I'd like to make some HM gifts this year.....dishcloths, maybe some scarves or placemats. And I'd like to get rid of some of the junk I've got around here. I have way too much stuff that I've never even used...just taking up space.

It would be cool if I could combine using up all the scrap yarn I have with making nice presents for my family/friends!

I also need to steal MM's ornament design! Very cool, MM!

I'm in but it won't be much per week. I figure any is better than nothing. Hubby and I didn't do each other this year either. So I'm in for $5 to $10 a week whenever possible. It might be hit or miss but it'll be something. We have 5 kids ( 4 adults ) and 1 at home. 1 daughter in law. 6 grand kids.
So anything would help. So I'm in.

Miss Thrifty - sounds like a pretty pattern - do you have a picture of it?

I would love to learn, but I wouldn't even know how to get started.

I am going to try and get my Christmas shopping done a lot earlier and also get parcels mailed out by 1st Dec. This year I didn't start shopping until almost mid-Dec and got my parcels mailed on the 17th Dec. Cost me 67 dollars for 2 smallish parcels! Would have been less than half of that had I been on the ball. Didn't finish the rest of my shopping until the 24th. Also didn't get Christmas cards out this year. Usually I send about 85-100 out and never had a chance to put pen in hand. It seems that the older I get the faster time goes by. Procrastinate is getting to be my middle name. Never thought I would say that!!!

I'm in too. I was so disorganized this past year. 2010 will be better. I've already started my list and have come up with a few good ideas. I'm going to make a quilt for my daughter and I already have the material. I have the cross stitch material and floss to make the pictures for the oldest 2 kids. So I just need to figure something out for the twins and dh.

I bought my sister and bil gifts already and wrapped them and gave them to my mom. She lives with them but is out here for the holidays, so she can take them back with her and put them in her gift closet until next year. No shipping costs then. I still need to get something for my neice and nephew though.

I also bought a christmas kitty teddy for my daughters stocking. I'll continue to look for stocking stuffers through the year.

I missed a few cards this year, too, so I am going to send those people a short letter in January, wishing them a happy new year.

Madhen, I personally think that the best quilt to start with is a patchwork quilt - you can play around with colors and placement. I'd be glad to send you some fabrics to play around with - you could even start with a table runner to start small!! Oh, this is so exciting!!

After viewing pictures of my Niece's and Nephew in-law's Christmas tree with it's strands of twinkle lights, but nothing else, I've decided to recycle my Christmas cards this year and make her and her husband some Christmas tree ornaments. I've got to think it through though, I'd like them to last and not be cheesy. Maybe find a special box for them to store them in? Still in the developing stages.

sounds like an idea with a lot of possibilities Polly. One question I do need to ask..... are you sure they want ornaments - they may have planned the lights only look?

I think I'll be look at the Christmas cards with other uses in mind now also - mahalo!!

I think it's a safe bet. But, you've made a good point and I'll be sure to ask about their tree needs. Thanks Maui!
