Stockpiles do work. Next goal here is I need to be more creative in storing stuff. I used to be happy if I had one or two of things ahead, so if we used something, I had back up on the shelves. I have gone way beyond that now.
I have a over a year's supply of liquid laundry soap, toilet paper, bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, and canned dog food.
At least half a year ahead on coffee, and dish soap.
Plenty of other canned goods. Two freezers running.
    Chickens for eggs.
Currently working on getting ahead for items in the bathroom.
This winter's wood has been in place.
Lots of veggie seeds bought for next spring.
And our second 100 pound tank of propane is now filled.

If hubby did not need his white bread and his fresh milk, I would not have to go to a grocery store till spring. Might run out of a few things, but I could make do
Chicken feed is bought ahead a bag or two. They keep reminding me if they were union, they would be on strike already.

I am slow but surely regaining my stock pile from my move , we went grocery shopping tonight and I was looking for a good buy on hamburg but almost had a heart attack $4.00 pound I have never in my life seen $4.00 a pound hamburg so I had to settle for the 1.98 a pound package at Wally World meat prices here are so high !!But I did manage to put 6 Turkeys in the freezer when they were .49 a pound before Thanksgiving.

I hope it's okay of I resurrect this thread ... I didn't see one for 2011. I just inventoried my own bathroom (guest bathroom), where I keep all of my own hba. I like stockpiling these items and now that I have about a year's worth of stuff (except some things, noted below list), I wanted to post my list here for reference (hopefully it helps someone else on hba ideas, too). I have also categorized it, and have posted it to the inside of my medicine cabinet so I can cross things off as I use them/add to it:

    Hair

    4 combs
    1 hairbrush
    1 hair dryer
12 hair bands (black, also used as cat toy )
    1 bag hair bobbins
    1 set hair rollers
½ bottle Pantene Pro-V shampoo and conditioner
Pert Plus Shampoo (opened, ¾ full)
1.5 fl oz Thermasilk hair spray
1 bottle Awapuhi Moisture mist for hair
    1 bottle Thermasilk heat-activated mousse
2.5 fl oz Pantene Pro-V Conditioner
3.4 fl oz Biolage Bodifying Crème gel for hair
10.14 fl oz Tea Tree Special Conditioner
10.17 fl oz Herbal Essences shampoo

    Body

    1 loofah
Vanilla body wash (opened, ¾ full)
Bubbles for bath (opened, ¾ full)
½ bottle Apricot & Sunflower body spray
1 bottle Sweet Pea shower gel
1 bottle Shilo Inn bath gel
    1 bottle Calgon body exfoliator
1 bottle Fuschia Pink shower gel
    1 bottle Pear shower gel
    1 bottle Caress body wash
1 bottle Apricot & Sunflower shower gel
1 bottle Sparkling Sugared Pear body spray
    1 bottle Raspberry Body Spray
    1 bottle Plumeria body spray
1 bottle Satin hands hand cream
    1 bottle Nourish lotion
1 bottle Fuschia Pink body lotion
1 bottle Berry Kiss body lotion
1 bottle Sparkling Sugared Pear body lotion
1 bottle Stress Free moisturizer lotion

    Face

1 bottle face moisturizer (3/4 full)
    1 box facial exfoliating cloths
    1 Pro-Activ kit
1 Clean and Clear Advantage Kit
    2 bottles acne spot treatment
    6 bottles acne cleanser
    3 bottles acne toner
    7 bottles acne lotions/masks

    Teeth

    1 toothbrush
    1 package dental floss
    ¾ Crest travel size toothpaste
    1 Wisp toothbrush
    1 box Crest Whitestrips
    1 full size Crest toothpaste
    1 box Safeway Whitestrips
    4 fl oz bottle mouthwash
1 bottle Arm & Hammer whitening booster

    MakeUp

    1 packet makeup rounds
    1 compact mirror
    5 makeup applicator brushes
    1 bronzer
    4 blushes
    9 foundations
    4 eyeliners
    2 mascaras
    11 lipstick/gloss
    10 eye shadows

    Nails

    ¾ bottle Nail Polish remover
    12 nail files
    2 nail polish strengtheners
    1 bottle red nail polish
    1 bottle blue nail polish
    1 bottle pink nail polish
    1 bottle bronze nail polish

    Misc.

    ½ bar Dove soap
    1 full bar Dove soap
    Intuition shaver
    3 Intuition shaver refills
    box of bandaids
    box of Immodium
    about 250 cotton swabs
    5 rolls toilet paper
    1 emergency first aid kit
    1 bottle spray sunscreen
    44 feminine pads
    1 Tide to go Mini

I will need to stock up on: facial exfoliating cloths, toothbrushes, dental floss, mouthwash, Dove soap (we use this for hand washing, DH allergic to everything else), and Intuition shaver refills within the next month. TP we actually have 14 rolls which will last us a few more months, so no need to stock up there.

I am definitely good on: body washes, body sprays, body lotion, acne care, teeth whitening strips, blushes, foundations, lipstick/glosses, eye shadows, cotton swabs, feminine pads ... apparently have been stockpiling these without paying attention

There's actually 2 for stockpile challenge...there's this one and another one, I think it's under the category money instead of challenges category. I haven't posted for awhile but I always posted under both..seems different people post on one or the other.

My tp and paper towel supply got so big I'm storing them in huge plastic tubs on the back patio!

It sure frees up room for me since my dd moved back home and took my spare room away.

I have decided to put my spare linens in tubs under dds bed to have my extra closet for stockpiles. Now that dd and I coupon and get so much free or almost free stuff it is coming in faster than I can manage it.

Just yesterday we got a bottle of fruitous shampoo, conditioner, style root lifter and a bottle of sally hanson nail polish for free and got $8 in free buck to spend plus we also used our coupons for added savings.

Things are always coming in now.

Okay girls, The threat of a double dip economy is scaring me a little so I am back to the business of stocking. Right now it will just be h&BA's and household like tp and laundry soap.

    Here we go again!

I have a $100 gift card for target so dd and I are grabbing the coupon binder(got a great one that opens to 5 inches and has 2 sides of binder clips) and it is full to bursting! and heading out today.

I made my h&ba list and did some counting--dh already has 16 body washes lol--and I will report back.

Strap in girls it's going to be a bumpy ride!

    CVS on August 22, 2011

2 head and Shoulders classic clean 14.2 oz. each
    1 tampax 40ct
2 finish dishwasher tablets 20ct each
    1 hydro 3 blade razor refills 4count
    1 tampax 20 count

    I spent $22.68
I saved $25.69 with coupons and sales

I had $8 in ECBs and came out with $9 more.

I like to get the bucks back and try to match my coupons and sales to the bucks so I can keep going back and adding to my stockpile with little or no $$$ spent.

Towards the end of the month my coupon/stockpile fund is pretty depleted.

My stockpile challenge is to finally start one! DH is finishing my stockpile closet. It will be small, and a little hard to access (have climb over the TV/stand!) But in our 600 s.f. cottage, it is perfect!

I am starting with HBA products. Thankfully we have it down to the basics so shouldn't be too hard right? ;-)

    Wish me luck!

You will find yourself getting really creative with storage. Try and find things like antique/vintage suitcases that can be stacked on top of one another. They make great tables and look like room decor and etc. Also, I bought big plastic lidded tubs for the tp and paper towels and they live on my back patio!
