is still out of commission with the broken ankle (aka, no driving for her)... So, we have to run him out there...should be about 7 miles of driving.

Would you believe I am STILL fighting this dumb cold/flu bug?! It's a weird one...you feel like you're almost over it and then it's like you re-lapse...Dh is about 2-3 days behind me in the course of it... We have gone through a MASSIVE quantity of tissues!!! GRRRR!!!! Knocked my stockpile WAY down!!! ARGH!! Gonna have to stock up on those again soon...

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

    Default Day 30 & 31

I'm still real sick, so Dh picked up some food on the way home ($16) yesterday. Today is a no drive and no spend day.

After this month (even with the added expenses of a few meals out, some convenience foods, and the loads of cold medicine for me and Dh)...based on our regular budget, we ended up with a $325 surplus!!!!! Wow! In just one month! I'm thrilled with the results!!

Well, this draws my challenge to a close... Thanks all, for keeping me on track!
